The weblog(more colloquially known as a blog) has become more and more of a staple of modern day culture since it's inception. Not only have they served their traditional functions, but now are sources of news, gossip, among many other things, as well as something a lot of different kinds of people do.

In Japan, blogging has strong ties to their celebrity scene, and some even increase their celebrity by blogging, and blogging frequently(Shoko Nakagawa, for example, is known for her frequent updates to her own blog, sometimes going over 60 or 70 updates in a single day).

A piece of trivia for anyone curious about the Japanese blog culture: one very common subject is, apparently, food.

That in mind, what do you think of blogging culture? Do you have any favorite blogs(whether it be about Japan or in general)? Do you run your own blog?

Some of my own blogroll includes Xorsyst , TokyoMango, Japan Probe, Akibanana & Ampontan

The only blog I really read is Gaijin Smash. It's really funny and shows Japan through the eyes of a foreigner who isn't either completely obsessed with the country or harbours insane hatred for it. Entries vary from the hilarious to the genuinely touching. Though I'd be warned if you're thinking of reading it. It's kinda PG-13.
The guy who writes it started when he was in the JET program, and the school-era episodes are hilarious. Think Japanese kids are all sweetness and light? Think again, haha.

I guess Perez Hilton would count, too.

I try to blog myself, more to keep myself occupied than anything else, but I usually end up writing about crap, haha. And there's about two people who read it... It's more a personal blog than anything interesting.
