Corrosion of Conformity [Their later works, largely punk influences]
Rwake [Hailing from Little Rock, Arkansas this is one of the coolest bands on the scene]
Baroness [Hailing from Georgia this band is a lovely addition to a lovely genre]
Stonecutters [Not one of my favorite Sludge bands, but they are definitely great, give them a listen if you're like me you'll like them but there are others out there, but then again you may not.]

Thrash Metal Recs:
Megadeth [Probably the most important band in my life, one of the "big four" of thrash]
Metallica [Possibly the most influential thrash bands out there, next to Megadeth one of the "big four"]
Slayer [Can't say much about Slayer, just gotta give em a listen one of the "big four"]
Anthrax [One of the "big four" and hugely influential band]
Skeletonwitch [Who likes a little thrash with their black metal? I do.]
Kreator [Lovely band, gotta give em a listen to see if you like em]
Exodus [Dave Mustaine of Megadeth thinks they should be part of the big four, how can you say no to that?]
Overkill [Once again, give them a listen you might like them you might not.]
Testament [It's truly hard not to like these guys.]
Pantera [Their early work, and by "early" I mean Cowboys from Hell]
Sepultura [Some people will say they are death because of Max's vocal style, don't listen to them, Sepultura is a great band that includes many influences from their homeland of Brazil]

Black Metal Recs:
Dimmu Borgir [A little mainstream, but still an excellent band]
Mayhem [Possibly the most controversial band on the scene, there are a huge number of murders and suicides surrounding this band]
Darkthrone [A must for the beginning listener, not to be overlooked]
Gorgoroth [Not really my style, but they have their place]
Wolves in the Throne Room [A very atmospheric sound, my favorite black metal band]
Dolorian [A personal favorite, they combine black metal with ambient, listen if you wish to truly know suffering epitomized in music.]
Bathory [Part of the first wave of Black Metal, a must for the serious listener]
Satyricon [A good band, definitely a good band, check them out]
Forgotten Tomb [A Black/Doom Crossover a lot like Dolorian, with lyrics less introspective and vocals a tad harsher]

Death Metal Recs:
Cannibal Corpse [A good start to the Death Metaller, this band is very special to me]
Deicide [A Death Metal sound combined with controversially anti-Christian lyrics]
Morbid Angel [Again with the anti-Christian lyrics, they have the best drummer on the scene]

Goatsnake [Absolutely wonderful, really psychedelic sound]

Black Sabbath [The band that started it all. Truly manly metal.]
Dio [A huge influence on Heavy Metal, Dio is like God of the metal world.]
Iron Maiden [They've had a profound influence on the Heavy Metal and Power Metal genres.]
Manowar [Possibly the biggest and most possible Heavy Metal band ever, their lyrics center around brotherhood, metal, etc. and Eric Adam's voice combined with the instrumentals gives the band a particularly epic feeling]

I wouldn't really pigeonhole Boris as a Drone band since they don't stick with a set sound for very long.

Yeah, I know what you mean, but Drone is kinda their thing, they are so changing it'd be hard to really pin a single genre to them. So I thought I'd put them in my tiny list of drone bands.

The same could be said of WITTR, I didn't want to just plain out call them Black Metal, but I didn't have any choice.

Most of these bands have probably been recommended already, but here are my suggestions (album suggestions included):

- Anthrax (Fistful of Metal, Spreading the Disease, Among the Living)

- Megadeth (Killing is Business, and Business is Good!, Peace Sells, But Who's Buying?, So Far, So Good, So What?, Rust in Peace, Countdown to Extinction, Youthanasia)

- Slayer (Show No Mercy, Reign in Blood, South of Heaven, Seasons in the Abyss, Divine Intervention, God Hates Us All)

- Venom (Welcome to Hell, Black Metal)

- Dio (Holy Diver)

- Iron Maiden (Killers, Powerslave, The Number of the Beast)

- Manowar (Warriors of the World, Kings of Metal)

- Pantera (Vulgar Display of Power, Cowboys from Hell)

- Judas Priest (Hellbent for Leather, Screaming for Vengeance, British Steel)

I'll think of some more later, but those are the ones on my mind right now.

@ Hollow Point: HOLY s**t, YOU NEVER TOLD ME YOU WERE AN ANTHRAX FAN! AWESOME, MAN! (+10,000 Awesome Points)

- Manowar (Warriors of the World, Kings of Metal, The Triumph of Steel, Louder Than Hell, The Sons of Odin, Into Glory Ride, Hail To England, Fighting the World, Battle Hymns)

- Pantera (Vulgar Display of Power, Cowboys from Hell, Reinventing the Steel, Far Beyond Driven, Official Live: 101 Proof)

Fixed.
For someone who is a Manowar fan, you forgot some of their best albums, same goes with Pantera, their discography is a lot better than CFH or Vulgar Display, you ain't a Pantera fan until you've heard the Great Southern Trendkill and Reinventing the Steel, shining examples of Pantera. Same goes with Megadeth, dude, you listed a lot, but you forgot a lot. I personally didn't like the Peace Sells... album, the only songs from that album I truly enjoy are Peace Sells and I Aint Superstitious.

I'm not a Pantera fan. I like them, but I can't call myself a fan since I only have 2 of their albums (and they wound-up getting lost anyways since iTunes was being gay). Same goes with Manowar. And Dio. Wait, did I seriously forget to list The World Needs a Hero? And I wouldn't consider United Abominations and The System Has Failed as their best. Those albums were good, but Megadeth has done better.

The System Has Failed is one of my least favorites. United Abominations is their best in a long, long time.
