The fast paced city never really suited Kaev. Too many conflicting smells, and very few that were actually pleasant. Cars whizzed by, kicking up leaves and gutter water as the sped around corners. Humans running into each other, but too haggered to pause and apologize. The gray collie jumped and growled softly in his throat when a woman spilled searing coffee on his fur. She muttered something about a "mangy mutt" as Kaev watched her go. Mangy mutt indeed!
He continued down the sidewalk, glad that no human here even bothered to notice him. He would be in enough trouble if his owner discovered that he had snuck out again. But he couldn't help it, he simply loved to explore. And the city seemed like the best place for it. A couple of hits against the door latch and he was free. He knew that he might as well enjoy it before his owner figured out the trick to Kaev's escapes. Not that he wouldn't find some other way to take a vacation from the uptight purebreds around the kennel.
He paused to duck into the mouth of an alley way, turning to lick the bitter coffee from his fur. After the last of the frothy liquid was gone, he paused to reflect. So far he had made a nice snack out of a dropped bagel, and a toddler had grabbed his tail when he passed in front of an apartment complex. Not the most exciting adventure he had ever had, but it was exhilarating none the less. Now he was in search of something more. Something fun that would make him enjoy his day on the city.
Something worth escaping for.

First time getting away from the townhouse after having four puppies. Keeping one for herself and the others was, well given to her owner's closest friends, Touhii could also trust her owner's choice. Knowing that the owners weren't so bad. Though the puppy she kept couldn't be left alone or else she would cry, leading Touhii in trouble. She took the pup with her to 'teach' her some things about the city life.
The humans got out the way of Touhii, a group of children was petting her and her daughter. She didn't growl, but did a slight dodge from them. She didn't want anyone to touch her daughter, and not her really either, didn't know where those hands could have came from. A faint smile stayed on her face, as there were many comments about her 'doggy fashion'. She need the glasses, really wasn't so much of a fashion there and her daughter, well, just looked cute in different things.
The female was hungry from walking for a while and stopped in a semi bright alleyway, sitting her daughter next to her. She looked beside her, seeing her favorite meat shop. She did a short bark and seconds later a very chubby man came out with a plate of meat and a oversize bone for Unabara to teethe on.

Kaev sighed half heartedly. Life was simple. Far from the challenges he had hoped to face in this different world. There were more people for one thing, and less dogs. The collie stood and shook himself. No use hanging out here anymore. Might as well head back to the kennel for the afternoon. Fun. Kaev stepped from the shadow of the alley back onto the hectic sidewalk. He wasn't going to have anything dumped on him this time either. He pressed his right flank against the ivy strewn brick wall that separated the sidewalk from a few more run down buildings. The humans passed around him like he wasn't there, just continuing on with their hectic rushed lives. As he turned the corner, several unfamiliar smells hit his nose in quick secession. There was dogs nearby. Dogs and fresh meat. His two favorite things.
Looking ahead, his soft brown eyes fell on a vibrant teal streaked collie and a young puppy. Cautiously progressing, he waited until the butcher was totally out of sight before finally approaching the pair. He wasn't exactly hungry, so he stopped a decent distant away to show the female that he wasn't out to steal her meal, or her puppy. "Come here often?" He said lightly, with the echo of a grin on his face. The pair looked well groomed, much unlike the strays he had seen around earlier. Maybe they were like him. Owned dogs out for a little fun. He didn't recognize them in the least, so they weren't from around the area of the kennel he boarded at. The gray collie sat, his bushy tail wrapped carefully around his paws. Maybe they were city dogs. Definitely not like him. The city was nice and all, but the noise would be too much for him. Give him the quiet yard at his suburban kennel any time. Unless, of course, the day required a little adventure to liven things up. Thats when it always got interesting.

Touhii looked up from her meal and saw another collie, well groomed and looked like one of those dogs from the kennels. Unabara stepped forward to grab his tail, however her mother grabbed her and sat her back at her place. She hasn't seen this dog before, though she lives in the country most of the time, only come to the city during weekends for 'relaxation'. A small nod came from the female.
"Yes I do. Of course, this is my first time coming out here with my daughter though. Are you new around the area? I haven't seen you before." She said soflty while her daughter was taking her meal. It seems like seh was as hungry as Touhii was and sighed. "Would you like some of my meat too? I can always get some more." She asked him, petting her daughter's head softly.

He paused as the pair glanced up at him, smiling slightly when the pup tried to move towards him. He pulled his tail out of harm's way, laughing. "Sorry kid, I already got it yanked on by a human pup earlier." And more solemnly he added, "Avoid the light blue apartment complex about three blocks that-away." But his eyes twinkled when he spoke despite his seriousness. He listened carefully as she spoke. "Your daughter? She's real pretty." His gaze fell on the vivid fur of the teal pup. "New? You could say that. Whenever I take a leave from the kennel I always seem to end up here. Different parts though. And I haven't been here enough to actually recognize anything." He laughed again. He couldn't wait to get lost on his attempt at returning home. Another adventure.
Kaev waited as she spoke again. "I'm fine at the moment. A short while ago I took the liberty of freeing a man from his bagel." Ok, so the human had dropped it. But either way, it ended up in Kaev's stomach. He grimaced. It had been one of those "everything" bagels too. The garlic, salt, seeds and a bunch of other stuff that didn't necasarily go together all that well. But who was he to question the strange eating habits of the humans? "I'm Kaev by the way." The collie figured he might as well be the first one to put it out there. See if he could make as least one friend in this strange place.

Touhii smiled at the male, " Nice to meet you Kaev. I'm Touhii." She paused for her daughter to speak and nudged her head a little. The small puppy looked up at Kaev and smiled. "I'mma Unabara!" She exclaimed with a rather huge grin, while wagging her tail softly. "Do you have any children sir? Maybe we could be friends." She continued. On the other hand, Touhii was giggling to h herself.
"Anyway..." Touhii paused. "You seem rather groomed, do you belong in a kennel? My nephew is in one, same with a friend of mine. SO I can pretty much tell." She said with a calm soothing voice, a small grin appeared on her face. Looking down, seeing that Unabara cleared her whole plate of meat and whimpered. "...My meat.." She sighed and did a nudged the door, the butcher was standing right in front of her and whimpered up at him. Of course, He gave her another plate and saw Kaev. The man shrugged and gave him a plate of meat too and walked back in the shop.
This time, Touhii made sure that she ate her food this time.

Touhii. Pretty name. It seemed to suit the vividly streaked collie quite well. He nodded slightly, then grinned when Unabara was coaxed to blurting out her own. But the question that followed made his smile take a quiet exit from his face. "No, no kids to speak of yet. Sorry." It took a moment, but the playful grin returned when he saw Touhii's almost silent fit of laughter. In addition to her queston, he answered. "But yes, I am a kennel boy. Its a nice place down in the 'burbs. But everyone there is a little uptight, so I'm forced to break the rules once in a while. Its either that or be brainwashed beyond the point of expressing my fun loveable personality." Laughing, he shook his head. All they cared about was GKC and lineage.
He couldn't keep from laughing again when the collie discovered her meat had disappeared, courtesy of Unabara. Kaewatched calmly as Touhii played the butcher, but was surprised when he found a seperate plate laid out for him. "Generous human." He mused, taking a moment to eat a few pieces off the plate. Why let it go to waste? "So what about you? Kennel or owner? Two pretty ladies such as yourselves couldn't possibly be strays. His features turned into one of mock horror. Maybe they lived in the city. They must come here quite often to have the butcher know them so well.

After eating most of the meat off her plate, she smiled at him. "Isn't he? I knew him for a long while, which is why he gives me so much meat, Can barely eat it all sometimes." She paused to think for a moment. "Well.. My owner owns a kennel with a buddy of her's but I'm a owned dog." She added while looking up at the sky for something, her daughter pawing her tail softly. Unabara looked at Kaev with a tilted head.
"I thought all adults have puppies like me. Oh well, I guess I can still play with my brother and sisters." She said while pawing a small ball that she found. Unabara has some strange ways of entertaining herself. Other than that, Touhii looked at him for a moment. "I didn't know that kennels were uptight, then again. All kennels are different." She said softly while eating a last piece of meat.

An owned dog? Interesting enough. Secretly, Kaev was jealous. What was it like to wake up and have your human petting your head and telling you that you were a good dog? To get to enjoy a walk instead of having ten or so other dogs to compete with for the front? Kennels were different. Not unpleasant, but different. Catching him off guard, Unabara commented on him having no pups. "Eh, not everyone, kid. Some are just luckier than others is all." It was the closest to the truth he could manage. But he wasn't surprised when Unabara lost interest and returned to her ball. Pups had it easy. No worries, no fears.
His concentration returned to Touhii when she spoke up again. "The kennel itself isn't uptight. We have some pretty decent human to take care of us. Its the dogs themselves that are the problem. I'm sure the kennel your owner runs is different." Maybe it was back to the luck of the draw. Where you lived didn't depend on you, unless you were a stray. Something else was unexplained though. "What are you guys doing out then Won't your owner miss you if they realize you're gone?" When Kaev noticed the finished plate before Touhii, he pushed his her way with his paw. "If you're still hungry. I know I'm not going to finish this."
