Over the years I seem to have created my own form of the idea.

I seem to have added science to it...oops

So I guess I'd just like to know what other people try to do when dealing with the idea of Magic, it (generally speaking) being a force beyond the human mind.

I generally don't mess around with magic, but I don't mind reading about it, and I like magic systems and worlds that have a science to their magic. Magic just for magic's sake is boring and predictable, and can easily run ramped because of it. There needs to be rules, otherwise, what's stopping a character for doing anything?

I'd actually love to hear the science part of your magic. Can you post some of it up here?

I look at it this way.

What are the people who can't do magic going to do in their free time?

Magic is just another layer of interests for the academia of magical worlds.

/thoughts on magical yaoi.

Edit- Sugar! I found a way around this XD. If I can, anyone can.

Magic - Basically anything that the average person doesn't understand.

It means that a character may use a supernatural ability that is conceived as magic by others, but, because the character knows better, isn't magic. Same goes for use of technology.

In fact, there will only be one mention of a magical ritual.. and that is to summon death... inside a church.. because the priests did not have the desired information.

I use science in magic too. I just don't like to leave things totally unexplained. It's not exactly science, per se, I just tend to explain the mechanics of it.

Magic is fun to use to develop characters. It's interesting to see what people do with power--a few of them try and do useful things and keep order, but my favorite characters are the ones who abuse their power (and use it to abuse their inferiors!)

Okay, okay. I'll post some of my strange ideas here XD.
Please don’t steal; I've put my whole life into this crap.

So here's how it works--the readers digest version

Magic as the scientific world knows it, is a pseudo-molecule. It's a sort of energy that can be focused on and bent to ones will. Unfortunately this energy will leave traces of itself in ones bloodstream, and can be very poisonous when ingested in excess.

My world is an island style setting. Lots and lots of tiny, close together islands compose it. This is important, because magic also has current that are closely related to the flow of the ocean--there are nine in all that rage in power from a 22 to a 7 on the Loetjer scale. Of course the currents change, they shift and grow in power. All of that is to say that, there are certain day’s times and places when women can’t give birth because of the magical influence of their surroundings.

Going along with the current thing, every person has a Current. Which is a term used to describe the action potential, or kinetic influence one can have on a magical current.

There's also a disease that's connected to the use of magic. It’s a virus that causes the magic in the blood to excite. This of course causes it to seek exit in any way it can. It's called Berzerking once it hits the nervous system, because the host body will lose control of its own actions.

I go through all the trouble of typing that and then no one even reads it.

The forum died again

Yeah, this guild is pretty slow as a whole, lol.

But man, that magic system sounds pretty awesome. I can tell you've put a lot of thought into it, and that's always what separates the good stories from the not-so-good. I hope to read your whole story one day.

well we're kind of all over the world, plus that tends to be the rule for guilds as a whole.

Some would argue that its too much.

Hey, I can't wait to read yours, of course none of use will know who it was you, becuase we don't know each others real names, but i still cant wait to read it.

Maybe an inside joke between characters?
As soon as I hit both of my goals (SuWriMos and my 200-page goal) I'm gonna see about starting a trilogy.
I have an idea that could be used for it, it just needs to be expanded first.
Oh, the fun of plotting and planning. Plotting in the literal sense- I've gotta plot them out!
