Okay, so this is probably not the most intelligent question asked in the Intelligent Questions Thread, BUT! it is a question nonetheless that will help me become intelligent.
Anyways, I was wondering, How do evolving items work? If you buy them, do they still evolve even in your inventory? And, what makes a 2nd generation item different from it's regular counterpart?
I would appreciate it if ANYONE can answer my questions.
Thank you.

When you buy them, they will still evolve in your inventory. Even if you're not wearing them. And the 2nd generation is the same as the first generation, it's just that you would be buying it after the first generation has evolved, so it won't be caught up in evolution stages with the first gen. It will evolve the first time when the first gen evolves the second time. Does that make any sense? I started getting confused as to how I should explain it. lol

Alright.
So that means that second Generation is same as original, but will get the original's evolving parts later?
what confuses me is that when I look up second generations and third generations and the original, the things in them are all different. Will one day they all eventually be the same?
thanks for making things a bit clearer by the way.

I had the same problem And it is hard to explain When I think of evolving items though, I also think of chickens So I'll use chickens to explain this^^
If you have one hen, its the first generation That hen lays an egg; the second generation The second generation will hatch And then it'll lay an egg and make the next generation And after much time, they all grow to look the same as the first But the time difference makes them look different for a few weeks
Does that help you any?

Although the RayRai's chicken analogy does make it somewhat easier to understand. 3nodding

Yeah, I was confused with it, too. Let me try to help, too. When an evolving item evolves, it only has a limited number of poses during each stage of evolution. It's usually 4 or 5 or something. When it reaches the next stage, it does not have the poses from the first stage any more. It has new 4 or 5 poses. But, once it finishes evolving, all the previous stages will be unlocked. You probably noticed how Dr Singh says: "Item-that-and-that has finished evolving and all of its previous poses are now unlocked.", during her weekly evolving item reports. So, before they finish evolving, items from different generation look pretty different. I remember wanting to buy Alruna's rose because it had a cute little bat, and then some time later, when I looked at it again, the bat was not cute any more. It had an ugly, grinning face. Well, anyway, I hope I explained it well. ^_^
