With the coming of the Daleks next week I felt this was the right timing.

Well, it's somewhat of a tie between 'The Daleks' and 'Genesis of the Daleks'. The Daleks, because it was the first time you ever got to see them, and there's a certain factor of creepiness, I guess, in how they were presented. Genesis, because it was, in my opinion, The Fourth at his finest, Harry at his finest, and Sarah at her finest. I can't decide. gonk

My opinion is a bit biased since I've only seen Destiny of the Daleks and bits of Genesis of the Daleks. The episode that tops any of the dalek episodes I've seen of old or new Who is definitely Dalek. I rewatched it recently thinking I wouldn't like it as much as I did the first time I'd seen it since I'd been spoiled of daleks with their overuse henceforth, but I was surprised. It was still absolutely brilliant.
Even after seeing Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks, Dalek still manages to put the fear of daleks in me. Christopher Eccleston's reaction to seeing the thing is an amazing subtle mixture of fear, anger, and then an unsettling amount of sadistic glee in seeing it in pain. I think David Tennant is a magnificent actor, but I don't know if he could've sold it as well as Eccleston did. As a person new to the world of Doctor Who the first time I saw it, I learned everything I needed to know about daleks in that meeting.
And I have to end this post right now before I say dalek one more time and have to cut something.

I'm not going to vote because I haven't seen most of them.
I like Dalek and Resurrection of the Daleks, out of the ones I've seen.

knightofthe21stcentury I don't care that I haven't seen it, but next week's one. DAVROS! whee "In the history of the universe, this moment is unique, Davros LIVES!" Too bad Wisher was on holiday to film Destiny of the Daleks, but Gooderson made a good Davros. But in my opinion Molloy IS THE TRUE EMPEROR OF THE DALEKS! As for my favorite it was Doomsday, because it was my first ever Dalek story, and next thing you know I'm here making a poll of your favorite Dalek episodes. But I never got to see some of the Hartnell ones like "Masterplan" and "Mision to the Unkown", and none of the Troughton ones. The only surrviving episode I haven't seen is "The Dalek Invasion of Earth"

Hmm... Genesis was fantastic, yes, but I'm going to be really radical here and say Revelation. Probably not the most popular story ever, but I love it.

^Revelation is definitely an unusual choice. I actually read Evelyn Waugh's 'The Loved One' not long before I saw Revelation (not by choice, it was a class assignment), so I immediately noticed how that book influenced the story. At the time I thought it was pretty lame, especially that annoying psychotic mortician lady, but rewatching it on DVD has given me a new appreciation for the story as satire/social commentary.
My favorite is Genesis of the Daleks, followed by Remembrance of the Daleks. The former has some great secondary cast performances (especially Davros and Nyder), and some really nice dialog. Remembrance is mainly just an action romp, but the story is fairly solid, it added a bit to our knowledge of Time Lord history (the Hand of Omega), and there were lots of nice nods back to An Unearthly Child (even if they screwed up I.M. Foreman).

Genesis. It is the ultimate Doctor Who adventure!!
Resurrection is pretty awful, but Revelation is an absolute gem. It's more a Davros story than a Dalek story...
Remembrance is brilliant too, with focus on the Doctor and his secretive past as well as the Daleks.
The Daleks is obviously a classic, eerie, scary, clasutrophobic...
The Dalek Invasion of Earth is another iconic masterpiece, that cliffhanger at the end of part 1....Gives me chills!!!

I went for Remembrance, purely because that was my introduction to Who and I was hooked. To this day I can recite whacking great chunks of the script!
Mind you, after Davros turned up, I nearly got banned from watching the show again because I had full-blown screaming nightmares for a week! I was only 4, though...

The first Time I saw the Daleks was in the Movie 2151 or what ever. That came out in the 60's. I saw it on TV when I was 8 years old.
