Katrina was following a butterfly through the meadow. She was determined to catch it, as she wanted to know if it was really a butterfly or a flutter soquili. Her daddy, Kiun, had told her about them and now Katrina was determined to see one. She flattened her ears as the butterfly flew way up high and away. "Fine then." She said primly, and trotted out of the meadow towards the river.

Alik yawned as boredom settled upon him like a blanket. He was lying underneath a tree, relaxing. There was nothing to do, and it was starting to irritate him. Sure, he was lazy, but at this moment in time he desperately wanted to do something. A bee kept buzzing near him, and his ear flicked in annoyance. He looked off into the meadow, his mind working overtime to figure out something to do, only to see a foal chasing a butterfly. He tilted his head and got up, ambling towards the other foal, trying not to fall on his wobbling legs.

Katrina paused in her lively trot as she saw another foal walking towards her on wobbly legs. She sniffed the air curiously, he didn't smell dangerous. She eyed the newcomer carefully, she didn't want to associate herself with scruffy ruffians. Her brother was the only exception to that rule. She made a mental note to herself to add that to her list.
She trotted over to the other foal and stopped a couple feet away from him, wobbling only slightly. She asked, "Who might you be?"

An eyebrow rose against his will as he gazed over at the other foal, who now turned out to be a girl. She was light in color and had yellow hair. He continued walking towards her, at a semi-slow pace, his legs now less wobbly. He had been lying down to long if his legs had finally stopped being asleep. Alik was now only a few steps away from her. Maybe this girl was like his sister?
He looked over at her and answered her question. “I’m Alik Elric. And who are you?” He asked, waiting patiently, sort of.

Katrina mulled over the name in her mind, he seemed to have a last name, Elric, so he probably came from a distinguished family like herself. She answered proudly, "I am Katrina Von Helson, pleased to meet you Alik." She was cautious about letting her guard down, but Alik seemed nice enough, so she asked,
"Why are you here?" She didn't want to overwhelm him with questions, as Marie had been stressing earlier about conversation techniques, but she was very curious.

Katrina. Kind of a pretty name he supposed. She also had a last name, like him, but longer. Of course, his last name was better, but whatever. He bowed his head slightly and muttering a “pleased to meet you as well.” She seemed okay, but he still kept his guards up in case she turned out to be… Err… Different.
“I am bored. Extremely so,” to punctuate his words he yawned, “and I decided to come over and see what you were doing. Maybe we could play a game, or something.” He answered, hoping slightly that she would.

Katrina sniffed primly at the sub-par welcome, but quickly perked up at the mention of a game. A game might be fun. For a second she worried how her hooves might look after, but rid the thought from her mind as she remembered something her father Kiun had told her. You're only a foal once. Katrina made up her mind just then to be the best foal she could be. She would be a mare forever, but not a filly for long.
She mentally chased away the preppy diva personality and wiggled her rump excitedly, and totally forgetting everything her mother had taught her, asked, "What game do you want to play? I haven't gotten dirty in such a long time, I think I've forgotten how." She giggled.

Alik raised his eyebrow at such a quick change of behavior. This might be the reason why he kept up his guards. “Uh…” He thought for a moment, tilting his head in thought and flicking his tail back and forth. “How about, tag? Ever played that before?” His sister had played that with him once, and he was pretty good at the game, although he did trip often. Not as much as his sister though.
But he asked himself, what’s the point in being a young colt if he didn’t have fun? She had said she hadn’t been dirty in a long time. Well, he had also tried his best to stay spotless, being that he never actually put in an effort into anything. Today he would change that, if only to play a game and maybe even make a friend. “Well?”

Katrina felt her normal preppy diva attitude trying to worm its way back into place, but she shoved it down and said brightly, "Tag...what is tag?" She bit her lip, thinking hard. She might have played it once or twice with her brother Lucifer, but she just couldn't remember how to play it.
She saw that Alik was a little flustered at her sudden change in temperment, so she let a little of the preppy attitude back in, just so she didn't freak him out. "But, don't you get dirty playing tag?" Today she didn't really care, but she didn't want to come home too much of a mess.

Alik didn’t really notice the change in attitude as her tried to think of how to play tag. He flicked his ear then responded, “It’s when you touch someone then you run away from them I think. I guess we can change it so that it’s like hide and seek. Ever play that one?” He asked. He had only played hide and seek by itself and it always made his heart beat faster. Maybe they could just play that one?
But he really wanted to play tag. And tag/hide and go seek sounded like a lot of fun too. Just thinking about playing a game was making his heart start to beat faster. His eyes lighted with excitement that he could barely contain.

Katrina's eyes shone excitedly, and she responded, "I've played hide and seek loads of times, but Hide and Tag sounds much more fun!" SHe thought for a moment, then continued, "How about we make it like this? One of us hides while the other tries to find them, once they do, then the soquili looking for the soquili hiding has to tag the soquili hiding, but the soquili hiding can run away from them!" She pawed at the ground with a bronze hoof. She was impatient to get started.

Alik smiled as he imagined the game and nodded his head, “I think that sounds like so much fun. How about you hide first, since you’re a girl and stuff, and I’ll give you ten seconds to go hide?” He was practically jumping in excitement, and his tail flicked back in forth, showing his excitement and anxiousness. He wanted to play this game coming from his own genius, and he wanted to start it now. His heart was already beating so fast, sounding like a hummingbird, and he waited for her to run off so he could begin his counting.

Katrina gave Alik a slight glare at the girl comment, but was too excited about the game to make something of it. She looked around, and said, "No peeking!" She dashed off to a place she remembered from chasing the butterfly in the meadow. There was a flat rock in there, but Katrina had noticed a deep crevice in it, making a hole big enough for her to fit into.
It was covered in shadows, so if she didn't move much it would be difficult for someone else to find the hole.
She squeezed herself in it, and waited for Alik to start trying to find her. She fought back a giggle, hoping he wouldn't find her right away. She liked the suspense.

Alik rolled his eyes then closed them, silently counting to thirty in his head. He heard her run off in some random direction, probably thinking she had found the best spot to hide in. He had no doubts that he would find her quickly. His left foreleg dug against the dirt.
When he had finally reached thirty seconds of anxious waiting he opened his eyes and sucked in a deep breath. “READY OR NOT, HERE I COME!” He bellowed, knowing that she would hear him. He usually talked in low tones, he didn’t like to talk much at all really, but when he had to be loud he could be.
Turning his head in the direction he had heard her go in, slightly to his left, he dug his hoof into the ground again before taking off. He saw a rock in the distance that was surrounded by high grasses. He didn’t think she could be under it, it was a rock for goodness sakes, but he did slow down, if only to catch his breath.

Katrina stopped moving around to get comfortable as she heard Alik yell. She held very still. She could hear him coming in this direction, but not quickly. She let out a slow breath, and seeing a bit of light shining on her coat, scooted farther back under the rock until nothing shone on her. She grinned, satisfied that Alik would have a tough time finding her.
She looked up and saw out of the corner of her eye that Alik had stopped. She didn't think that he knew she was here, but she didn't want to take any chances, so she held very, very still.
