Hope you don't mind a slightly different setting.

The morning air was cool yet humid, the earth below damp and covered by cool green vegetation. In a jungle beyond the savanna plains, leaves rustled by the soft touch of a feline's blue pelt. For once, this lioness wasn't exhausted from the heat back in the savanna. She prowled the area silently, staying low on the ground just to make the mood. Spots of sunlight peered in through various holes in the treetops, brightening her way as she moved forward.

It was much easier for her to blend in with the green background compared to the yellow grass, and thus enjoyed more time here. Though the food found in the jungle was less favorable than the plains, it was tolerable. But to this particular lioness, she was on the search for a nice watering hole; a refreshing place to cool off in. After all, it hadn't been long since she had woken up.

"Aha.." she purred, her purple eyes spotting the pool of blue liquid.

As far as she was concerned, no animals were there to bother her this morning. She could drink peacefully. Straightening up from her crouched stance, she trotted over to the water to take a drink.

The cold air felt like heaven to the tired male as he wandered rather aimlessly across the lands searching. What was he searching for? The blue male wasn't quite sure to be honest. It was always different, every night, every time he couldn't sleep. Most nights he looked for a pool of water simply because it always brought back some of his finer memories. Ones involving his sister and his former best friend. Things were so different now.

Heaving a sigh he shook his head his dark mane falling into his purple eyes. "Things were so much simpler when I was a child." He murmured to himself his gaze flickering around his surroundings. There were so many trees...had he been here before? Maybe. He couldn't be sure after all more often than not he would simply let his paws carry him away to a direction unknown.

Lifting his head to the sky he inhaled deeply closing his eyes as he paused in his walk. He could smell it, that pure smell of water. A smile broke across his lips as he continued in his walk his pace picking up with every step until he could see it. The glorious liquid that had been such a major part of his childhood. His vision was blinded by his goal to be beside the edge to take a gander at his reflection. It wasn't until he was at the edge of the pool that he saw her.

Purple eyes widening he stepped back swallowing instantly. Uh-oh.

Subira was too focused on cleaning herself up that she hadn't noticed the male arrive. But she heard his hasty retreating step and her entire body froze, muscles tensed and ready to pounce. A couple minutes passed without either of them doing anything so the lioness relaxed a bit, assuming no danger at the moment. Slowly, she turned her head in the male's direction, her gaze falling on his bright blue pelt and dark mane.

He looked... flabbergasted.

And she imagined that was what he saw on her face - except, perhaps a bit calmer. Admittedly, he was a handsome male. His purple eyes resembled her own - though filled with a certain emotion she couldn't exactly pick out. His paws were the oddest sort to her with their stripes of dark colors. Subira studied him momentarily with narrowed eyes, before turning onto her stomach to get up on all fours.

"Umm, hello," she greeted him quietly with a nod of her head.

Akira stood there his body ridged and tense as he kept his eyes trained upon her. She too kept still unmoving, probably as uncomfortable as he was until he saw her relax. There was no danger, the large male was certain of that, but he couldn't get his body to relax. No. The reason was simple, it was because the lion before him was female. He didn't deal well with women for reasons he could not be certain of. All he knew was that it was always awkward and uncomfortable for him to be around them.

Alas, this was not something he could avoid.

When she spoke he moved back again as though afraid, which was quite the silly thought, simply because of the fact that the blue male was bigger than average, undoubtedly larger than the female he seemed so frightened by. Swallowing quite audibly he stepped forward again, his body still tense, before speaking. "H-hi."

Was there something behind her? She turned her head to take a swift glance into the trees, but did not see anything. Or could it be her? The lioness frowned, shifting her attention back to the male on the other side. He looked very tense. Frightened. But what could be the reason? At the moment, it wasn't in her place to find out, let alone be curious of the one before her. But she couldn't help it.

It felt as though she was the problem and that made her rather uncomfortable. What had she done? She'd never met this male before to have caused any harm. Perhaps coming off as harmless would help, she thought. Subira sighed softly, sitting down on her haunches while keeping her purple eyes on him.

"Well, um," Subira began. "What brings you to these parts, sir?"

Akira was definitely not fond of the way he was acting. In fact he absolutely hated it but he couldn't help it, it was just the way his body, and mind, would react whenever he came across a female. His heart pounded in his chest as he watched her sink down and sit. At least she was trying to make him feel more comfortable. He knew she was but it didn't really help him too much.

What was he doing here? To be honest he didn't quite remember, all he knew was that he was sleepy but couldn't sleep. That he had been wandering looking for...He shook his head as he furrowed his brows together as the thought about it. "I...I don't know honestly..." He mumbled managing to be rather calm about it. His mind was racing trying to figure out what he had been searching for. What he did know was that he had found it whatever it was.

"I...I was looking for something, I found it but..." He trailed off looking at her once again. He still wasn't comfortable but the fact he forgot what he had been doing had loosened him up. Slightly.

"Mmm... I see," Subira raised a brow in slight confusion.

He was an interesting male - unlike any she'd come across before. His personality peaked her own curiosity and yet it kind of made her want to avoid it. He was stuttering a lot and still very stiff, even though the lioness had tried to show again and again that she had no intention on attacking the male.

"Was the... er, something you found not to your liking?"

The female stretched her forelimbs, brushing the tips of her paws on the water's surface. She quickly repressed the urge to just playfully splash him as that would probably surprise or anger the blue male.

Simply put, Akira felt like a fool. Here he was before a harmless female who tried to make light conversation and he was practically shaking in his boots, metaphorically of course. Heaving a sigh he shook his head at himself. Then she asked him the question and his attention immediately returned to her. "Ah...I'm not sure..." He admitted rather embarrassed as his brows knit together in deep concentration. "I think it was fine. But there was something." He mumbled more to himself than to her as his gaze followed the movement of her paw.

When it touched the water it struck him. Water! That's what he had been looking for. For one brief moment a smile of pure delight danced across his features as his body relaxed and he stepped toward the clear liquid. When he remembered the female not to far away he froze, mid-step. A rather unwise choice that sent him crashing to the ground.

-

Subira began to chuckle as she saw him smiling for the first time when all of a sudden, he seemed to freeze - thus toppling himeslf onto the ground. She hurried forward into the water, not thinking twice about getting wet, and reached him in a matter of seconds with a worried frown. Now she wasn't sure if helping him up was a good idea in case he reacted badly to her touch. Awkwardly, she laid down on her belly a couple feet away from him, tilting her head curiously. She was tempted to laugh but instead, held her composure. "Are you alright?" she asked.

What an unusual male. His uneasiness made him look vulnerable and his current state on the floor didn't exactly help ease that anxiety. Finally, flicking her tail from one side to the other, Subira released that soft chuckle.

-

A groan slipped from the rather large male's maw as he pushed himself up out of the water eyes tightly shut. His body ached from the sudden fall and slowly he opened his purple eyes shaking himself. "Ugh." He muttered as he stepped back before falling onto his butt. "I-I'm fine." He stated his gaze flickering towards her before back to the water that hadn't exactly welcomed him.

"I...I was looking for water...I missed it." He whispered as though he was worried of what she would think when she heard his words, if she had heard them at all. Slowly, carefully he edged his way into the water again sinking down to his belly enjoying the feel of it lapping against him.

-

Apparently so," the lioness watched him scooch forward towards the water, his expression evidently saying that he enjoyed the cool liquid. She didn't want to impose, but somewhere inside, curiosity burned within her to know more about the male's adnormal reaction to her. He seemed to be okay at the moment though - then again, maybe the male was just glad he'd found what he had been looking for.

"Mmm. Would you like to enlighten me as to why you seem to freeze every minute in my presence?" Subira asked, her orbs focusing on his visage to watch for a sudden change in reaction. She kept still, with the exception of the continual movement of her tail.

-

As she moved closer to him he kept his gaze from her. Maybe if he pretended that she wasn't there he wouldn't have any problem enjoying the water. Unfortunately for him it didn't work, especially with the fact he could constantly see her out of the corner of his eye. Then she spoke. "I...I don't deal well with...with...with women." He told her quickly turning his head away from her searching. Searching for something to fix his attention upon.

Luckily for him he spotted a small fish that kept his attention. "I just don't." He told her his tone harsh without him realizing it. He didn't want to talk about it.

-

Subira flattened her ears, recoiling to his cold tone. Well that was strange. Perhaps she had hit a nerve. Yes, that's what it was. But. Not dealing well with women - she couldn't tell whether she was actually offended by this or just trying to reorganize her thoughts. It was a first time for her, meeting a male who found females to be repulsive. The lioness regained her composure and stood up on all fours, moving past the blue male, into the waterhole, flicking cold drops into his face with one quick movement of her tail.

She wasn't leaving... per se. Just returning back to her own spot before he'd arrived. When Subira reached the other side, she shook the droplets of water from her body and relaxed back on the ground again, resting her chin on her front paws. She'd wait forever for answers if she had to.

-

Slowly he moved his head back to settle on his paws as he watched her from the corner of his eyes. He could see that he hadn't exactly been kind when he answered her question. A frown settled upon his maw as he heaved a heavy sigh. This was one of the reasons he didn't deal well with them. As soon as they got the tiniest bit sad he felt bad. Felt like it was his fault. Not to mention he wasn't sure how to handle himself around them.

"I'm sorry." He told her lifting her head and glancing over. "I told you I don't deal well with females. I don't know how to act around them or anything."

-

At least he'd apologized. That was a nice start. She looked at him with her purple eyes, watching him carefully. "Perhaps I overreacted," she shook her head apologetically. "You did warn me, technically speaking."

Underneath his 'tough' exterior, he was simply, very confused. She chided herself for adding to that confusion. Maybe she could help him out. Give him lessons about how females acted, reacted, etc. It wouldn't be too hard. Or maybe it would. But Subira wouldn't mind - as long as he was okay with it... as long as he was willing to learn that all females weren't bad.

-

"It's my own fault." He replied pushing her apologies away. He didn't want them. "I spent my whole life with only two people, never branching from them." He told her suddenly seeming so relaxed as he tilted his head back. He was pretending that he was speaking to his sister, the only female he ever knew how to act around. It helped that they were related. He felt that by telling her a bit about him it'd help him deal with her. So he wouldn't seem so rigid, so odd...so mean even.

"I never thought it was important enough for me to look into. I never cared. I had everything I ever wanted." He said with a light shrug as he shifted the water with his paw. "Then things fell apart."

-

She stared at the lion on the other side, a feeling of sorrow slowly moving through her body. Not knowing what to say, Subira awkwardly shifted to her haunches, her eyes unwavering from him. "Only two people..." she mumbled more to herself. It made sense. To be carefree when you had everything you wanted. There was no worry, no fear. But then he said that last line, and she was once more, baffled.

"Did someone..." she was implying death, but surely it couldn't have been.

-

"No. No one died." He replied moving to stand. He stepped back before turning around to trot out of the water. Shaking his body, to rid himself of the access water, he once again dropped to his belly head resting on his paws. "She left, then he left and I followed." He mumbled closing his eyes as he inhaled and exhaled deeply. He didn't want to think about anything anymore. It was too complicated, there was just too much trouble and toil between the trio.

"I saw a side of him I never wanted to see. After that there was nothing." Simply and to the point. If only things hadn't happened like that. Would have still been happy? No probably not.

-

Subira quickly mouthed a small 'oh' as he finished his explanation. He looked so hurt, as if someone had ripped his heart out (or maybe not to that extent). She couldn't help but begin to pity the poor male. All he needed was support and affection. Something to bring him out of his misery, at least until it wouldn't hinder his interactions with others. The lioness nimbly stepped back into the water, back to him. She could tell she was going to be doing that a lot at this point in time. "Perhaps I can fix that."

She hoped it would be the start of something better.
