the world ish already being greatly effected by it.....n tho were TRYIN to go green......its barely helping out...n thx to global warming....were having MORE natural disasters...we have more hurricanes n more tornados in history...
dats my opinion tho
or if dat doesnt
we mite run out of valuable resources

Did you know that the planet is still technically in an Ice age until the pole's melt? Although I agree that we're slowly destroying the planet by using all its recourses to pollute, what's happening at the moment is completely natural and has been happening for millenia. If you look back over the Earths history you will see times of great storms, Ice ages, ages so hot the seas boiled to next to nothing, earth quakes, sand storms, floods, droughts. All before humans so much as wondered onto dry land. I personally find the idea of this global warming hysteria highly amusing. If people looked into the Earths history rather than just mankinds they wouldn't be stupid enough to blame everything on global warming.
As my husband has sarcastically pointed out: There are three causes for everything wrong in the world. If it's social the problems Marilyn Manson. If it's to do with health the problems smoking, and if it's a natural cause it's global warming.
Yes we're not treating the Earth with the respect she deserves, but to start screaming global warming at a tidal wave is ridiculous.
But yes, keeping on topic: I believe, unless an evolution of the mind happens soon, mankind will destroy itself.

Ok... I'm just going to make a random punch in the dark... but isn't it Death that kills us? Or... wait... does that even make sense? I just confused myself. Anyway, on the topic of Global Warming. I happen to be one activist who thinks Global Warming is natural. Sure, we're speeding it up and could probably help slow it down, but it's natural. There's no possible way we can stop it permanently. It's supposed to happen. It's a natural process, and it's how the world "resets" itself. Not to mention: During the age of the Dinosaur, temperatures and climates were not the same as they are now. The sea was shallower, too. Then comes whatever killed off the dinosaurs, be it changing climate or an asteroid or maybe aliens. The seas rise, temperatures and climates change. That is my speech on why I believe Global Warming is nothing to get over-upset about. Thanks for reading one of my many random rants. mrgreen

To go along with what you said, Haruna, the Earth at this point, is in a state of trying to cool itself off, or so I believe.
Do you know that actual purpose of volcanoes? Its to cool down the center of the Earth. It is actually speculated that our own moon used to be very similar to Earth and thats why it has so many craters. After a volcano comes up and erupts, you have a crater left.
Earthquakes are very similar. In order to release some of that pressure build-up, the Earth must make room for those volcanoes. This means the plates must move around a bit to release a bit of that pressure.
I'm not saying that the 'world will end' or that 'we will all be killed off in one fell swoop', I'm just saying that its natural, and that the Earth could eventually turn into our moon. Every planet, I'm sure would do that.
Which brings me to the after effects of when Earth turns into the moon. Look at our other planets with multiple moons. Some of those moons we are sure are just build-up of clutter that has bumped into each other, others could quite possibly be outdated planets. Earth may became a moon, but other bits of clutter may come by, end up with a great enough gravitational pull and create another full planet.
Also, by then, I'm sure that we would have figured out how to adapt to other climates. We would be able to live on other planets by the time our beloved Earth would reach that point...assuming we don't kill each other off first.
Honestly, you want to save the human race? Smile more. Smile at random people, not just people you know. Someone looks like they are having a bad day, smile at them. Trust me, a simple smile from someone unknown can change someone's day. And smiles tend to be contagious. you smile at them, they smile at someone else, and on the smile goes. At work and at school, talk to the "quiet one" the "loner". Include everyone. Open your group of friends to those who don't seem to have friends.
I know its difficult to help our fellow man, especially when so often it cost money that we don't (think) we have, but smiles are free and endless. A friendly 'hello' it also free and endless.
I see this at work everyday. In my job of retail, we will have customers come in that aren't...in such good moods to put it nicely. One smile and a friendly greeting and sometimes an offer of help can get them out of that mood and into a better one. Usually thats how my day goes. Its nice to see the change that I can provide in people's moods, especially when its for the better.
So you want to save humankind? Smile. Thats it. Just smile. 3nodding biggrin 3nodding

As a side not to my earlier rant: I was talking to my dad last night (it was yet another rant, started by this conversation and going into economics) when my dad said he thinks we'll have an ice age soon. Within our lifetimes. He agrees with me that Global Warming is natural. He had more on the matter, but I don't feel like typing it up.

I agree with this thread's general concensus that global warming is natural. I also agree that humans can slow it down by going green. Isn't there some study that says the hole in the ozone layer is getting smaller? The efforts being made to stop global warming are helping, or if not, it's pretty coincidental that the ozone is healing itself as we are getting more environmentally conscious. >.<"

I saw we actually have a parent in here. Which I think is awsome! I like it when parents take an interest in the things their kids do. And with everything so computer orientated now, I guess it is no worse than taking the kid to his/her baseball or soccer games.
Anyway, yes Global warming is a natural thing, and technically we are still coming out of an ice age as we still have a few glaciers remaining. Volcanoes don't necesarily cool the core, just release pressure. And if I'm not mistaken most of the craters on the moon are from asteroid and meteor. Hey I actually remembered something from my science classes lol
Once Global warming has taken place, we will then enter back into a cooling phase again and glaciers will return. Natural cycle. Theories suggest that this has occured several times over since the planet came to existance. Both complete Ice and no ice as well as the paritals (glaciers).

Also, the world WILL NOT END unless it is blown to peices by... whatever. Or consumed in fire and burned to a crisp by the sun. So yeah. The world will end AS WE KNOW it. Thanks for letting me get that point across.

It's a global reset button of sorts. Anything that can't survive the heat and cold will die off and those that can will thrive.

I took the cooling off thing straight from my volcanoes course I took a couple semesters ago, lol. But yeah, a lot of the craters that we see on the moon are from asteroids and such. hehe
Oh...and Haruna...you reminded me of a song: This is the end of the world as we know it. hehe (yay 80s and 90s rock, how I do love you!)
