Shyer strode along wearily down the tree lined sidewalk, her hand clutching a tightly rolled up parchment. This in itself was a small oddity since no one of ordinary habits would actually use parchment, yet the proof was in the pudding. Ahead of her danced Aelia who had been in surprisingly high spirits since the morning had began for reasons Shyer has unable to extract from her young charge. Pulling out the crumpled piece of paper Shyer re-read the message. It was short and simple.

Quote:
'Forgive my hasty entreaty but a meeting is in order between yourself and...others. Please meet me in the Barton plaza next to the fountain on the afformentioned date.

Kind regards, Marzipan.
'

She folded up the letter again along its many crease lines, pocketing it yet again and wonderin at the mystery surrounding it. Who were these 'others' and Why did Marzipan, the just as mysterious Ashe, need to tell her something, and in such an open place? It didn't matter, Shyer had now made it a habit to just go along with whatever plans headed her way from the strange people she had met in her travels, especially when those people often left odd objects in her possession.

Finally the large fountain was within a few feet and she flopped herself down onto it's edge, occassionally splashed with water emerging from its bubblers. Now it was just the waiting game. Little did she know she was not the only person whom this message had been sent to.

Mireille glanced down at the pale boy beside her. He was still so confusing to her, so capable despite being just born. Well, just hatched, anyway. He walked beside her without stumbling, clad in colors far too vivid for his pale skin, but rather than look sickly he looked... ethereal. Ethereal, and sweet enough to give her cavities.

Her hand reached out, fingers brushing through the pale silk of his hair, and when he smiled up at the contact, she found herself smiling right back at him. She'd named him Julien Michel rather hesitantly, but the boy had taken right to the names, sounding each out carefully, then beaming when she gave in to the urge to nickname him. Jewels were his eyes, so Jules he had become.

Not even two weeks again, Mireille would've been extremely wary of the letter she'd recieved, but after everything that had happened... after Jules, she'd decided to go along. And so she'd packed up a backpack of goods, including the plush bear she'd given Jules just before he'd decided to come out, and they'd made their way to Barton plaza, both of them curious just who they might find.

There were too many people. Felicity walked nervously down the sidewalk trying to dodge the happy shoppers as best she could. The walkway was filled with them, each bumping and chattering amongst themselves.

Oh how Felicity wished for her secluded home! Having so many bodies pressed against her own made her feel just a teensy bit claustrophobic. She gazed down at the little golden haired boy beside her. Toulouse was quiet and subdued as usual, but he walked with a confident air that was not a bit bothered by all the people mulling about around him. Even the ones who gave him odd stares. Felicity guessed it was a bit strange for a young boy to be so well dressed and well behaved at the same time. It didn't help the weird factor that he was actually a thousand year old man trapped in a child's body either

Felicity ground the unwanted letter in her hand into a tighter ball. The letter was handwritten on old yellow parchment paper. The paper was so old that it was super soft. It was a strange oddity and Felicity didn’t like it one bit. She also didn’t like the fact that some unknown person by the name of Marzipan had demanded she and Toulouse appear before a fountain to meet “others.” When she questioned Toulouse on the matter, he merely shrugged and flashed her his irritatingly all knowing smile. Lord what a mess. Despite Felicity’s dislike for towns and large crowds, she felt compelled to answer the letter, no matter how ambiguous the person was. She wondered how many Ashe might be out there and why she felt the need to go.

Squaring her shoulders and holding her head erect, Felicity walked with a defiant air through Barton Plaza, anticipating an awkward meeting. She spotted the fountain in the distance, and already strange people were beginning to assemble.

Cindy continued to read the letter she'd received in the mail just a few days ago as they walked closer and closer toward their destination. "Who's Marzipan? And why exactly is this so important?" She asked the small boy holding her hand.

She hadn't planned on going to whatever this was, but for whatever reason, Aesop had insisted. Though, he himself had no idea who this woman was... Something felt important about it. Very important. "I am... Not sure..." His red eyes looked up at her pleadingly, which could only cause her to sigh.

"Don't worry Aesop... I trust you." No matter how strange this seemed. The boy gave a smile as she assured him and continued to look around curiously as he'd previously been doing. He did like to examine things. He'd asked so many questions. Commented on so many things... It was... Interesting.

Today, Cindy wore a simple outfit. A horned hat, red and black striped shirt, black jacket, and black pants. Aesop's new outfit accented her nicely. What with his white stripes and hair. And heck, if anyone asked, he was an albino. Simple enough.

As they reached the fountain, Cindy looked around. Aesop stared at the water curiously. "So... How are we supposed to know what this Marzipan person looks like?" Aesop wouldn't know, so why was she bothering to ask? With a sigh, she picked him up and sat on the sides of the fountain, the boy earning himself a place in her lap.

"You and I will just have to keep our eyes open, now won't we?" She smiled down at him and looked into those red eyes that contrasted her own. Aesop smiled back to her and nodded, then both began looking around for the person they didn't know.

Bemused and slightly lost in thought, Xare kept a firm grip on her young charge's hand as they walked towards the fountain that was their destination. When she had first received the message, she'd considered not attending. However... there was still so much to be learnt about the Ashe in her care. The Court had not had to deal with children for such a very long time that there were very major gaps in the knowledge that she had about not only the Ashe, but children themselves.

Glancing over, she eyed the Ashe in question. Zaden was now no longer an egg, and had become quite a.. precocious child. She often found herself quite frazzled - an unusual and uncomfortable experience for one of the Fae - while in Zade's presence, or after another of his irrepressible mischiefs had rocked the Court. That was not to say that Zade was impossible, exactly. Just difficult. Very difficult.

As if sensing her thoughts, Zaden turned his head to look up at Xare, a questioning gleam in his eyes. A soft smile that would have surprised the majority of the court appeared on the fae's face, and she made a conscious effort to push aside the negative thoughts she was having. "I'm just a little worried about the meeting," she said quietly to her charge, "hopefully we can learn a bit more about how to take care of you properly, hmm?"

Zaden seemed to consider this for a while, before giving her a slightly mischievous grin. "But, Xare... that wouldn't be half as much fun!"

"Well... -" About to reply, Xare was cut short by the first view of the fountain ahead. Unconsciously, she increased her hold on the glamor that allowed both her and Zade to appear as human before she continued, "It appears that we have arrived. Remember to behave a little, Zaden." With that last, she strode confidently towards the meeting place, all insecurities well hidden.

The heat wasn't hot today which meant Shyer had no excuse to think that this was some kind of mirage brought on by heat exhaustion or something of that kind. Her eyes grew wide enough to pass off as dinner plates, manners being too deeply programmed her to let her mouth fall, but she could all her jaw turn slack regardless. Oh...these were the others. She gulped down, having never so many Ashe and their guardians in one place before. In retrospective four - no wait five, she's missed one, wasn't really allot, but she'd assumed that it was almost an impossibility to meet them altogether unless it was some kind of organised gathering. Of course, the letter. Her fingers jumped to her pocket, tearing off a corner in her haste to read it. This mustn't be the only copy then.

Aealia smiled to herself, she'd organised only the faintest of glamour to dim her skin tone to a pasty paleness and hid her wings, though it was faint and looked glitchy because every second or two you'd get the faint impression that large appendages were behind her. Still, it was enough for Shyer to be happy with. Around her she felt more than knew the Ashe were there, of course from this distance she could see a few shorter peoples approaching, most of them having their own odd characteristics that pinpointed them. A slight pang of irritation flared within her chest for a moment, noticing that none of those present were dealing with the problems which large wings caused those whom had to run around in the mortal world still.

Shyer still seemed quite in shock to be surrounded by so many, she dearly hoped marzipan would be coming soon. Wait did that mean all these people also knew of marzipan and even some might have an inkling of why there were all here. Unsure of what to do next Shyer worked against all the timid traits of her personality and raised her voice above the level of the splashing water, eyeing Aelia anxiously, though the look was ignored given that the Ashe was far too entertained by the approaching strangers.
‘Does she even know about stranger danger yet?’ Shyer wondered, making a mental note to say something about it yet. She held up her piece of paper at ear level before speaking up.
So…am I wrong to think that I’m the only person with one of these pieces of parchment?”
Her face turned bright red at being the first to say something among such a ’large’ crowd.

"I have one, too," Mireille offered, holding up her own parchment carefully. Before she could continue, however, Julien had stepped forward, a cheerful smile on his face that encompassed not only the Ashe, but also their guardians.

"Hello," he said, and though his voice wasn't particularly loud, he was clearly doing his best to make it heard properly. "I'm Julien. It's nice to meet all of you." Rather than move to each of them in turn, he waved brightly. Side by side, anyone could easily see that Mireille was feeling shy, while Julien didn't really seem to know the meaning of the word.

"Er... yes, it's nice to meet you all," Mireille said belatedly, wondering at the way Julien just waded right into things without hesitation. "I'm Mireille."

“I think that we all have one obviously.” Felicity said a bit coolly. Toulouse gave her thigh a vicious pinch, making Felicity squeak in realization about how rude she had just been. “I-I mean, I’m Felicity. It’s nice to meet you all.” She amended, trying to vainly to hide how nervous everyone was making her. She consoled herself with the fact the some of the others seemed nervous too.

And I am Toulouse.” Toulouse replied flicking some stray golden hairs that had become caught in the collar of his jacket. “May I assume that none of you know what this meeting is about? This certainly is such a wayward meeting place. ” Toulouse looked about the crowd with a pompous twinkling in his eye. Felicity prayed to God that Toulouse’s dry humor would not offend anyone. She was frankly shocked that he would talk to boldly.

“Oh, Toulouse stop it. What can I say?” Felicity smiled shyly at the girl who had introduced herself as Mireille.

No harm meant.” Toulouse replied genially with a full smile. “Merely a lark.”

Cindy glanced around at the sudden outburst of people saying they'd gotten the same letter as her. Holding up the yellow, old looking pieces of paper, announcing their names. All of them had... What were they called... An Ash?

Oh, even Mireille was here! That must've been what this was about. "I... Have one.." She spoke out hesitantly and held up her piece of paper. Onlookers were either confused or didn't bother to pay attention, figuring there was some kind of meeting going on.

Aesop watched her lift the paper in the air, his eyes carefully looking over the group. These children were just like him. He rubbed his chin at the utter variety of them all. Interesting. His eyes seemed fixed on the other boy with white hair. This.. Julien. How cheerful he was. But... His glance slid over to the blonde-haired boy. How... Intriguing.

"I'm Cindy.. And..." She looked down at the boy in her lap and realized he was a bit distracted. "This is Aesop."

Aesop perked at hearing his name. "Oh yes. Nice to meet you all." His thoughts then turned back to what they'd previously been.

"So... Can anyone answer my questions here? Because, you know. It's not every day that an egg drops out of the air and hatches a child. My biology class certainly didn't prepare me for this kind of parenthood."

If she hadn't looked crazy before, she sure as hell did now. Screaming about eggs and children... She must've been taking some kind of drug! PCP maybe? Or perhaps Heroin? Hell, maybe even Meth! People didn't expect teens to have any senses in this society.

Xare raised an elegant eyebrow at the others' words. She'd met Shyer before, and Aelia. So seeing them here made the situation not quite as bad. Concentrating a bit, Xare also called up the piece of paper that had contained similar instructions to meet at the fountain. She used a slight increase in glamor to hide her actions as she brought it out, making it seem as if she had merely taken the piece of paper out of her pocket instead of conjuring it out from thin air. "It appears that we all have had similar letters delivered to us."

Pausing, she looked around, noting with a mild sort of amusement that Zaden was already scrambling up onto the fountain. She hoped that he did not get too wet. From experience, she knew that telling the boy to refrain from doing something would only goad him to go further. So now, she generally kept quiet and let him learn through his own mistakes.

When the round of introductions came to her, Xare tilted her head. She kept up the glamor on both herself and her charge, however - just in case. "Hello, I am known as Xare. My ashe, Zaden, is the one that is over there attempting to get out of the fountain." Xare flashed a quick smile as she indicated the now dripping wet boy with apparently black hair. "He always has to learn the hard way. It is nice to meet you all, too."

Oh. Shyer lowered her hand. Yup she was definitely in the right spot and apparently this was the right group to be around. There was actually a fair few now, all of them with a child amongst there midst and one of the more vivacious ones even stepped into the fountain to emerge dripping wet.
Another one stood beside a woman, his soft hair reminding Shyer of sheep's wool and she wondered if it had the same texture, the urge to touch it resisted she let her eyes stray all over the place, stopping only briefly to recall the lady named Xare who apparently was guardian to the fountain boy. Wait did that mean that the egg she'd seen...

As if reading her thoughts Aelia turned to the one pronouncing himself to be Xare and addressed him thusly.
" I'm Aelia, but We've met before."
She gave a half smile at him, knowing full well it was unlikely for him to remember anything that would have happened outside the egg.

Shyer looked concerned at Aelia's change of attitude. Usually Aelia was a more...solitude person but here and amongst these 'other's she was more curious than shy. Breaking te ice Shyer gestured to herself then Aelia in a half wave.
"I'm Shyer, this is Aelia..." She paused, Unsure where to go now. Everyone was now aware they'd all been sent here by the same person and also that these...kids wee the only connection between them all. Felicity seems just as nervous as Shyer, though the young golden haired child seemed more relaxed. This forced her mind to wander down the road of how 'mortal' these people were. It wouldn't be the first time she'd met non-humans, he eyes rebounded off of Xare as she thought this.

Finding something comforting at the joking tone of the one named Cindy Shyer felt a little more at ease. Apparently these people were just as oblivious as she was.
"Well..."
She finally addressed them, biting her lower lip. "
I guess we should wait for marzipan, you guys know her right?"

Unlike her guardian Aelia was more comfortable simple talking to the Ashe as if non of the grownup were here, even going so far as to internally remark that she was the only female around. That was...a little disappointing she had to admit, but it was only childish reassurances that had kept her wishing for a female friend, really any of them were nice to be around. Making up her own 'ice breaker' she addressed the Ashe alone.
"Do any of you know how to hold a decent glamour?"
PostPosted: Sun Jun 08, 2008 8:57 pm

"I've never met Marzipan," Mireille countered immediately, shaking her head. She started to add something else, but the little girl's comment caught her attention, and she looked down at Aelia. "Glamour? You mean... like magic?" Magic... like the egg that had arrived, and turned her world upside down.

Julien shook his head, looking over at Aelia apologetically. "I'm still getting used to this place," he offered, and even as he spoke, he was tugging at his sweater to get it off. Mireille, looking around at the others, had no idea that Julien had pulled his sweater off as he carried it over to Zaden, holding it out to the other boy. "Here," he offered. "You shouldn't stay wet like that. You could get sick."

I know Marzipan…vaguely from somewhere.” Toulouse said slowly in answer to Shyer’s question. “A sweet little thing with vibrant pink hair if I remember correctly. She must not be that important since I can’t remember much of her.”

“You can’t remember anything Toulouse.” Felicity put in. “Besides, Marzipan must be important. How would she have gotten us these letters if she wasn’t?” Felicity watched as her harsh comments made of bit of Toulouse’s smug mask fall away to reveal someone who was uncertain and alone. “Oh, Toulouse I’m so-”

Don’t mention it.” Toulouse interrupted in swatting his hand about his face as if to dispel an arrant fly. “You’re right of course, but let’s not talk about such things in present company. Now as for glamour, I have quite an aptitude for it Miss Aelia. I shan‘t however make any kind of exhibition of myself if that is what your are hinting at. You seem to have quite a knack for it yourself.” Toulouse’s disposition was back with a vengeance as he ignored Felicity's comments. It was if he had never let is arrogant façade waver only moment ago. It was if he was trying to act in a conceited way.

Felicity sighed watching the little boy, Julien? Offer his sweater to the kid that had fallen into the fountain. Why couldn’t she have someone normal like Julien or even Aelia? They all seemed childlike and innocent while Toulouse seemed to grown-up for his age. Something was amiss with him and Felicity was determined to find out later.

“I wonder when Marzipan will arrived.” Felicity said conversationally trying to gloss over the fact the Toulouse was being a...well, brat.

Glamour? What the hell was glamour? Why did it matter? Why was everyone just ignoring her?

Cindy's face scrunched up as everyone went about their business. Usually, she hated being the center of any attention, but she would really like some questions answered here. Surely one of these people knew. She gently lifted Aesop off of her lap and stood him up on the ground. She gave a quick glance to the boy in the waterfall behind her then to his caretaker.

Getting on her own two feet, she made her way over to Mir. "Hey, I dunno about you, but I think there are things these people aren't telling us." She said under her breath to the only person she knew there besides Aesop.

Aesop was about to follow Cindy, but seemed to become distracted. By what? A small coin that sat on the ground. He crouched down over it and stared before even touching the shiny object. As he lifted it from the ground, he examined the imprints and the letters ever so carefully. "Hm." Is all he bothered to say as he smiled and put it in his pocket. His eyes then continued to view the ground around him. Everything was so... Different.

He paid no attention to the comments of glamour or any of the questions floating on the air. He had examined all the children here and made his own assumptions about them. If any wanted to talk to him, then they would. Otherwise, he had his own things to do.... Even though he wasn't sure of what those were yet.
