Hm, I think I already commented on this somewheres... ninja
I think it'll be interesting to say the least. I don't think I've even seen del Toro's work, so I have no ready opinion of him as a director.
Of course, all us Tolkien fanatics would LOVE to have Peter Jackson direct, but we're taking what we can get here. xp

Peter Jackson would be the best choice, but a live action Hobbit would be awesome.

Who should play Bilbo?
I heard James MacAvoy is rumored to have the part. He'd be a sweet choice. Also, Charlie Cox from Stardust would be good too.
Thoughts?
PS. Kayura, I totally agree. Although I don't like how certain parts of the Hobbit are *always* cut out, what could cover TWO installments??

Hugo Weaving, Ian McKellan and Andy Serkis are all confirmed for both films. They're going to cover a lot of what's in the "extra" books, like the History of Middle-earth. I really hope it isn't overkill, though. I do enjoy Middle-earth, but two films.. Risky.
And I still vote for James MacAvoy for Bilbo. He carried the Children of Dune miniseries and Wanted. He could sell it.
