Silo Dome

The Silo Dome, the northernmost of the four domes. The solemn gray cement walls of the warehouse rise far above surrounding farmlands and forests. Just outside the whitewashed industrial rolling doors are forklifts, 18-wheelers. Inside the mammoth building are rough wooden crates stacked to the ceiling. Dim lights illuminate generous pathways within the imposing wooden maze. Occasionally a scaly yellow chicken foot, a string of pristine grapes, or frond of an exotic looking vegetable can be seen poking out between the slats of the wooden crates. There must be enough food here to feed thousands upon thousands.

And after a small trek, the Kitten Hats troupe had come across the northernmost dome, which just so happened to be the core agricultural area of the vacant city. It took Spooky only a minute of formulating to decide that this was the perfect area for them to rest. Empty, HUEG, covered in the protective UNITY field, and it even had 18-wheelers. Yep, this place was perfect.

"Dips on the red one with flames."

And those were the first words out of his mouth upon their arrival. Spooky bum rushed the one he wanted and climbed up the steps. Taking his pack off and throwing into the cab, before sliding in behind the wheel. He took the time to reload the M4 and sigh softly as he lit yet another cigarette from his quickly dwindling pack. Spooky grabbed onto the keys in the ignition and turned them, the massive diesel engine roared to life and he celebrated with a loud hoot and holler.

"Hell yeah!

He palmed the radio on the dash and clicked it.

"Breaker, breaker, this is One Big Monkey a**, can you read me?"

Shouyin had gone about taking point after Spooky had made the call to move out. It wasn't like he figured the guy as team leader - which was probably an issue Kitten Hats had done a poor job in fixing (because no combat team was really effective without an acknowledged sense of command for direction) - it was just that it was an obvious decision, and he'd made the most logical heading. The scene had quieted down, and as this was an extended operation they'd need some prep time during, so what better place to take refuge than inside one of the Unity Fields?

He tucked the axe away and slid the huge warehouse doors open with a grunt, smirking as he took a look inside. Spooky rushed past him on the right, but Shou wasn't particularly concerned - there was plenty of fun stuff inside this place for the entire squad. There'd be time for searching later though; despite his performance, Shou was still a bit drunk from much earlier on in the night, and he needed to chill. Using the axe, he pried open a couple crates and went about scrapping together a simple meal that he quickly scoffed down. Following that, he'd pop open the door to his own truck and toss his gear inside. Thankfully it was a sleeper cab with plenty of room, so the half-golem pulled off his tattered jacket and t-shirt, took off his boots and socks, made his bed in the back of the cab, and went on the radio.

"I read you. Good show tonight, I'm goin' horizontal; over and out."

Shouyin fell onto the old truck mattress with a sign and almost immediately fell asleep.

Colin followed the group, pondering a very large gap in their plan.

How many people actually saw the giant mech thing? Each one was a liability and needed to be handled like that Cloud guy and the reporting crew. As he passed through the doors into the Sam's Club of warehouses, realizing just about that time that he was starving. Walking over to the nearest crate, Colin would pull out his knife and pry it open.

Tomatoes.

Eh. Colin would grab one and bite into it. Juicy. Moving on, he'd pry open the next crate to find corn. Not a fan, he'd continue down the line, finding grapes, potatoes, carrots, celery, plums, papaya?, and many other foods that he'd sample, though he'd skip the celery.

Hated the s**t. It was gross even when it had peanut butter on it.

Turning to head back out of the dark warehouse, Colin would spot something out of the corner of his eye. Turning his head, he almost though he was seeing things. Blinking a few times, he'd smirk when it had been confirmed.

A barrel of ale.

Walking over to the drum of alcoholic beauty, he'd look around the warehouse for any sign of a cup or beer stein or something.

No luck.

As he'd try to kneel underneath the spigot, some God somewhere just happened to place the crate to the right of the ale in such a way so that when he lowered his head, one word would come into view.

Coconuts.

Hell yeah. Popping open that crate, Colin would crack open one of those round coconuts and, pouring the milk onto the floor, would fill both halves up with that amber liquid. Once satisfied, he'd turn and leave, ready to sit and talk game plan with the rest of the group, or at least learn their names.

Entering the bright light outside of the warehouse, Colin would squint his eyes. Even through goggles, that sun was hella bright.

crunch

Looking down, he'd lift up his foot.

Bloody hell...

His headset. Currently with a now useless microphone, the thing had flown off of his head during his fight scene with his damned parachutes. Quickly gulping down a coconut half of ale, he'd toss the improvised cup away and crouch to pick up his headset.

-rial Station......-uare then head no-......-nded-....-e paupe-.....-round a**.

Station was broken. On a different wavelength, it would never work in tandem with the rest of the team again. On the bright side, if he could get the receiver working once more, whoever's channel it was on they could follow. Maybe they'd been in the group that had seen the spider-robot.

And that would just make their job easier.

Shouyin woke up with a start to the sound and rumble of yet -another- explosion off in the distance. Through the truck windshield off in the distance he could see greedy flames licking the sky. No real evidence of a wreckage - he wasn't close enough to spot any of that - but there was no doubt that all that noise was coming from the fields. Sighing, the half-golem pulled himself out of bed and checked the time on the truck's radio.

It was five o'clock.

"Damn it," a ******** hour's sleep, that's all y'get. And it was cold too, a lot colder than it'd been before, and it didn't seem to be getting any warmer. I thought this s**t was ******** climate controlled! Somebody had done something to the stuff that was supposed to be keeping Shouyin comfortable during this engagement - that wasn't koul. He swiftly dug into his backpack, withdrawing a new t-shirt and BDU jacket to replace the torn remnants of the old ones, along with his hooded winter coat. Repacking everything and checking that his axe was in good condition, he hopped out of the truck and approached the group.

"They did something to that Sunstone. ******** if I know where that news crew is, but there were enough witnesses to that robot as is. Figure we should check the 'stone out and clean up whoever we find on the way, eh?" he smirked, and gestured to the trucks.

"S'not like we've gotta walk anymore."

Colin would nod in agreement with Rock Arm, thought only half listening. Shrugging his pack off again, he'd pull out his jacket which was sufficiently drier than before, a belt, and the broken radio he'd picked up earlier in the day. Popping off the chassis of the radio, Colin would look at its guts. So many wires, he just needed to find out which did what.

If he could rig it up, they could listen in on open channels, maybe get the jump on some stragglers.

Looking up from his personal project, Colin would nod at the golem.

Parents called me Colin.

An open invitation for an introduction, though not one he expected to be reciprocated. He'd glance back down at the innards of the radio, reaching around the front to turn it on, soft static flooding from the speaker. Another sip from the coconut would slide down his gullet.

Coming from the southwest, Shin would begin in a field full of crops that would eventually give way to a large cement warehouse. He stopped at the edge of the fields produce, using the stalks as cover as he checked out the area. The warehouse had two large doors that probably held the harvest from these fields, as he had seen no other facility besides this one that could hold the fast amount of food these fields would yield. Outside the two large doors stood a few trucks and forklips, things that he though would be pretty damn useful. However not all of these vehicles were avaliable a couple had their engines running and drivers in their front seats.

Not wanting to draw attention to himself, Shin slowly retreated farther back into the crops. He didn't want to make himself visible, who knew who these people were or how they would react to him. But one thing was sure, he needed one of those rigs and he wasn't going to ask for it. He would make his way slowly though the crops, circling around the inhabited 18 wheelers.

((Is the group inside or outside the warehouse?))

Ach-PTEW!

"What the rath is with this rathin' grod?!"

Ebris Dhifi was known for being a connoisseur of all sorts of alcoholic beverages. Of course, this was mainly limited to him liking drinks that were pure alcohol with some added flavoring - anything less was just piss water or something he needed to chug in droves to get drunk in desperation. However, that didn't mean that the bounty hunter didn't like some rathin' good eats. Just look at the guy - how the hell does someone get that big without chowing down on all sorts of foods?

So, like any sensible person who had been working for some time without any sort of break, Ebris wanted a bite to eat that didn't involve rations that had less flavor than a styrofoam brick. He had broken into one of the crates, brushed off one of the odd-looking veggies inside, and took a bite.

And that was the start of a very long-winded, useless and inane rant by the bounty scum.

"What the rath is this grod!? It tastes like a** lick in a rathin' condensed, eatable form! PISS!"

With one big lurch, the bounty hunter spun around and hucked the vegetable at one of the sides of the big rigs, right next to his favorite bounty b***h. The veggie pretty much disintegrated upon impact, showering the woman in its glorious pulp wave. Ebris stomped and fumed some more, kicking an unopened box and sending its contents and wood chips flying.

"PISS!"

Issues, much?

Anyway, after somehow hearing what Shouyin was saying, Ebris began to calm down a little, realizing that the rathin' meta was right.

"Got a damned point. Felt like things were gettin' a bit nippy. Ain't that thing in that big a** palace dome down yonder?"

Good thing Ebris' gear was normally good at shielding him against the weather, as things were just going to get progressively worse.

Ya know, she could have been perfectly content just relaxing back against the side of one of the rigs, lazily for a change since this whole gig started until the damned bounty brute went and tossed some nasty vegetable remains in her direction.

And raining pulp...

For ******** sake.

Whipping around, a particularly annoyed expression on her face, Ryke cast her partner that usual look. "What the ******** you throwing s**t at me for?"

Mmrf. Damnitt, she was comfortable...somewhat. Though, now that she had been stirred from her resting place, the air around her displacing and flowing freely she could easily feel the drop in temperature that had taken place over time. So that wasn't supposed to happen, clearly, and the female hunter drew her jacket closer before climbing to her feet.

"Yea, supposed to be. So whats that mean?"

"Shouyin," the man nodded at Colin then looked back to the rest of the group.

"That means somebody ******** with it, 'cause like Ebris said, s'a tad bit colder than it was an hour ago," he folded his arms over his chest and exhaled slowly.

"And like I said, Cat's Cradle's cover's been comprised now that people have seen the SF-32, so we gotta start cleaning this place out, news crew or not. So to find people, we go where we know people have been ******** around, and the Palace is as good a place as any," he started walking towards one of the trucks neither Spooky nor himself had touched, yanking out his axe and slamming it into one of the tires while flicking the Instant action. The bell inside the axehead would ring and the tire would pop fiercely.

"Might as well make sure nobody else follows us in one o' these things either," he'd finish up with that truck, popping the tires connected to the drive shaft, and begin following suit with the other three 18 wheelers surrounding the dome, leaving two untouched for the squad's leisure.

Colin would nod. Shouyin. Interesting. The sound of Gallagher fruit caused the somewhat punk rocker to look up, the giant laughing at Ryke's misfortune.

What an odd group.

Pulling his jacket over his arms once more, he'd zip it up so that the lower half of his face was hidden. He'd then proceed to tie the belt around his waist, where he'd almost buckle it before...

POP!

BLOODY ******** would spin on his knee, pulling the MP5/10 from his pack and aim it in the direction of Shouyin who'd just gone Jason on a tire. Couldn't he have warned his first. Jesus Christ!

Almost gave me a ******** heart attack. ******** a deep breath, Colin would shake his head. He couldn't die from a heart attack in this bubble, but it sure as hell felt like he almost did. Closing the radio back up, Colin would have to fiddle with it later. Looked like the rag-tag team was about to head out.

In agreement with Shouyin, Colin would aim the gun at another truck, letting out a few bullets after switching to single-fire.

Originally there had been three people around to worry about, two of which had been talking and one in truck. It would have been easy to slip by, take one of the trucks on the far side and get away. Now the situation had just gotten worse as two more people came into view, a girl and a big guy who made Shin sweat a little bit. Not to mention that was one guy there who he recognized, the Irishman who had knifed him I the leg.

Shin was outnumbered five to one, meaning there was little chance of his getting out of a fight alive. As well as more people who could noticed him as creep along in the crops, now a distance away from the door near the farthest truck from the group.

He needed the trucks to not only get the hell out of here, but carry away all the gold him and the rest of the crew would find here. Now that he had blown up their ship, they had no way to carry away their spoils. And now they were destroying the trucks….

Yea, things were becoming serious ******** up.

It was defintely much safer to just stay out of sight and wait for them to leave, for atleast then he could walk away with his life. But he needed the trucks, he had no choice but to act now or not only become stranded but without means to get away with the loot.

He ran a little way to last truck, the last in the line and the last still usable, the hulking vehicle itself blocking him from view for the moment. His left handed Propeware quickly converted into its propeller form, the for metal strips moving out the sleeve and outwards. He opened up the right door, stepped on the foot hold and then jumping in so that his body lay across the driver seat.

His left arm cocked up to the window letting loose a power full burst, a gust of wind generated by the device on arm breaking the glass with ease and sending it and the slicing vortex of wind headed towards the one with the axe and the group in general. His right arm meanwhile, was reaching to turn the key and start the engine.

He just need to buy himself some time to get the ******** out of here…

With 5 Semi-Trucks in the current area, and 2 of them being used by Kitten Hats, the other 3 were pretty damn useless to them - hell, having them around was a bad idea. Other people could get the same good ideas they got and start roarin' up them big rigs and head on out. It'd be a damn nice thing to have a monopoly on the tractor trailer bizns in Frostchild.

Shouyin axed the first tires, the new guy Colin popped the second with some bursts from his MP5, and Ebris...time to bring out the mining pick.

If Ebris' right forearm was visible, extremely odd muscle twitches and spasms could be seen under the skin. Digits went crazy and then tightened into an impossibly hard fist. A hissing noise occurred, and without warning, Ebris' fist parted with his hand. It bent back on a hidden hinge, revealing servos, synthmuscle, wires and an odd block-shaped object in the middle of the stump - it was a fake arm.

Another hiss filled the air as he further made his way to the truck, whistling a completely tuneless song. The block in the center of the stump began to extend out, which Ebris then grabbed after a good portion of it. Another odd muscle twitch and the bolts holding the thing in place disengaged, allowing the bounty hunter to slide it out. As the clenched, fake hand slid back down onto the stump, Ebris grinned at the weapon - with the press of a stud on its shaft, the mining pick's blades snapped up.

Time for some slashing.

Or there would have been, if he hadn't heard some commotion up nearby, as well as howling winds (I mean, who the hell tries to use howling winds when they're trying to be sneaky?) and breaking glass, made Ebris break into a sudden, fierce burst of speed.

"Got a rathin' contact! Tryin' to steal one of the trucks!" The bounty hunter's barks went over the headset to warn the others.

Seems them rathers were already trying to get in on their good thing.

Unfortunately for the thief, Ebris had already been going over to the last truck. If he hadn't been, he might have gotten away with it, but that was not the case. With Ebris' pretty incredible burst speed (for straight aways, anyway), he was on the big rig right as the guy was fishing for the keys to start the thing.

The cab shook violently as Ebris slammed into the side, denting the door brutally and not harming the bounty hunter in the slightest due to the Unity Field (not that he would have been damaged much at all in the first place). Ebris grabbed the door's handle and yanked the thing open brutally. He glared at the Jimbo trying to steal their trucks and began to climb in, giving him a look that would prolly cause the guy to fill his pants with grod.

Ryke had taken to leaning against the truck again, not bothering with the fruits her cohorts had drudged up from the numerous crates around the silo and despite the chill in the air, all was good for now. Pretty damn casual.

Ebris
"Got a rathin' contact! Tryin' to steal one of the trucks!"

Till Ebris' heavy voice crackled through the reciever of her headset.

Yeap. Time to move. She didn't need any direction from her bounty hunter counterpart to know what the smartest move she could do was. It was blatantly obvious. So Ryke straightened her posture slightly and reacted with a quickness she'd built up over time and pulled the door of the truck she'd been resting against, open and slid across the seat into the driver's place.

Who cares if she hadn't a lot if any experience at all driving one of these things, it was still a vehicle and still worked almost the same way as the rest of them. With a turn of the key the engine whirred to life, and the female hunter forced the thing into drive haphazardly with one foot on the appropriate pedal. The truck gave a mild shudder but it sprung into action with applied pressure on the accelerator.

If the contact didn't make his move, all she would do is swing the truck around and serve as a blockade in his way.

If he did, so help him.

It was gonna be a game of bumper cars.
