I am doing babysit for a one years old baby, and i want to teach her to talk. All she say now is: bay- when you leave, מים-mim- that is water in hebrew, and that is all. I try to teach her to say other stuff, any idea?

I think you should just talk to her like you do everyone else, all my brothers an my nieces talked really well at 1..in my experience when you talk baby talk to a child they won't really have a grasp of the language.

My niece and first nephew seemed to do all right ... this one understands me he just dosen't talk ... when I call him he looks at me ... when I get mad at him *saying 'no'* *without yelling* he starts to pout ... when I say goodbye he waves at me ... when I say 'kiss me' he does ... when I say 'bathtime' he gets all excited ... I refused to speack baby talk with any child cuz like you said that promotes baby talk ... I just have a hard time getting him to talk to me ... with words

today i understood why it is so hard to teach this child to talk. She eat all the time, and when she isn't eating, she is walking, or doing something dangerous. So i think i will stick to teach her to move according to a song. This way she could eat and i can show her mother she learned something new.

I agree, but what ever u do dont use baby talk, it will just get confusing just talk to them like u would to a normal person, and ur langue cant be that complicated

Yeh i do the thing when you show the body part, the thing is the babysit is just 3.5-4 hours, and i have to feed her most of the time (mom orders) so the child doesn't have room in her mouth to speak. so i am going to teach her to just understand and not to speak.

oooohhh... well...sometimes when my sister(older) talks to the phone she'd(younger, 1 yr. old) always stare at her(older)...and my sister (older) would do it again and again...and so my younger sister already knew how to get the phone, put it near her ears and say, "Halo?"...
