And what's "yoai" anyway?
Is it anything like yaoi?

I suppose.
Though it always amuses me how people can be fans of something they can't even spell. And here's a bit of background on what the word really means, and why miss-spelling it is silly.
Yaoi is derived from an acronym of the Japanese phrase "yama nashi, ochi nashi, imi nashi," often translated into English as, "no climax, no resolution, no meaning," or as the catchphrase, "No peak, no point, no problem."
Yoai, on the other hand, it's not even a word, has no meaning, and is the result of a lot of fanits miss-spelling the term for whatever reason they do it. Be it because they think it's cool, for being uninformed, or because they see all the rest of the lamb squad spelling it that way, so "it mus b the rite spellin!"

Yay, for spelling accuracy!!
(there are dictionaries out there too) (and to those too lazy to find one - there are online versions)
I'm always checking online dictionaries. (better to spend time checking then look stupid)
Unless you just want to confuse people (but that's what leet is for) un1355 j00 w4n7 74 c0nfu53 p30p13 - 1337
Yay, yuri !!
