So, i'm pretty sure that this was brought up before, but just to mention it again, is there really any mention of last names in Avatar? Other than June Pipenpaddleopsicopolis or Wang Fire, I'm not sure...

No others. They have just never had a reason to use any last names. With Toph, they had the whole thing about the Bei Fong family, so they used a last name to group them together. They all probably have last names though, one's we don't know of, except maybe for Aang, with his monk-eeness and whatnot.

Toph seems to be the only one with a last name, and once Toph ran away from home to go with the others, they haven't really used her last name at all.
Maybe it's one of the creator's arguments about, like, who your family is not mattering and not having to be part of your identity. ('cuz look at Zuko. He was outcasted from his family, etc, etc and ended up becoming his own person instead of just "prince of the fire nation" or "the son of the fire lord"

It seems to fit.

didn't they mention what Soka and Katara's Father's last name was? I forget what they said but I think they mentioned it in the Boiling Rock episode...

I'm sure someone would ahve caught it if it was mentioned.
But, I just thought of something else. What about Aang's family? We know he was "raised" by monks, but he must have been born from somebody, where are all the women in the temple?

I think they were just living as monks, as were the other monks. xP
... Of course, they're dead now, if that's what you were wondering.

animy47 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v368/darkwater657/animations/air.gif what about that air bender? That would be Yangchen, the Air Nomad Avatar four Avatars in the cycle before Aang. Not his mother, his previous incarnation.
