3. Post your challenge only in the Challenge thread. The Wizards Den.

6. Rewards are left at the discretion of your Team Captain.
7. You must post in your current battles at least once a week (Minimum). Of course we hope you will post much more! Everyone is also allowed to participate in as many duels as they want at one time. Do not start a new battle with the same person until the first duel is finished.
8. Respect other players at all times.
9. Absolutely no overpowered spells or potions. Example -Any spell with a created effect of doing double damage or more damage then allowed by dice rolls. Status ailments are basically anything that alters the state mentally or physically of your character. We ask that you role play how you got turned into it and then how it broke, then continue your turn.

12. Do not post in other duelists threads! Please keep non-role play and non-dueling conversation in your common room or the great hall.
13. There is no rule 13. Bad luck.
14. Read your house captain's post in the Room of Requirement.
15. Dueling Spells must be colored with your house color. That makes it easier to read. Example -
I cast the spell of Confundus at you. Confundus needs to be the color green for Slytherin. It would look like this: Drake casts "Confundus" at you! Check the example tutorial duel for a more detailed description.

16. Damage (Losing hit points) is determined by the loss of a dice roll, and happens only if you are attacking and you roll a higher number then the defender. The defender loses hit points of the subtracted roll.
Example: I Attack with a 19 and you defend with a 17, 19 - 17 = 2, You take 2 damage. Defending with a higher number will render that attack deflected/countered. Now I am on the defense, I roll again, and if I lose, I will lose DP. Please see the example tutorial duel for a more detailed description.
17. REMEMBER TO ROLL! I can't stress that enough, You can't edit a post if you forget to roll, you will have to delete the entire post and redo it. So roll the first time!
18. Do not delete your post and redo it to get a higher dice roll. This subforum will be monitored heavily. Deleting your roll for a higher one will be an instant ban from the Dueling Club. You will be sent to Detention, forfeit your duel and face more dire consequences. Posts are kept for 48 hours after deletion. We will be checking every day for redone posts.
19. Please use this format when Dueling:

20. Tied dice rolls result in a block/counter for the defending player.
21. A player may "give up" or "surrender," thus ending the duel and causing a loss for himself and a win for the other person. This is only allowed if real life issues prevent you from logging in to duel or keeping up with the posts. If you surrender too much you will be put under probation in the Detention Room. While under probation, if it happens again, you will be suspended from the team for two weeks. Please check the Detention thread for information on who is on probation or suspended and thus cannot duel.
22. A player may offer a truce to any opponent who has 5 Dueling Points or lower. This person can either accept the truce by surrendering and giving the other person the win and taking a loss, or they can deny the truce and they continue dueling until someone has reached zero dueling points and fainted.
23. House points will be given out whenever you win 10 duels. There is a special prize when you reach your first 10 wins. Please notify your House captain AND Accio Funds when you do!
24. Whoever issued the challenge must create the first post. Example: you challenge someone and they accept. You create a new thread in the subforum of The Dueling Club entitled "User name vs User name". If you wish to practice dueling, please title your post "Practice Match: User name vs User name" and it will not count towards wins or losses.
25. In any duel, the first post for both participants will be a roll to determine who goes first and a short scenario setting up the role play elements.

26. If you wish to participate in duels please just sign up in the The Registry thread with your User name and your house. Check that thread to see who is participating/can be challenged. To start, challenges can only be issued and duels fought between members of different Houses.
27. Decisions made by team captains and the Heads of House are final.
*NEW RULES*
So we may be clear on these subjects.
28. You may not attack twice in a row. There will be no spells that allow you to cause a player to lose a turn. There must be an attack and a defense roll.
30. There will be no spells with lasting effects. The effect of a spell will be role played in the opponents defense post and that will be the end of the status aliment.
