So... I'm just wondering which is the way you all prefer your anime? Do you like it dubbed or do you want to hear the original voices and read texts? Or perhaps it depends on the anime?
I usually like to watch the animes with japanese voices since I love the language and I have found the original voices of my favorite animes to be much better than the dubs. (I'm not saying here that all dubs are bad!) Also sometimes when both the dubs and subs are bad, it's very hard to decide, but I usually end up reading the bad subtexts.. confused
Discuss about the matter, but please, be friendly. ^^

subbed all the way. the original voices are wayy much better than the fave ones, tit sounds much more natural, and they dont take out the original text either, if you want it dubbed, ur gonna get some english screw up taking out bad language, like.. swear words hehehe xD

well I considered watching dubbed versions... until I realised how much of the text they had changed... at least when it's subbed, you still get the swear words and puns... in English that's ruined.

Gaara: I know! The swear words are usually gone, noooo! xd Or then they've been replaced by some swear words that sound... well... stupid. sweatdrop
18luck: I hate it how different the dubs are when compared to the original voices. It's somehow understandable because of the fact that the voices should fit with the mouth movements of the characters but still.. stressed
And this is what bothers me probably the most: Why on earth they make dubs at all if they don't care to pronounce the Japanese names right?! scream That doesn't happen in all dubbed animes but... Urgh.
Or am I the only one who wants the names to be pronounced as they should be in the original language? o.O

Or am I the only one who wants the names to be pronounced as they should be in the original language? o.OThat's one of the main reasons I hate dubs. Take Naruto for example.... In Japanese, the name Sasuke is pronounced as "sas-ke" ...... in the dubbed version he sounds like a sissy, cause they pronounce his name as "sass-you-kayyyy" ........GOD >_<

Same thing with Inuyasha. Again, I'm not a fan and haven't seen all episodes, but I've watched one episode dubbed and almost died! gonk Miroku's name is most definitely NOT pronounced "my- row-q" or something like that!
I'm Finnish myself and we pronounce words almost the same way Japanese do so to me it seems very strange how some people make so much mistakes with Japanese words when it comes to pronouncing. However, I understand it if it's some ordinary people who don't know Japanese pronouncing. But those who make the dubs should know their job better! scream
Uh, it seems like this became a bit of a rant. Sorry, all. sweatdrop

Uh, it seems like this became a bit of a rant. Sorry, all. sweatdrop Well I'm from Malta... but having an Arabic/Italian/French/Maltese/English mixture in the language, it's a lot easier to pronounce the words like the Japanese do. (Yes Maltese originated from a whole bunch of other languages) But the people who were dubbing were American... so their pronunciation was a little off. Seems the European accent is better when it comes to Asian pronunciation. Weird ha?

I prefer to have mine subbed, unless it's a decent dub.

Absolutely subbed, not dubbed. I love to hear them speaking Japanese, not other languages... D: I can't stand dubbed movies.
