I have proof that my BD ignores the F. Horn section!
My dignity is dying of poison as I say this, but... Today, I forgot my music at home, (hey, I went to a F. Horn workshop on Saturday and forgot to put my music back in my bag) and my chairmate wasn't at school, so I sort of had to just sit out. At the start of class, I told my BD, "Hey, I'm really sorry, but I forgot my music today." And he's just like, "Well, that's too bad." And didn't even look at me, like the "yes, honey" kind of response. So, we went through our scales (of which I only know 4/8 from memory) and I totally claamed the thing, and then we did sight-reading. Of course, our flutes didn't count and our clarinets didn't check the key signature, so that got him pissed and whatnot, because we were playing BEGINNING BAND music, and we're the Advanced band. ("Jesus Christ!", right?)
Then we played Jurassic Park from one of our spring concert pieces. My BD goes to cue me for the melody, and then he stops and is like, "Oh. You don't have your music?" I was wearing the obvious expression of, "Well, DUH, I DID tell you at the beginning of class!" Showing that my BD completely forgot what I told him and doesn't pay attention to my section. "=3=
Do you ever have stuff like that happen? Tell, tell. ^.^

the oboe section is forgotten, when ever we are tuning or praticing a part she usually forgets me, she always remebers the basoon though(we have only had him for less than a week). i always try to get her attention, i usually dont but if i do she says that i dont have the same part, so i end up arguing and try to show her that i do have the same part until she finally checks it and says "Oh, you do have the same part". and in one song the very begining is just me, flutes, and bells, but she always thinks its just flutes and bells, no matter how many times i tell her she sometimes forgets the F. horns too, but not very often just sometimes during tuning

My BD's forget the trombone section unless we mess up.
It's all like, we'll have a really difficult part and she'll say we'll get a section for it but we never do she just gets pissed because we play it wrong
OH!
like today I asked if I could take the high G down to the F below because I cant play that high yet [ especially on 16th notes ] she said yes
but then when we got to the part I played the F and she was all "That was a G first trombone" .......So I asked her what position it was.
and she called the highschool BD to ask him she talked for like 5 minutes and then started running the piece again without telling me

at my first school, my teacher usually neglected the trombones and baritones, but that was because they had mad skills!
at the school i'm at right now, the band director usually ignores the alto saxes, which isn't fair becuase they all suck this year. i was waiting for morning rehearsal to end and was sitting by my friend who plays the trombone and sits behind the saxes and realized that the altos were just making up the notes at the end of the peice! so i started saying stuff like, "you've got a rest there" or "piano is nice and soft, kid" and the kids didn't get pissed, they got scared, so i kinda helped them. the bd got upset that i was there because i'm his new enemy since i quit his sorry a** band and play independendly. rolleyes
anyways, i hate when bd's ignore sections.

Trombones, percussion, flutes and french horn. We never have to play anything by ourselves. Its always "Oh trumpets, play that a million times real quick" or "hey saxes you suck" and then as a side note he just says "Percussion, low brass, french horns, flutes, doing good..."

My first bd (6-7th grade)- Clarinets were ignored but only because he knew we could play our part correctly and perfectly each and every time. 2nd bd (8th)- Clarinets and trombones- we were the softest so he didn't hear us. 3rd, 4th (Current)- 2nd and 3rd Clarinets because we don't really play that loud even tho we play almost perfectly. 5th (Also current)- pays attention to everyone but mostly Clarinets since he plays it and can help us. So yeah.... clarinets have been ignored the most in my experience. All the guys (except one) just doesn't acknowledge us unless we have the main part, we mess up really badly, or when we have a concert coming up.

Our Band director almost ignores completely the saxes (the main band director actually dislikes saxes so the rest of the band directors ingnore us).My friend and I play out most of the time covering the other player's mistakes, but when we need help or think the other saxes are really ruining the part...we harmonize, improvize, or play wrong notes loud to attempt to catch his attention.

My band director ignores the French horns! Like one time, me and my friend switched horns in the middle of the piece, or another time I played with my mute in, or when me and my friend played a different piece from the rest of the band and the BD said he thought it was the best we ever played it. stare
