Magnolie hummed softly to herself as she buzzed about the trunk of a large, slender oak. Her tiny wings fluttered quickly, much too fast for the eye to catch any details. Within her paws was held a small flower, delicately carried as so she would not drop it. Landing lightly upon a springy branch, the pixie gently placed the plant down, making sure that it wouldn't slip out and fall when she took flight again.
"There there~" she crooned softly, tails curling about the branch to steady herself, just one more for mother, then~" she carefully lifted off, past a small conglomeration of other flowers on the same branch. Small eyes roved the ground in search of a fitting flower for her mother- after all, April was the month of new beginnings, rebirth, and flowers. She had to find the perfect one for all of her family before they found out where exactly she was hiding...

Genivieve huffed as she pawed about on the grass, her green and purple tails flicking aimlessly. Malzieu was no where in sight. None of the kids were around. What point was there in being awake? She might as well curl up and take a nap. Yeah. That'd show them.
She stretched out in the sunlight, enjoying the feel against her light yellow fur before she reached the cooler shade of the oak tree. Her eyelids drooped over her leaf-colored eyes as she found herself attuned to the stillness of the moment.

Magnolie landed gracefully on the ground, padding quickly over to a stand of beautiful, pale, purple flowers. She marveled at them for a moment, before gently picking out the biggest and boldest one of the bunch and cradling it carefully in her paws. Would mother like it? She sure hoped so. Fluttering her wings again, she headed off back in the direction of the oak, intent on putting the final flower with the rest of them.
She was startled, however, to spot the familiar pixie curled at the base of the tree- she couldn't quite tell if she was awake or not, either. She didn't want to ruin the surprise, but...
"Mom~" she crooned, landing alongside of her and dropping the flower atop her rump, "I got you a present~"

"Huh? Whazzat? I'LL TAKE YOU ALL ON!"
Genivieve immediatly took the defensive, her antennae arching even as the fur on her tails stood on end. The sight of a smaller, brown pixie with tell-tale heart markings and stripes made her relax, and her tone immediatly became a coo as she rose to stand next to her daughter, "Hello there, Magnolie~ How're you, sweetheart?"
A quick survey of the landscape for any potential danger revealed the purple flower where she had once laid, and she moved to nose it, her eyes narrowing as she asked, "Did you pick this for me?"

The pixie teenager startled as her mother belted out a challenge, having not exactly realized that she had practically snuck up upon her. Wings twittering nervously for a moment before she settled down, a broad smile crossed her face, antennae curling a bit. "I'm great~" she crooned in response, tails winding about her side and covering her paws as she sat down, grass tickling at the pads of her feet, "And it's such a wonderful day..."
She trailed off, eyes wandering over the greenery that surrounded them, before her mother's question stirred her from her space-out moment. "Oh, yes! I did!" she chirped, practically wriggling where she sat, "I thought it was perfect for you~ The perfect flower."

Genivieve listened to her daughter's happy description of her day without ever taking a glance towards the younger pixie. Her wings fell to a resting position even as her antennae lowered a bit, and she echoed. "The perfect flower."
She couldn't blame the little dear. No, not her precious Magnolie, filled with sweetness and joy. Her daughter would never, ever do something bad on purpose. But something had to be done to rectify the situation. The adult pixie nodded to herself. Yes, something had to be done. She was the mother; it was her responsability.
Flicking her tails, Genivieve reached down to take the flower's stem between her teeth after ordering, "I want you to show me where you got this, young lady."

Magnolie quirked a tiny eyebrow in surprise, a tad confused at her mother's reaction. "Where I got it?" she repeated, making sure that she had heard her right. Pausing to think for a moment, she turned herself and began padding through the grass. "I think it was this way, mom~"
Oblivious to the seriousness of her mother, the pixie trotted easily through the tall grass, weaving and winding through where the grass seemed to have been pushed away in some places. She didn't have to wander for long before she found the stand of odd-looking purple flowers, beaming with pride as she realized she had found the place once more. "See?" she crooned softly, gently lifting one paw after another to wriggle her way into the center of the plot, "They were all beautiful, I didn't know which one to pick for you..."

Genivieve's eyes softened as she followed her daughter through the grass, keeping the flower chosen for her clutched between her teeth. Her little ones were growing up so fast... and they still had so much to learn. When Magnolie identified the plot of flowers, she meandered around the smaller pixie, breaking through the grass to stand beside the other blossoms.
Placing her own flower on the ground beside them, Genivieve turned towards Magnolie, her green eyes as serious as the tone of her voice. "Now listen carefully, sweetheart, because I've something important to say."
Taking a breath and beginning with uncharacteristic softness, the adult pixie explained, "These flowers are beautiful, perfect, just like you'll be when you're all grown up. But, unlike us, the flowers aren't strong. You, or anyone, can come and pick them up, and SNAP!"
Stamping her paw to emphasize the point, Genivieve continued, her antennae focusing forward, "No more flower; it's dead. Just like the one you picked for me. But if you're strong, and protect the flowers... then there'll be more flowers, fields and fields of them. Then the whole family can come and see them, and there'll be plenty more when you're older."
Fixing a gaze on her daughter, the tricolored pixie asked, "Now, since you get half your genes from me, I know you can be strong and protect the flowers. Will you try and do that for Mommy?"

The startled Pixie watched in mild horror as her mother began to speak, a saddened expression coming across her face as her mother referred to the flowers as "dead". Her wings flattened to her back, listening to the older one speak. She was right, after all, wasn't she? But still, she was only so young, and not nearly as bold as her other siblings- how was she to protect the delicate things?
Then again, that was mother; all she wanted was for her children to grow up strong and to make her proud, after all. Magnolie, though, was much too sweet and loving to be as strong and forceful as her mother. She did, after all, take after her father much more.
Swallowing hard, the pixie looked from the flowers to her mother, and back again several times. Well, she could try, she guessed... rather than beating people up, she could ask them nicely to stop... right? "Okay," she replied finally, nodding, "I'll become strong, mom. Just for you; I promise~"

Genivieve puffed with pride, her purple wings flittering as she pawed her way towards her daughter to half-nuzzle her delicate antennae. "That's my girl. I know you'll do just fine."
And the boisterious pixie meant it. She was certain that her daughter, that all of her children would be just fine. If they began by being strong for her... then eventually they would learn to be strong for themselves. Then they'd be safe, even if she wasn't around to guard them, and no one would be able to walk all over them. What more could she hope for?

Magnolie puffed a little more at her mother's reassuring comment, antennae curling a bit at her touch. Her wings fluttered quickly at her back, a sign that the young pixie had indeed come right back on her feet from the traumatizing moment only minutes before. She suddenly paused, however, a strange look spreading over her face.
"Mom..." she trailed off, eyes set on the horizon, "Where's the rest of the family?" Her expression suddenly brightened at the thought, anticipating that they were all waiting for them to catch up some place, so they could all be together at once. After all, that's what families did, right?

Geniviere paused in mid-step at her daughter's question, a slight frown crossing her face. Where was their family? Her perfect Malzieu, and her other three children?
"You know what, honey? I honestly don't know. BUT I PLAN TO FIND OUT."

Magnolie nearly jumped a foot in the air at her mother's loud response. She really should get to used to that... A smile crossed her face again as the statement registered, content that her mother wanted to know as much as she did.
"Okay~" she crooned in response, fluttering over to her side, "Where do we start, then? Daddy must be around someplace, right?"

Genivieve was thinking the same thing, actually. She missed her family more than the proud Kitsusagi would ever admit aloud, but this bonding time spent with her daughter lifted her spirits.
However, the warm sunshine, adding to the feelings of love and pride swelling in her chest, made her... comfortable. Completely at ease. Sleepy...
Stretching her wings and yawning, she turned to Magnolie with droopy green eyes - a rare sign of weakness in the vitalized pixie. "I have an idea, sweetie. How about you and Mommy take a nap?"

Magnolie's face lit up like a light bulb. A nap? Her mother rarely suggested such things, and the little Pixie was not one to pass up a moment with anyone out of her family. "Great, Mom~" she crooned, little paws stepped towards a soft, tall patch of grass, which curled over the tops of other blades, making a small sort of cave. "How about right here?" She grinned broadly, turning to her mother for her word of approval. After all, Pixies couldn't sleep just anywhere, now, could they?
