OOC: This is where the post every four days rule comes in--and PLEASE post in the "information we know about you" thread.


It had turned out to be a good day and a half. They'd arrived safely, the adults had mingled and tried to get the kids comfortable with each other. They'd spent a good deal of time out being tourists. Life was wonderful in Hawaii. No wonder mentor Kimo was so laid back in comparison to the other adults. It was a fun, laid back sort of life style he led. Geez, he had it made, a champion surfer who taught surfing for a living. A real beach bum. Diego certainly never seemed to miss a chance to remind him just how much he detested that of Kimo. Then again, Kimo never missed a chance to dethrone Diego from his apparent leadership position by trying to embarrass him or catch him in a great problem. Martin and Melody, the young adults, just seemed bent on having the time of their lives and making sure the teenagers did too. Clarence observed all the antics without actually getting into the mess very often, while Deb mother-henned her way around everyone.

It would then come as a surprise to the entire group when it was time for the serious meeting to begin -- and after Diego herded everyone in and Clarence helped to holler to shut them all up -- Kimo being the worst of the offenders, naturally -- it was Kimo who rolled his eyes and crossed over to the rolling chair. It had quickly become a symbol of power in the house, and of presiding over a meeting.

"We have problems."

"Some of you have mental problems," Diego snorted.

"Thank you, Diego, for finally telling your alter egos that! Now you can start your path to restoration," Kimo chuckled.

Clarence cleared his throat.

"Well, ah--here's the issue. I'm sure most of you know of these by now," Kimo reached over to grab his laptop, not reading from it, but clicking and typing as he talked, then turning it around to show, "Here's some friends of ours, and some things that have happened to them in recent years. This young lady here was a part of a testing facility for evolveds," Kimo's voice got lower as he became more serious, and as he spoke anger edged his voice, "Funded by various organizations. She's now trying to rid her particular area of these people who are funding programs that have harmed her so badly, but is being attacked and called a criminal for it. At that facility, some 30-odd evolveds died under their so-called care. Gloria tells some horrifying stories of what happened. You couldn't even expect animals to do most of it, they couldn't think of the awful things these nonevolved, subhuman jerks have done---"

Kimo went on, explaining various situations and how different groups were attached to the prejudice attacks against the evolveds, and how when people tried to be rational about fighting back, they were harmed too, and how when people pushed to have their rights back and justice made, they were called criminals. Deb, at some point, had to leave the room from crying so hard. Clarence too, as stubbornly grumpy and unemotional as he was, eventually stood to leave the room, one hand over his eyes.

"Clarence." Melody jumped up to hug him, but he pushed her back, roughly telling her to back away and shut up. Melody tripped and landed on her butt on the floor and he left, "Ow. Kimo, what's the point of upsetting everyone like this?"

"Clarence and Deb had an only child that was killed by these sorts of people. Diego was kicked out of his home, as was Melody kicked out of hers. Daniel nearly got lynched, the town certainly was headed in that direction. Domani found herself in a prison simply for having powers, where she was shot when Diego and Elisa helped her to freedom," he waved at the cast on her leg, head shaking, "Jay has abilities that are dangerous and people would rather ignore. He'll be a hazard to himself and everyone else if that continues, and it shouldn't. We shouldn't have to live in fear of ourselves, we've done nothing wrong. We should have a chance to grow and learn how to handle ourselves. It is unjust and inhumane. We are always striving to be better, to do better, but we're always harmed in the efforts."

"That didn't answer my question." Melody pointed out, "It just makes us more upset."

Kimo took a breath, "Many of us here are already trying to help by helping others, but if we don't stand and make a statement at some point, it'll end up being useless. They'll win if we quietly let them continue to kill and maim. I suggest that we adopt some of these causes I've mentioned," he tapped the laptop, where Gloria and some other still living evolveds that were fighting back where still displayed, "We should also make a stand for our rights, before we become the next ones neck-deep in trouble and possibly unable to get out."

"'Course," Diego answered with a nod, "That one group was international, yeah? Helps feeds lies 'bout us being no more than fools and animals and freaks and gets it out t'other places. Even Western Europe," He snorted, "Supposed to be the most evolved-friendly place there is." He glanced at Domani, "Pretty friendly, ain't they? I say we go for help out those who want to end the propagation of that foolishness."

"Then there were those idiots here," Drew muttered to himself, only those around him would have been able to hear.

Melody was twirling her hair around her finger, "It's scary."

"I'd be more afraid of what would happen if we didn't do something." Diego muttered.

Kimo nodded, eyes looking across the room to see who else had something to say about this.

"We sponsor these people." Kimo now handed out folders, one containing a person, "With whatever it is they need. I say that we start by making a statement, to show that they are supported. Now, in each of these cases, everything legal possible has already been done to stop them. If you want to work on a legal end of this," he jabbed a thumb at Drew, "Ask him about it."

Drew jumped when Kimo did that, and the sneer on Kimo's usually good-natured face would be undeniable by even those who didn't know him when he did. Diego also frowned deeper at that reaction, but both were only momentary and would have been missed if not spotted right then.

"He'll get in touch with a friend of ours, Percy, to help ya out," Kimo clarified.


The Files

**** Mudslide --- The girl that Kimo was originally speaking about. She was in a testing facility and is now trying to rid an area of those who would put more in a testing facility.

**** Vintria --- A plant evolved who was nearly killed, three different times, as a youth because of her abilities. Each of the times, it was an effort from the community. She is now tracking down these people, as it turns out many of them were leading scientists for the said testing facilities.

**** Wind Bliss --- The files mention that he is a questionable character. He was thrown out of home and community for being a wind evolved. He's quite in love with his powers and simply means to show the world how wonderful the wind is. Unfortunately, he's a case of someone who was never helped with his powers and he does not understand that the rest of the world can not tolerate this. Wind Bliss is a double mission: To both aid to keep others from attacking the poor, misunderstood soul, and to try to get him on a speaking level so he stops being uber destructive without realizing it.

*** Storm's Eye --- Has a knowledge that information and spying is going on in a town that tends to birth a lot of evolved children. Is in the process of trying to peacefully destroy this and make a statement, though some circumstances have caused him to be become more and more destructive.

**** Photon --- More or less bullied and tortured by the NSA and with vital information on an organization that seems to be pro-evolved, yet is not. This assignment involves both infiltration and trying to keep a constant vigilance on Photon. He's on this side, but needs help and guidance. This file is marked with a red star on the papers. Obviously, this isn't an assignment they'd just hand to everyone.

Ah, and yes, Drew did give a double take on this final one, but wisely kept his mouth shut.

"That's why we're puttin' you with experienced people. You'd probably be good with-- Vintria or Mudslide, m'be even if you went with me somewhere. Shaking up the territory for them, or the plants, or just being with someone who can feel the way your powers work might help them to help you with your powers." Diego said, "Clarence wouldn't mind your switchin' up with me for the missions and some training, and I wouldn't mind it either. "It'll give you experience and help you to understand your abilities some, 'nd give you a chance to do something good with them."

He smiled, but it was that slow, 'I've got you now' smile he would give to Kimo in one of their fights, "And relax, kid, remember we're here to help ya out, we're not going to let nothing bad happen. Except that you had to meet Kimo. Sorry about that."

"Daniel," Kimo drawled out, stretching back a bit, "Tonight you and I have a certain earth evolved to fix."

"See? Turns on his own."

Kimo chuckled.

"It depends on who you take on," Diego pointed out, "Some of those people have a lot of thought behind what they do. Some of those assignments require a lot of thought. Some of them might require us taking the lead away. Most of them, we're joining to help, so we'd likely be following on their heels, as lackies, if you want," He grinned at that, "but two of them we're meaning to try to help out because they are or may have a hard time helping themselves. Just depends on what they have in mind, and how well organized they really are," He shrugged. "Don't worry about powers. Those will come natural, and we'll help ya with that. Didn't we promise?"

"Ok, Daniel, you and I are going to take on this Photon person." Kimo claimed.

"Why do YOU get to?"

"Because Daniel's the best of everyone here."

"Impossible! Following you! Elisa's the best here, and you know it."

"I doubt when Elisa hears me speak my native language she even realizes it's not English. Daniel it is."

Diego folded his arms and grumped, "What does he say about that?"

"What do you say, Daniel?" Kimo grinned, "Just until Drew busts himself free from those chains completely. I could go too, for a bit, as your concerned coach." Then he turned to Jay "Diego was right. You want Vintria or Mudslide? Diego, I think for you Wind Bliss---"

"If anyone got Wind Bliss, it'd have to be you! You're the only other lunatic here!!! Girls, I say we go for Storm's Eye or Mudslide."

"Now wait a minute. Lila is not going to be partnered with Wind Bliss either," Melody protested, "We need to be placed with someone with experience AND a good head on their shoulders, and so does Chuck and Martin."

"Diego, you, Domani, and Elisa really don't have a choice but to take Wind Bliss. Melody's right. Unless someone here wanted to pair up, and we didn't take Wind Bliss in?" Kimo frowned, "Maybe we can find someone else."

He looked around for comments.


OOC: This isn't going as far as I want it to---but I'm going to wait until ya'll's weekend to post again, so that everyone has a chance to answer. I'll post again on Thursday morning U.S. time. It's 3 days instead of 4, but really I'm giving an extension as is. I want the next reply to be able to come in when most people are around and can reply, which means a weekend.

IF the DA'rs that haven't replied in this don't reply by the time I post again, I'll simply put this to replying and stealing characters in the process EITHER after everyone else who is active has replied OR four days have happened, whichever comes FIRST.

Domani, upon hearing about Wind Bliss, snatched the file for herself from whoever happened to be holding it. She skimmed it and quickly translated the conversation for Elisa. She gave herself several moments of thought, trying to organize her thoughts and get them to work out best. She tried to figure out what each mission needed.

She decided to put her two cents in, "I think that whoever gets Wind Bliss should be the strongest and most controlled Evo. Photon doesn't really need a lot of power to keep watch, he needs stealth. I think Elisa and I should get that one because she can look like anyone and blend in anywhere and I can practice a bunch and be a mouse in her pocket. Literally, maybe. Mudslide should get someone who really needs to work on their abilities because that sort of work would probably help gain control. And Storm's Eye should get someone persuasive to try to get him to calm down but still keep up the protection of the kids. I don't think that the person needs a lot of skill with their power if they can handle it the first way."

Then she sat back and hoped that that was what Diego wanted. She did not really care one way or another which one she got but Diego seemed to think they would be best suited for Storm's Eye or Mudslide but their powers would be most helpful with Photon. And, at the moment, Photon was a very important mission and the best abilities should go with the ones that would work best. And her and Elisa's abilities seemed very very good for infiltration. She just hoped Diego did not mind doing Photon's if they happened to get it.
