User Image Swish-swish-swish. Malon trotted happily through the grass of the mountain, little Epona trailing along at the farmgirl's tails, though the little Guardian got a face full of fur every now and then from the redhead's happy little jaunt. The winter had just been so horrible, it had seemed like the entire Mountain's population suffered from that... oh, she didn't know what it was called, but she knew it involved sunlight and depression without it.

Yep, that sounded about right from how many kitsusagi had moved inside from all the snow and everything.

Malon had only moved inside because everybody else was in there and entertainment without company was -boring-. But so had the inside of the cabin been. So once the weather had warmed up in the least, she'd romped right back outside.

"Isn't it nice to be outside, Epona~?" she asked, looking back at the little red-black-and-cream furred Guardian, whom looked at her almost blankly, wagging its little tail lightly, before entertaining itself with her tails. Probably the most answer she would get. "I thought so too~" she replied, not missing a beat. No answer meant she got to fill in the blank.

It was only through her chipper little romp she came to a rather nice opening of field full of grass, some flowers, a couple of trees and a nice little place for her to giggle, like any daydream filled girl, and throw herself into the grass.

"This is the life, isn't it?" she asked her little friend, and Epona sort of nuzzled into the grass without much of a true answer. Again, it didn't bother Malon, who simply rolled over onto her back and stared up at the sky. "Think anything good will happen today?"

User Image The winter had indeed sent many away, including this Kitsusagi who now had also returned. His journey had not been into the cabin like others; his had taken him far away and only now he returned to this place that he had acquainted with being known as 'home.' Spring had come; flowers were blooming once more; animals were returning and the chipper song of birds filled the air. The sounds and smells told him how much more spring would bring and soon the air would be warm and welcoming.

For now the open patch of grass was content enough for the nature loving fairy boy as some called him. While no fairy followed him this time (for he had lost her some time ago and still quested for his guardian), he did have another friend with him: she was mostly a dark shade of green with strange lighter (much lighter) green runes etched in her body but it was the stone helm that was most distinct about her. She does not trail Link but rather sits on his head nestled in the warmth of the hat as he walks slowly through the tall grass as his various gears shake and chatter slightly with the movements. Eventually he would find a spot suitable for him and take a seat.

With a careful maneuvering of his body he reaches down with his mouth to pluck off a pouch that dangles from his belt. He sets it gingerly on the ground before nosing it open to reveal the priceless Ocarina he still had. Carefully laying himself down around it, he settles it in front of him and between his forepaws, which twist it around so that the mouth piece is pointed towards him and the holes face to the sky. Closing his eyes he begins to play, which is difficult without fingers but he has had much practice and with the help of Midna (who has climbed down to assist), soon a beautiful melody begins to fill the air as he welcomes Spring back in his own way.

The sound of music filling the air was no stranger to the farmgirl, who was so used to simply singing her own little songs (some stranger than others, she'd admit) for the whole world to hear. She was so used to hearing her own voice that even for a few minutes as she let the tune wash over her, not even pondering the source of the tune.

In her mind it was her own fault and she didn't even know it. Not until the little guardian whom enjoyed the nature and took such ease around her being nuzzled itself defensively into her skirt, bringing the redhead to finally open her eyes again, realization hitting her kind of like subtlety did with bricks. Why she'd thought the tune was her own, she'd never guess, but she did come to realize that the tune was -not- her doing.

Far from it.

With a sort of laziness to her demeanor, she rolled over onto her stomach, her skirt twisting awkwardly with the guardian latched to it, to survey the area with a cautious once-over, before she again closed her eyes, swaying side to side with the tune. It was lovely.

Was it familiar? Yes and no. The tune, she couldn't quite put a paw on, but she soon found that it was the sound itself she recognized, bringing the farmgirl to quickly rise to her paws, Epona being flung awkwardly at the sudden motion.

"Sorry, girl!" she apologized profusely, scooping up the Guardian by the scruff of it's neck, before bounding off into the grass to see if her suspicions were correct.

Epona bounced a couple of times in the awkward carry she was in, before scrambling into Malon's scarf to hang from around the dreamer's neck as she went on her epic quest (which wasn't so epic, seeing as following noise wasn't all too difficult), finally finding a.... 'hiding place' (it was hard to hide when you partially jingled when you walked and were practically squealing with excitement), also known as a tree, to stand behind, poking her head around it to peer at the green-garbed Kitsusagi, her tails wagging back and forth.

"Look, Epona.." she part-giggled, part whispered, "It's fairy boy~ <3"

User Image His royal blues eyes were closed as he lets the tune fill the air. It was perky and happy (and for the interested, the song of the Lost Woods!), a song of nature and played in its honor. His tails move with the beat as well, swaying and thumping the tail simultaneously. The sight might be amusing to those who observe especially as Midna helps to cover the holes and guide Link's paws as best she can when he attempts to help.

His ears fold against his head as he lets the song fill his heart and his ears, enveloping his senses with a long lost feeling of excitement. It brought back memories of going through the woods, of hunting for fairies, chasing Skull Kids, and firing seeds at targets. He recalls even greater adventures of destroying phantoms and giant spiders, of protecting monkeys and children. He remembers the times growing up where he was different; all had fairies but he. Oh the ridicule.. the hardship.

His thoughts were wandering from happiness to sorrow as he remembers more. His brows knit as his song changes slowly comes to an end and he lifts his head up while opening his eyes. His expression remains distant and thoughtful, but at the same time troubled as his memories continue to come to him. Midna looks up at him, giving him a disapproving look and a gentle sigh before climbing up onto his arm to give his cheek a comforting pat.

He gives her a smile; he had always been more expressive this way rather than speaking. With a solemn nod of agreement with the Guardian, he lowers his head down to rest it against his paws and the famous Ocarina, one of his many adventuring trinkets that he had not had the heart to be rid of.

It had been such a lovely tune, Malon had enjoyed listening to it so much that once it ended, seeming so abruptly, she found herself frowning a bit. Why had he stopped playing? For a few minutes, she waited, wondering if he'd start again.. but nothing.

Nothing was no good. It was no bad too, but in this case, no good. She frowned a bit, looking down at Epona and nodding firmly. "Think something's got Fairyboy's..... well... he doesn't really talk, hm?" she remembered, squinting her eyes and thinking really hard to make sure she was recalling a lack of any speaking correctly before she'd finished her thought.

Yeah, nothing.

The guardian said nothing, but that was because Epona too was a silent figure whom she was all too well versed in the ways of one-sided conversation due to. Not that Malon had expected much of a response.

The redhead peered around the tree a couple of times, poking her head back into hiding every time, giggling, then repeating, seeming to be formulating some 'devious' plot in her mind, before she attempted to be as sneaky as possible, crawling through the grass (with a certain degree of noisiness, since she was used to handling animals in a corral, not a battle-worn Fairy-boy who might not appreciate things trying to sneak up on him...), her tails swishing back and forth before the red head found herself close enough to pounce on the laying figure of the all-too-familiar Hero-of-Time (amongst other things... but she didn't know any of said titles) with a joyous laugh.

"Hello there, Fairy-boy!" she beamed, seeming all to happy to treat the meeting as she would any game.

User ImageLink was not paying any attention at all to his surroundings. He had put a relatively good amount of belief that he was safe; perhaps this ws naive of him to do for there had been many a time when he would be relaxing somewhere or believe a spot was safe only to be jumped. It seemed he had not learned, or maybe he was putting faith in Midna that she would warn him of any incoming danger and give him time to spring into action.

It may not be the case though as Midna curls up against him too, tucking her hands up behind her head as she rests against the warm side of his tunic and body. His head tilts, his left cheek coming to rest against his paw as he closes his eyes to let himself become warm by the sun. His ears are laying against the sides of his head, as relaxed as he and his Guardian are becoming. Here in the tall grass maybe no one would find him taking a snooze for it's a snooze that would be best to hide his woes.

It'd seem it wasn't meant to be for even though he had complete faith in his world he could hear the rustling. His ears are the first indication of his realization: they perk up instantly. Then his eyes open as he hears the sound coming closer. And closer it comes; his head lifts up. Even closer..! He stands with a loud sound of his items shuffling and the loud squeaking of Midna as she's (unfortunately) tossed to the side by his quick movement.

Now alert, Link turns his head this way and that just as a breeze blows, muffling the loud sound of the body leaping at him. He turns his head just in time to catch a flare of red before he feels a large object ram him in the side. His body is sent flipping and with a loud thud and groan of pain (and the trademark Link scream as he flew, too, by the way) he hits the ground with his attacker on top of him.

It takes a few moments for his eyes to clear and when they do, he finds himself looking into the beautiful face of Malon and instantly he feels the hot flush of heat rise in his cheeks as he lays there beneath her. He opens his mouth to speak, but finds himself temporarily tongue tied so instead gives her a bright smile. For her presence has now brightened his day.

No answer? Not a problem for her, again, she'd been conversing with the queen of silence.. who was..... somewhere. The farmgirl did a quick glance-around to see if she could find the tricky little bugger (AKA Epona, whom had been flung from her scarf and off somewhere..), sighing lightly when the Guardian didn't make an appearance, before looking back down at the rather travel-covered, in regards to the essence of pure nature (dirt for example) that seemed to cover him, warrior she was happily sat upon.

Malon's tails swished lightly, though the happy little dreamer found a light flush of heat under her fur at the bright smile she received in greeting from Link, doing her best to return it, but finding that it was less 'bright' and more 'shy'. Not normal for her at all.

Curse you face-heat!

"I guess that works as a hello." she said in terms of the smile, wagging her tails a couple more times, before she rolled off the green-glad hero and onto her back, folding her front paws onto her chest and tilting her head to look at him. Hmm, it seemed to her as though the winter season, and wherever he'd been in the time they'd last seen each other, had done some to change him. Not.. him rather, but... well, he had an air to him.

But maybe that was just that formentioned dirt being pesky and playing with her mind.

However, she played with this thought for a moment, giving Link a bit of an intent stare as she debated between 'fact or game of the mind', before a swell of the chest and a bright grin later broke the look, as well as ended the debate.

Her ultimate decision would never be known.

"The song you were playing was lovely, Fairy boy." she said, changing the thought-train.

User ImageLink rarely spoke; maybe she remembers that from when they were children. Then again most of the time him not speaking was due to others interrupting and speaking for him; specifically a certain fairy that he chose to put out of his mind at this moment to focus on Malon. He spies the flush that blossoms on her own cheeks, which is much lighter than his tomato red.

He blinks at her, losing his smile at her comment and giving an idle shrug of his shoulders, which is followed by a second smile though this one is more timid than the first. When she rolls off of him, he climbs back up slowly and takes a seat next to her to look down. Yes, he had changed; he had grown not just older (though they had seen each other as adults several times before), but more mature. He had seen many new things and they had changed him. But he was still the same ol' Link, her Fairy Boy.

He stares back at her, his smile again vanishing as he is the victim of an intent investigation. She wouldn't be able to pick out what it was that was different with him though; he hid his inner thoughts that well. It wasn't always intentional though.

His ears bend down against his head, tilting it down to hide his face in a moment of embarrassment at her words of praise. His nod is slightly numbed and slow as his tails brush slowly against the ground; his only word of thanks was that silent gesture.

She knew better than the keep her hopes up for an answer, instead contenting herself on the ever-so-female ability to just read body language. An up-and-down of partial smiles, partial shrugs, partial.. well, partial speaking. But it was good enough for her.

She took his 'answer' as a good moment to roll over and pop up into a mimicking sitting position, not mockingly, but rather to make it so the hero didn't have to look down at her anymore. Looking down for a long time had a tendancy of making one's neck crack when they looked back up. She learned that from one-sided conversation with Epona.

Speaking of whom...

Malon took another concerned glance around, frowning lightly. "Oh dear.. I seem to have lost Epona.." she said, her shoulders drooping lightly at the statement before the redhead rose to her paws, poking around Link to make sure she wasn't behind Fairy-boy, before proceeding to widen her search-scope just a tad.

"Hmmm.. did you see where she went?" she asked, glancing over to him with an inquisitive, yet slightly pouting, look on her face. Goodness, maybe Epona was avoiding Fairy-boy again!

User ImageLink stiffens slightly as she sits up next to him. His ears flip against his head and pin as he tucks his head down into the collar of his tunic and shirt to try and hide himself. He had always been shy, and now being an adult, a man, well, one can't really hide themselves from appreciating beauty. Not even a hero like Link.

Naturally he was silent, if only to keep himself from saying anything stupid. His tails rest still now behind him, too scared to even move those for fear of what they might do if they could do anything. He shuffles slightly at the ground with his left fore paw (being a dominant left after all), trying to pass by agonizingly slow idle time by entertaining himself with what he draws, which is really just nothing but random swirls in the dirt.

Then Malon speaks up, and he lifts his head to watch as she circles around him in search of her friend. Midna, at this time, has dragged the Ocarina back over to Link, scowling up at Malon for having so rudely thrown her aside when she pounced Link.

"Link," she says, tugging at his tunic to get his attention. "Use the Ocarina. I remember what you told me.

He blinks down at the Guardian, nodding his head. Like he had done earlier he lays down, positioning himself over the Ocarina and begins to play the familiar tune of Epona's Song to see if that will bring her back.

A few feet away, Malon was sniffing about in the grass, getting faint wiffs of her companion, but getting more of Link's scent than Epona's. Not that she'd really complain about it. He smelt rather nice, actually... like a forest. She appreciated forests a little bit more since she didn't really get a lot of FOREST, forests in her venturings.

Malon looked quizzically at Midna as the guardian made her reappearance, which, for Malon, was a first-meeting moreso for her. That....... wasn't the Fairy she remembered oh-so-well. She knew it was the same fairy-boy, but that wasn't fairy-boy's fairy-friend. The redhead seemed to contemplate this very thing until an oh so familiar, and nostalgic tune, filled the air, causing her to go into a sort of..

daydreaming state. The farm, her dad....... the 'hired help'. That last one wasn't as nice of a person to be around, but her dad and the farm were definitely nice.

But it was her mother's song, and her favorite one. With a deep breath, Malon joined in with the tune, allowing the familiar song to just flow out of her, like an extra appendage or sentence in speech. A part of her.

Another few feet away in the -other- direction, opposite of her companion, the little red-and-cream furred head of Epona popped out of the grass, her eyes darting around with a bit more alertness to her actions, before the guardian sunk back into the grass, scuttling through it towards the source of the ever-so-lovely tune she adored, practically curling up at Link's side.

While both Link and Malon were a source of said song, Link was closer, therefore got the immediate adoration of the partially subdued Guardian.

User ImageNo, Midna was most certainly not the old fairy he had; the creature that had earned him the nickname of Fairy Boy from Malon. She was something else and someone else entirely, and he wouldn't even know where to begin with explaining her to Malon. He wouldn't have to though he figures, at least not for a long while.

The song was played as fluently as the day he had learned it; not a note was missed. The sound filled the air and it did its job in calling Epona back to her mistress and what had once been her Master. He opens his eyes at the prodding of Midna who points at Malon as she sings and sways with the song as well. It comes as no surprise to him that she is as affected as her companion is.

Soon he spies Epona, watching as she collapses next to him and he lets the song slowly taper off to an end and smiles at the red and white Guardian. Slowly he sits back up, but reaches down to pluck Epona up in his mouth and carry her the short few steps over to Malon. Holding her in his mouth by the scruff of her neck, he grins at her, looking silly as he takes a seat and offers the little creature to her.

The song had tapered off for a while, though it didn't stop her from singing her happy little heart out. Singing was -her- power, though it didn't really do much more than get a giggle or two out of her if she happened to get an audience. It was only after another minute or so that Malon too tapered off, smiling to herself at the joyous little tune, before turning to see if the little Guardian had made it's appearance...

Only to practically turn into Link, squeaking lightly when she almost touched her nose to his, only to flush and lean back away from him slightly, tails swishing a bit in an almost 'we mimic the pulse' sort of manner.

This was only partially lost to the little guardian hanging from Link's maw, a smile brightening the Farmgirl's face. "You found her!" she chimed in a sort of rejoice (the little things always added up), smiling brightly, before rewarding the hero was a small lick on the cheek, before taking Epona from him, awkwardly.

Maw to maw transfers had a tendency to be such, afterall. But once Epona was back in Malon's sight, the redhead resumed her careless air, looking around for a moment, before carefully placing her longtime friend into the neck of her shirt and scarf.

The redfurred Guardian sort of hung from said location lazily, the expression on her face reading that the guardian's oh-so-favorite tune was still playing in her head, giving a sort of 'drunken' aura.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 27, 2008 11:30 pm

User ImageHe shrinks back himself as she nearly bumps into him, but only after that split second when their eyes came into contact and their noses almost touched. Once more the Fairy Boy felt his cheeks become red, almost as red as Epona's fur. He smiles now sheepishly at her from around the little Guardian before extending his head out once more in offer.

He nods when she makes her exclamation at the sight of her once missing friend. Darker he turns as she rewards him with a kiss, and he slowly pries his mouth open to let her take Epona way from him as his thoughts reel because of the kiss. How does one react to that after all? He had grown up fighting monsters, saving lands, and well... love? That had never been an issue, but friendship had.

Link's head angles forward to look at the Guardian as she's stuffed away gently, seeing how drunken she appears because of the effects of the song. He looks back up at Malon before timidly scooching to sit back next to her though albeit closer than what is considered normal.

Midna, meanwhile, rolling her eyes and shaking her head climbs up Link's backside to sit on what is considered the best resting spot as a 'shoulder.'

"You," she states pointing at Malon. "You need to watch your friend. Link can't be here saving her whenever she goes missing. He's got more important things to worry about!"
