 ok guys~
so i often have this problem more so at college then when on break.. of not being able to sleep probably once a week now or some s**t. it never used to be this bad.
but anyway, i will lay down to go to sleep, and suddenly my heart will start racing really fast, and i'll lay like that for hours without being able to fall asleep i usually just get up and do something and fall asleep around six in the morning. which would be okay, if i didn't have classes, that is.
i went to the doctor about it a while ago he said to stop drinking caffeine for a while.. that didn't help at all, actually, it made it worse. he gave me sleeping pills after that. those didn't do a thing for me either.
the only thing that WILL knock me out is alcohol or pain killers but i can't be popping pills/drinking every night, you know?
any suggestions on what i should do?

i suggest not getting up even when you know you're not going to fall asleep. keeping your brain and body active isn't going to help. i would go to a different doctor and see if they can help you more than the last. i mean, a doctor's a doctor, but there are plenty of doctor's who don't completely know what they're talking about when it comes to some things. and i'd still lay off caffeine, AND alcohol and meds, unless prescribed. that's just what i would do.

i have the same problem I can lie awake for hours and it seems like a couple of minutes
try not going on the computer too much, or stare at a screen for too long
for me, this only started for me when i got my own computer which i'm on pretty much everyday

oh wow. i thought that i was the only one who had that.. like, laying down and having a racing heart and lack of sleep..
are you thinking of certain things when your trying to sleep? that'll keep you up. its hard, but you could try to push certain stuff out of mind to get to rest. other than that, i really don't know what to tell you, since the same thing happens to me.
