Hey, I just got a great idea! Since we're a guild of people who love youtube and a lot of us own cameras maybe we can all collaborate on a video for the guild! We can all film 30 seconds and then have one person combine them. Maybe we can post it on the guild homepage to attract passers by. I don't think any other YouTube guild has tried that, it may just put us over the top. If you want to be in on this, post your youtube username... and lets see how many people want in on the fun. Also we need someone truly skilled to put the pieces together. Ryojo This guy is a VERY good musical artist. He has lower-than-average quality songs for download for FREE, and they're Creative Commons, which means we can use them if we give credit. Despite what EVERYONE other than I am saying, you cannot use ANYTHING [legally] under copyright just because you give credit. In fact, you can't use ANY copyrighted material at all; it doesn't matter if you give credit to the music industry as a whole, or say that you made the movie/song clip by yourself as a one man show. Creative Commons has more than half-a-dozen different licenses, each one has separate meanings and rules; but this guy has a Creative Commons that, put simply, allows anyone to use his songs as long as they give credit. And because we were going to have credits ANYWAY, we might as well use his songs. And I'm not saying this is a necessity, but I will pay for the song download if that means getting a high-quality song. Of course I'm not going to say "I'm paying for it, I'm choosing the song!"; this is a group project. We can all play the song-samples and nominate a song(s) we like, and then pick. Oh... And rather than changing the poll again, I suggest we all nominate songs we like; pick as many as we want, and the song that gets the most votes... Well, I'll buy the high-quality version of that. Note: Anyone can nominate as many songs as they would like, but ONE person can not give multiple votes to the same song.

HOLY Caucasian Boojie! On Youtube, I'm known as Draguinii (that link to my Channel URL), and not only would I love to enter this, I would be honored to put the pieces together. Not because I am painstakingly accurate in my editing, which I am, but I also have Adobe Premiere Elements. I can do all kinds of things. From things as tedious and complicated as Chroma Keys [and/or] Green screening to something as simple (although still quite necessary) as removing a single key frame. I know many people can do much (if not all) of that, but I'm willing to do it for no more than second mention in the credits (First being "Appearances by" or something of the like, second being "Edited by"), maybe less. I just want to help the guild get back on it's feet. ...Okay, maybe definitely not HOLY...

Excellent, now we just need more members to get in on this. So we can tell how many seconds to give each person.
Youtube has a maximum of 10:00 right?

I got an idea for a video that I need help on becouse I dont have the materials I need for it.
but gladys from the game portal sining "still alive" on American idol and then being insulted by the judges and getting involved in a battle of snappy one liners.
this could be done as a mash up of game and show clips, a flash animation or as a live action thing with you and your friends in costumnes on a home made set and a lap top.
but its a must to use the voice over clips from the real gladys from the actual game.
either play the game and record it or record clips you find on the internet.
a 2nd idea I have is for a flash animation of a female G-corp or S-corp lab tech or elf tech sining Still alive on stage while every one around her dies or eats cake.
also one could evben mash up and reedit gladys's quotes to have her say new things.
I have an other idea, Episodes of M*A*S*H dubbed over war theamed video games.

EOTW666 Sounds nice to me. My username is EOTW666 on youtube. Click my logo in my sig to get to my channel. Great! Also, in our guild video we can include whatever...sorta a independent film toward our guild about the people in it. Tv clips sound ok. Just be sure you understand the rules of Fair Use, so you don't get copywrite sued.

This is what I found on http://www.library.yale.edu/~llicense/definiti.shtml .
The right set forth in Section 107 of the United States Copyright Act, to use copyrighted materials for certain purposes, such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research. Section 107 sets out four factors to be considered in determining whether or not a particular use is fair: (1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes; (2) the nature of the copyrighted work; (3) the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and (4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
Just as long as you use it in a non-profit, non damaging to the market, way. You should be fine. Also it says something about not using a huge portion of the work... I guess thats how the abridged series survive.

HOLY Caucasian Boojie!Okay, my first look at this thread was my first post here. I will be responding to it bit by bit; Post by post. Yes, we will need a LOT more members to get in on this. Despite what you're thinking, we should be worrying about it being long enough, not too long. And actually,Youtube claims that ten minutes is the maximum; I tested this thoroughly; Youtube will accept a video that is 10:58, but not 11:02. I'm guessing that the actual maximum video length is ten minutes, but Youtube wanted to save bandwidth/server space (It seems impossible, but yes, Youtube has a limit, but they just keep expanding it. And THAT is why they have so many advertisements, to all you "Youtube is whoring us out" whiners!), so they fudged the truth in a legal way. I definitely don't want to be a smart a** to you the second time Keyser, but I don't use "borrowed" clips. I have nothing against non-real people being in my videos. However, I do have EVERYTHING against non-legal being in my videos. This is purely advertisement; it doesn't apply for any of those... See, what I'm saying is... We can't discuss whether or not we fit the four points in the second half if we do not meet the requirements of the first half. Which we don't meet. Why don't we just use Face and camera? I know [a LOT of] places that we can host video files that I can download for editing. That's all I've got for now.
...Okay, maybe definitely not HOLY...

I'm here alot too... only I don't post untill I see something interesting. I second the nomination of Ryojo. I have subscribed to his youtube videos and seen that he is:
A. Good at filming B. Gaia Obsessed (He's always wearing a G-Corp shirt) C. In this guild frequently
Also for the copywrite laws, I get what your saying. Better safe then sorry. If we used other peoples work, Fair Use will make us site them at the end. Do we want to bother? I don't mind, its up to whoever we get involved. Maby we can have a vote?

HOLY Caucasian Boojie! I don't think we want to cite ANYONE. We'll already have to cite all the contributors, editor(s), writer(s), etc. And nothing ruins an independent film more than long credits. And also, we'll have to use some kind of music anyway if the credits are too long.
...Okay, maybe definitely not HOLY...
