Post your favorite recipes or styles of hot chocolate here.

I really, really, REALLY LOVE Mexican hot chocolate, which is usually a tablet of semisweet or really dark chocolate with turbinado sugar and a cinnamon-like oil used for flavoring. The traditional drink is made from a cocoa bean mash and made into a tablet with some additional ingredients, then mashed in a deep vase-like ceramic pot with a mace-like utensil, which whips the cocoa mash with the milk like a whisk.

So when I make Mexican hot chocolate, I usually use Abuelita and Horizon Organic milk, then whisk the milk in a big saucepan or pot over medium or medium-low heat until the tablet is broken up completely and the drink is very, very frothy. You don't even need to add sugar or marshmallows.

I usually mix hot chocolate and cappuccino mix (1/2 of each) with milk or water. And then put a ton of whipped cream on top and shredded chocolate pieces on top of that...I might just make one now!

I normally mix my hot chocolate with booze-ahol. Peppermint schnapps in particular. ^^; Dutch process dark chocolate powder, some cream, a few bakers semi-sweet blocks, melty hot goodness. Load on whipped cream, shave some choco curds and put an oreo cookie on top, it's darn tasty.

If I'm not being lazy and actually using a saucepan, I melt in some Nutella.
SUPER delicious.

I don't do this often because I'm laaazy, but.

With enough milk and powder for about three servings, make the cocoa in a saucepan, and drop in three Lindt truffles 3nodding

My favorites to do this with are the mint, raspberry, or peanut butter. I once did it with two mint and one raspberry, it was amazing whee

Mostly, though, I buy flavored cocoa, or use a candy cane to stir my plain cocoa.

Same here. biggrin For me, add a little coffee and a little milk with a (more than half filled) cup of hot chocolate. 4laugh Great for those like me who like the smell of coffee, but can't get past the bitterness, and like it to be chocolatey and creamy.

That actually sounds delicious.

They SOMETIMES have this mix stuff at the Costco in my town, from the Land O' Lakes company.
It comes in hazelnut, raspberry, creme brulee, caramel, dark chocolate... It's just the best.

It happens. We're not a terribly active Guild.

But at least we're interesting enough that people keep coming back 3nodding
