Okay, this question kept pooping up in my brain:
Northern Ireland/Much of Roman Catholic Europe has the Vatican Section XIII
England/ the UK has Hellsing
What does the rest of the world have?

Shouldn't it follow that other countries have special forces against vampires?
If so what do you think they are?
Who are they?

They were never covered.
The Vatican cover any area that is decidedly Catholic.
The United Kingdom is governed by Hellsing.
This is all we were ever told.

That my friend, is a fantastic option to were any fanfic writers may go, there are so many fun options to be explored with other agencies and stuff. 3nodding

What does America have, you say?
Why America has.... The Slayer!!
She can slay vamps one minute, go after demons the next, and get out in time to shag whatever damn sexy vampire she can find. (;

But yeah...I bet the government here handles the vamps...and I bet they do it in the most PC way possible.

Yes, I'm sure you can find records somewhere, Our vampire protection force is a well kept secret, more well kept then Roswell, even. whee

Well, the thing is, Hellsing handled Protestant land and XIII handled any roman Catholic land...so a question could be,
Do you think Hellsing had bases/contacts in the US?
Did the Vatican?

I'm sure other organizations exist in the world of Hellsing, but they have no relevance to the storyline so they just never show up.

I'm sure there's some line of defense in every country, but like Hellsing and Iscariot... I doubt they get along.
=/

They probably can get along on a better level then they can with the vatican, but still...

It makes me wonder who they have in Asia....or in the middle east....Or south America....
Wait, nevermind, knowing their recent nazi infestation I doubt there is any defense in South America.

Excuse me, Mr. Supernatural Defier of Death, we're here to give you a curfew. You must be within your grave by sundown, and not rise until morning. We're sorry if this inconviences you in any way. We have left a note upon your coffin lid where you can reach the Department of Supernatural Dealings, should you encounter any problems or would like to file any complaints.

Thank you and have a nice day.

Angel and I had fun hammering this one out for our fanfiction. The question did indeed arise and I've heard of several other fanficts that at least deal with the question of vampire hunting in the U.S. Oddly, I don't think ours was fully gov. run for the U.S. More like a loose network of independent hunters.

I totally agree - they'd probably contract it out to independant groups. Like healthcare! rolleyes

ditto for fan fiction. I have the american's helping out the British construct a super weapon to deal with Millennium.

But Integra gets to use it, so America doesn't actually get any screen time

but... what about the MIB?

honestly, secret gov't agencies devoted to smiting vampires... wouldn't put it past them. but the manga mentions the vice presisdent being one too if i remember correctly... so maybe any agencies would be merely a front.

and then there's fanfic to fill in the gaps like they said. i made one that i liked so much that i just cut out the hellsing bits and made it a real novel. there's still a few specials/omakes floating around in my galleries that have the "why we're not allowed to vacation in ________ anymore" series that are still crossovers between the oc's universe and hellsing.

"why we're not allowed to vacation in seattle anymore" introduces them during the early 90's, when starbucks was rising and enrico was still growing out his hair, and he gets a head full of cappuchino from a brat of a vampire and his hunter boyfriend who're on a mission to stop a canadian vampire from kidnapping the french ambassador's daughter from a concert.

LOTS of bad jokes and quoting grunge songs for the fun of it.

wow i miss writing those stories....

I agree with the idea of the US having semi-private hunters. Sort of like defense contractors. They might use government support sometimes, but I'd doubt they would be run by the government. After all, the gov isn't known for fast, correct action. And the Vatican probably has agents in the US too.

The US has Harry Dresden. cool Book!Harry, mind. TV!Harry sucks. coughcough anyway

A friend and I tackled this conundrum, actually. We decided that Texas at least has our own vampire-killer organization, rather like the Texas Rangers, made in honor of Quincy Morris and following the Hellsing model. Sans enslaved-Dracula, but eh. Texans are badass. We don't need no enslaved vampires to do our dirty work. ninja

I'm pretty sure the Vatican/Section XIII has a branch in the US. In volume six, Maxwell plus some other Iscariots are talking about the condition of the US, and then go on to talk about the deployment of members in their US branch.
