 The air was hot in the forest, trees at every corner that seemed to block you in, and smaller mammals raced across the ground. If one looked up you would see small beams of light that were able to make it through the thick branches and leaves of the giant trees. Lux was slowly making her way into the heart of the forest, picking up her legs for every root that seemed to be rising from the earth. They appeared out of nowhere and she had almost tripped at least three different times. It was cause for concern.
With such little light in the woods, it also made the shadows bigger, darker, and more frightening. They were also the reason she preferred grassy plains, ones that seemed to stretch on forever. But somehow she had walked into the forest, and had been unable to find a way out. She fluttered her wings in irritation, stopped her trek through the forest, and looked around her. All she saw was trees and darkness. She gave a deep sigh and chose a random direction, now walking away from the center of the forest. She really wished she knew her directions.

Unlike most of his fellows, Imrikalto relished the darkness of the forest... For one thing, it is much easier to hide from your winged godbrother if he cannot sneak up on you from the air... And in the deep, dense tangle of trees and brush, it is damned difficult for a wing to spot you...
Imri had learned this lesson at a young age, and used it to save himself many a time... Wings -while making Aure quite a sight in the openness of a field or the blue of the sky- made him quite awkward in the confines of the woods... Particularly a forest he didn't know well...
Today Imri just wanted to wander, not listen to his godbrother sing about the female he thought was pretty... He didn't want to worry about his sister, his mother, his grandsire... Perhaps he'd meet someone new today...
Hearing a rustle in the woods, the dappled stallion flung his head up. Dark eyes peeking out through his forelock, Imri shifted for a moment, then shrugged to himself. He could smell someone approaching, someone used to the freedom of the air or plains... The steps were slow, hesitant... Lost.
"Hello?" He called out. "Do you, need help?"

Lux jumped at the sudden sound, causing her wings to flutter. Her eyes moved over the forest, searching for any signs of life, or more importantly, the thing that had said something. What if it was a monster? But if it was a monster, then it wouldn’t have asked her if she needed help. She took a cautious step forward, and then another, and another. Should she call out to the strange voice? Or was this all just her imagination?
Deciding to take the risk, she called out into the darkened forest. “Hello? Is anyone there?” Silence surrounded her as she waited for a reply. Okay, so maybe it was her conscious or something.

Pacing closer to the voice, Imri concentrated on the direction for a moment, rather than replying. After he made a few quick turns, he spoke again, hoping she would reply. It was obviously a she, a very lost one too, it seemed.
"Aye, I'm here." He offered. "Me'name's Imri... I'm a ground-walker, but I know these woods fairly well... And if you don't mind my saying, you sound a bit lost..."
He smiled slightly. "I'd like to help you, if you'd let me..."

Her eyes moved over the forest, searching for the voice that was now very real, looking for the being that it belonged to. “I am lost, but I seem to be having some trouble finding where you are.” The thing that was talking to her was obviously of darker color since she couldn’t see it at all.

Imrikalto smiled and paced out of the shadows slowly, well aware of his natural camoflage. He moved slowly, a little leary of scaring the wind mare. He ducked his head with a shy smile, ears flicking back and forth.
"Is this a little better?" He asked with a smile. "Apologies if I startled you."

Lux looked over to where the stallion had come out of the shadows and smiled a quick and relieved smile. “If you had not come out of the shadows I do believe I would have begun to think that I was talking to my conscious.” He really was darker in color, so she still had to squint to be able to see him more clearly. He had his ears back and he seemed quiet friendly…But you never know. So she continued to stay cautious, just as a precaution.

He grinned, snuffling with soft laughter as he moved slowly into the clearing, inching futher away from the imposing blanket of the trees. "Your conscience? I am hardly that... I apologize, I did not mean to scare you... I was just, wandering..."

“You blend very well with the shadows, so it would not be hard to believe that it might have been my conscious.” She gave a small smile, trying to appear friendly. A chance to make a friend was presenting itself to her, and she would try her best to take the chance.
