Well guys I have read that Weed in fact often causes panic attacks in its users.
However I suffer from anxiety disorder, and I kid you not when I say if I'm having a really bad panic attack and I smoke I feel alot better. I really was just wondering if you guys think it Causes panic attacks or is the media only reporting half truths again. Cause I know plenty of people who smoke and I have never heard them say it induced a panic attack every time they used it. I have seen people have them from smoking but I would not say OFTEN if anything I would say RARELY but thats just me. Your thoughts?

I used to get mad-sketchy way back when I first started smoking weed. But when you build up tolerance to it, the paranoia does in fact go away.
However, if you were to take LSD, chances are you'd get a panic attack, or a bad trip. >x>;

I had a friend who couldn't smoke because it brought on panic attacks for him. As for me, though, I've been prescribed Xanax for panic attacks (lurvely little drug, alprazolam is). However, I've found that although I'm not really a functional stoner -- I can't smoke out and then go do something; I'm just too disoriented -- if I smoke out in the evenings just once or twice a week, I actually stay relaxed enough on a regular basis that a full-on panic attack is a rarity.
I'd guess that it largely depends on the individual. Some people get so disoriented that they freak out, while others just roll with it.

It really just depends on the person. Before I started smoking I had a lot of anxiety and panic attacks. When I first started smoking I had panic attacks because I wasn't used to it, but I think that's normal. Over time I've mellowed out and usually smoking doesn't cause any panicking and if there is it's short and I'm able to control it. In the long run I think that it's helped me relax easier (high or not) and "let go" of thoughts that would make me panic. Weed has aided me in this regard but the larger part of it has resulted from me trying to change myself.

I've actually used weed to calm me down and easy panic attacks before, I've never experienced or seen it induce panic attacks in people. The closest to a panic attack I've seen was when one of my friends smoked up for the first time. But it wasn't so much a panic attack as it was just not being used to the kinds of effects weed can have on them.

I got a panic attack once but it hasn't happened since. It was real scary. Good thing I had a boyfriend to have to watch out for me. Heheh, then a couple of nights later, he got one and he is a looong time smoker. It had never happened to him before. I got to return the favor for him. :3

Ya, I found out my grandmother if she smokes more than like half a joint she goes into a manic. (shes Bipolar) but shes really relaxed if she stays within her limit...... How did I find this out? I was out eating with her and she was talking about how stressed she was and was ranting on and on. And I was like "Smoke a bowl you will feel much better." I was joking of course then she goes. "speaking of weed.... can you get me some?"
Now of course I don't know where to get weed. *cough cough* but I found the conversation extremely funny and not really awkward at all. When I was like 16 and 17 I kept my smoking a major closet type of thing. Now I am more or less open about it. Hence the reason the conversation was not real awkward. People know I am not your stero type stoner who does nothing but smoke and play games and watch tv. I actually go out to concerts, hang out with friends, play guitar and what have you.

I have panic disorder, and though weed's made me paranoid, I've never been panic attack-level anxious just from smoking. I think the fact that I'm stoned makes things easier to deal with, as opposed to if I was feeling paranoid but not chill at the same time.
I've never tried smoking to stop a panic attack, or calm down when I'm anxious, but I'd be willing to try. I'm guessing it would work faster than most prescription drugs.

It's not something I've ever had the chance to test... actually, during the times when I have herb on hand and smoke it regularly (that is, once or twice a week), I've honestly not experienced panic attacks. With the Xanax I was prescribed, fending off panic was hit-or-miss, but to be fair, my prescription was for a very small dose, and I was uneasy about taking more than three pills at a time (my prescription being one ¼mg pill every 8 hours). I've since found out that the normal dosage for panic attacks is something like 3mg, but I suppose I'd rather be guilty of too much caution than too little. And... well, 9½mg plus a lot of scotch wasn't fatal anyway, so... *shrug* Whichever way you cut it, at this point I'd rather have an eighth of kush in my drawer than a bottle of bennies.

Okay, I have a mood disorder as what I've been told by a doctor. Now, when I get my panic and anger attacks, I get smoked out and everyone completely forgets that the action happened in the first place. So it's like a forward in action, toke, and it leads to a rewind, and re-record life again. <.< if that makes sense.
It's weird.

the first time I got high I got a little wigged out but after like half an hour I was fine.
I could imagine feeling your heart rush a bit might make someone nervous.
It probably just depends on the person, and the media just launched itself at the negitive.
