now seriously, i saw your guild, and i have 2 say, u dont no wat emo is. theres 4 types. style emo, music emo, depressed emo, or poser emo. style emo obviously wears skinny black jeans or ripped jeans and band tees a lot. music emos just like emo music. btw, any music with screaming is screamo. poser emos cut themselves in obvious places so people look at em and r like 'oh your emo' wen they just want attention. real depressed emos no1 knows they are cos they hide it and act all happy. they might dress emo and listen 2 emo music, but they hide their feelings. you have a crazy idea on wat emo is cos hawthorne heights are emo. and your just weird.

Wow. I read that and got major Deja Vu, is it just me or does that seem disgustingly familiar to the request from the "Lol I let this guy join" thread?

Although I'm aware of what Wikipedia says about New Romantic (which I'm sure is where you're getting your information from), it's wrong.
My information is from a reliable source.

No, you're right.
You don't call someone a Country you say they are Country.

People may not be called music genres, but they can relate to a social genre that derives from the style of music.
And based on the music and icons of that music genre, the 'groups' then form their own fashions.

Face it.
You're wrong.

Anyway...
I'm in no mood to continue this conversation.
I feel I've proven my point.
You're just being stubborn.
And retarded.
Be arsed anymore.

Tra.

Even Wikipedia is a credible source when someone won't cite their references.
http://www.fashion-era.com/new_romantics1.htm
London night clubs certainly had nothing to do with Emo, so how you can compare something that isn't related to Emo, Emo is beyond me.

http://www.pure80spop.co.uk/romantics.htm
Last I checked Duran Duran, Depeche Mode and Soft Cell weren't Hardcore Punk, so how they can be Emo is also beyond me. ******** from reading that it sounds like New Romantic was the antithesis to Punk. ******** you really must be stupid.

That sure makes a lot of sense, calling someone a style of music based around twangy guitars and old west sentimentalities. But hey you probably live in your own confusing world so I'm sure it seems normal to you.

Relating and being called something are two different things. Even if you do mean to refer to people as a group of fans, calling them after the genre negates all intentions.

I think I've proved your claims to be false so it is quite gracious of you to bow out. Don't bother me anymore.

As usual I win.

I lol'd.
Why do people do that? "You have your information from Wikipedia. My information comes from a reliable source. *Doesn't cite source*" If you're going to make that statement you should at the very least give your sources. And New Romantic? How can you say that a genre that obviously developed out of the Hardcore Punk movement developed from New Romantic, which is completely unrelated.

Smiling At Your Funeral
what's new romantic?

It was a New Wave aesthetic that was based around absurd fashion and all out flamboyancy.

Think Boy George and the like.

I think the point that the kid was trying to make was the the New Romantic and the current wave of scene both owe homage to a very feminine look, while the New Romantic movement was very much uniform-esque and proper one could say that the current scene is a "modernized" version of it. I think that's what this kid was trying to say, at least; I'm guessing he was making a similar comparison to cyberpunk and steampunk.

Oh. I get it now. I thought he'd compare it to New Romantic though because most of those punk-pop songs have something to do with love or something of the sort. =/
