Make sure to be in an Art Program! Use Paint if you are on Windows. Neat Trick: If you are in Windows XP/2000/ME you can press ALT + PrntScrn and it will take a screenshot of your most active window. So if you want to only screenshot a single window, you can use that. A Rule Please do not Quote this Post

Hey there. Just thought I'd add Marius' guide on how to do a screen capture on a Mac as well:Marius_Th How to screen capture with MacOS! It's really simple actually, just press "Command - shift - 3" (Command, also known as the apple key for the picture of the apple it holds) and a picture of your screen will automatically appear on the desktop, depending on the version of your OS this might be either a 'picture' file type (on pre-OSX computers), a PDF file type (I think, on panther), or a PNG one (with latest OS 10.4 Tiger) Also, depending on the key's you press you can also make a shot of a specific window or a specific area, which will then appear as pictures on your desktop in the same way as a screenshot would Here are the combinations: "Command - Shift - 3" Screenshot to file
"Command - Control - Shift - 3" Screenshot to clipboard
"Command - Shift - 4" Area Shot to file
"Command - Control - Shift - 4" Area Shot to clipboard
"Command - Shift - 4" + "Spacebar" Window shot to file
"Command - Control - Shift - 4" + "Spacebar" Window shot to clipboard And in case of wondering, the command key is the one with the apple, and control is the 'ctrl' key, and shift is the one with a white arrow To add to that, the file doesn't always appear on the desktop; for my old Performa (OS 8.5), it appears in the Hard Drive instead. smile Here's some additonal help: Clay West If you're using Firefox, as I do, here's a very helpful extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1146
With this you can quickly copy and save the screen, in 3 forms: entire page ; visible portion ; selectable (in this option, you can make a box over the section you want to grab. Great for avatar saving, for example).
This is a great time-saving add-on for those who need it 3nodding A Rule Please do not Quote this Post

Points to remember: Make sure you don't have anything extra turned on. For example, my Keyboard has the print screen button in secondary writing, meaning I have to turn off the Special Button to use it.
