 The fields were nice to travel across, they were flat, and had a nice mellow wind that swept through. A Soquili of red with midnight wings was roaming, exploring this land that she found herself on, walking towards the edge of the field. She had been near the ocean, and she had quickly gotten tired of it. All Lux really wanted to do was run; see how far she could run until she felt she was flying. Weird that she was born with these wings, and she had never opened them or had even tried to fly.
She was now on the edge of were the fields started, and at the last second before placing her hoof down her body gave a jolt and she was off. Galloping was a kind of freedom that she would never be able to give up, watching the earth at her hooves moving so quickly was amazing. Breath was coming faster, as she tried to keep a steady pace and she finally slowed into a jog then finally to a walk, breathing hard. Amazing.

Tail flicking to the side, a dark colored stallion wandered the open with eyes looking in just about every direction, or at least trying to... Ebony and pastel colored wings fluttered at his sides, equally ebony ears twitching upon his head, listening. This was different then his normal tree sheltered grounds, more space the spread his wings. Pastel blue eyes glanced around as he stopped, he heard something... But what? Wings stretching over his back a little, the stallion took in the open, before watching what looked like a crimson and ebony smear race across the ground before him.
His long mane ruffled in the passing of the blur before it settled back against his throat. Head whipping to the side, he tried following whatever it was until it seemed to slow all together. Well that was different... A female? With wings too? Well it wasn't uncommon. He had tow sisters with wings, his mother had wings. Even his older niece had wings and she had an earth bound mother, or so his older brother had told him.
"What? No, I don't think she would want to talk to us." The stallion snapped at something that could have been anything. "I'm not going over. If she wanted to speak to me, she would have stopped sooner."
His long tail twitched behind him, the pastel blue tips flicking a bit before falling to just barely dragging the ground. Eyes narrowing a bit, he glared at the air beside him. Though he had to look back toward where the mare had gone, maybe he should follow and see where she was going? Nah, where ever it was, he would surely cause her irritation in some manner...

When she ran, all thought was lost. She stood hunched over, no sound but her panting, trying to catch her breath. She looked out of the corner of her eye, seeing a black smudge amidst the background of a tree. Lux knew she hadn’t just been imagining it, when she had run past. She closed her eyes and stretched. Now that her breathing was slowing, she looked over to were the smudge was. Was it a bird? Would have to be a really large bird if it was. Curious, Lux cautiously over, and upon closer inspection, saw that it was another Soquili! Not just that, it also had wings!
She picked up her pace, wanting to get closer. Normally, she never got excited, opting for being calm and having no worries. But this was not an ordinary event! As she got closer she could see that it was a stallion, and he seemed rather large. He was black like onyx and had a much longer mane and tail then her own that were the color of clouds. How interesting this was. Her short tail twitched behind her and she ruffled her wings. Did he know how to fly?

Raising his head up, his long mane rippling down over his ebony neck like a white waterfall or something. The blue tips swaying gently before stilling. Turning his gaze toward the one that came closer, it did seem that she had found interest in something, though he was sure it wasn't him. A pastelly colored hoof pawed at the ground before him, a wary eye still watching the female.
"Don't get any ideas." Eton muttered turning his head away from the mare. "If she talks I'll talk. Don't get so pushy."
Turning his head back to the side, Eton steps forward a little. He didn't much like standing close to something that would inhibit his ability to flee if he had too, though there was that nagging voice in the back of his skull that kept telling him to say something to her, but he refused. If anything, he would rather remain silent and nearly still in hopes that the mare would just pass him by... He doubted that though, her path seemed to lead right to him.

He stood still as a statue, like black marble. It could even be said that he was trying to blend, which was impossible seeing as it was bright outside and the shade of the tree would never be able to cover him. She stopped a couple of feet away, watching him for a moment. He seemed to be whispering to something, to himself maybe? Her ears were swiveling and her head tilted, looking at him with curiosity.
Lux took a couple of steps forward and decided to introduce herself, wondering if he was friendly. “Hello, I am Lux. I notice you have some beautiful wings and I was wondering if you knew how to fly with them?” Could he teach her? She really was curious to see if she could do it. What a accomplishment that would be! She could imagine it now, getting a running start, already feeling the wind passing by her. She would let her wings open and she would be flying. Glorious.

Spotted, sighted and everything else that would go with it, Eton turned his ebony and pale muzzles head toward the mare as she drew closer. It was obvious now that her sights were upon him, more appointedly, his wings it seemed. Didn't she knew that she had wings as well and they weren't that surprising to see? Well that too was blown away as she asked if he knew how to fly with his own wings.
Well he knew how to fly, it was the first lessons his father and mother taught them. Stretching his wings a little over his back letting the long flight feathers separate themselves a bit before folding them back to his sides. Watching her silently, his own ebony ears twisted forward, though one twisted backwards as if someone or something was speaking to him.
"My name's Eton. I know how to fly, it's the first thing I was taught when I came of are." he nodded though frowned as something seemed to n** at him. "Didn't you learn to fly from your parents?" Eton asked tilting his head to one side a little, ignoring the little voice in the back of his skull, he would deal with them later.

At least he wasn’t trying to blend any longer, and was talking to her. And Lux stared in awe at his wings, the way they moved so effortlessly. They were beautiful, black and glossy with wonderful colored ends. They moved fluidly, and she watched as he stretched them out then slowly pulled them back in. She looked at her own wings, and willed them to do the same. No reaction caused her to become disheartened. He made it look so simple, but it seems that they could not comprehend this.
Her ears perked at his name and then his question. Eton, weird name but then again so was hers. He said he had learned to fly when he was younger, from his parents. So his parents had wonderful wings also, how exciting. “No, I don’t really remember my parent’s. My wings…I can’t even open them! It is rather frustrating.” She gave a heavy sigh, turning to now glare at the black feathers. Maybe, it was something she was doing, or not doing.

He caught sight of her staring at his wings as they flexed over his back and then back to his sides. Then there was that look of longing from her as it seemed that her wings didn't want to work. Curious, though he was sure that she would open them sooner or later. His pale tail flicked behind him as a disheartened look now came across her face, this was even making him feel low.
"I'm sure that they will open when the moment is right." He nodded, not really knowing what else to say. "Though instinct can kick in just about ant time, for me and my siblings, ours kinda always opened even after escaping our baskets."
Shrugging Eton stepped away from the trees and more out into the open, letting the sun beat down upon his ebony back. The soft swirl of color barely visible past his wings, but it was there. The sun even shown off the pastel colored wing tips, ones that stood out greatly against his sides. He was a marvel to behold, some wouldn't think that he was the son of two perfectly matched Soquili...
"So you can't move your wings at all? Not even a little?" he asked sorta after a short silence as he moved.

Lux shook her head, disheartened. They fluttered sometimes, but never really left her back. Sure, she had tried many times to open them, move them so that she could stretch them. But it never worked, they always quivered but never moved more than that. “Sort of. They just never leave my back. I would just really like to be able to open them and even try flying, but maybe they are just waiting for the right moment.”
Maybe they were, she thought. But she wasn’t about to jump off a cliff to see if they would. Because obviously that would be completely moronic and have dire consequences if such an experiment failed. She sighed, hanging her head. The sun was warm on her body, and the slight wind blew through her short mane and tail. How she would like to be able to float on that wind, just to see what it was like. But running was a good substitute.

Well, this was becoming troublesome. Eton had never heard of someone who's wings wouldn't open before, though they could ruffle, but that was about it? Perhaps something was wrong with them? He didn't quite know, he thought his father would know, but he was a distance from home and wasn't up for the long walk. He would have to see what he could do himself, hopefully he could get her to using her wings...
"I'm not sure what I can do to help..." He really didn't, he wasn't even sure how he even learned to fly, with his lucid ways of being distractable.

A small smiled appeared on her face and she looked up at him. “I bet they will open soon, no worries.” If they didn’t open up soon, then she would work on trying to open them. Maybe while he was here, she could practice and he could watch and tell her if he saw improvement. Hmm, that seemed like a brilliant idea. Surely he would know, since he was able to open his. Maybe she just wasn’t trying hard enough. Lux would need to look into this.

Head tilting to one side, Eton gave Lux a strange look, wondering if she was really the 'no worries' sort of thing when it came to wings and everything. Again stretching his wings out to his sides leting them just hang at a slight angle downwards as to not pull too much on the muscles he stood still again.
"Maybe you shouldn't try so hard to open them?" he muttered, "Shouldn't instinct kick in when one doesn't try so hard? If you are like me, then its in your blood to fly." Eton nodded as he dragged his wings into an upward motion. "I had always thought that opening wings was like learning to walk..." He gave a slight shrug as his wings snapped back to his sides.
His pastel gaze turned skyward, watching the clouds glide over head. Seeings ones that looked like they were in the shape of something. Head turning slightly, trying to get a better look at something, he wondered what most teh shapes meant, more then likely nothing. Being that the clouds only seemed to be made up of water or something, he was always a bit soggy when flying through them...

He was almost pushing it into her face that she couldn’t open hers. Opening and then doing amazing, but probably normal, things with them was making her rather irritated. What did he want her to do, launch herself of a cliff and see if she could open them? Yeah, right. Dying did not seem like a good idea to her at this moment in time.
“They’ll open. I don’t know when, but they will. A reason why they might not have already is maybe it just isn’t the right time. I suppose I have never felt the need to open them, and fly around.” She finished, trying to not end her sentence with a snap. Running was probably more exhilarating anyways. She shook her short mane and scuffed the ground with her hoof. It sounded like she was getting angry, very unlike her. She closed her eyes and gave a deep sigh, willing herself to calm down. When they opened, the light gray eyes were filled with determination. “I think that I will open them today.” She gave a sharp nod and looked at him, to see his reaction to her news

He flinched, the near snapping in her voice cut straight through him, even if it possibly wasn't really meant to be. Shaking his head, Eton raised up and looked somewhat down at the mare as if she were really smaller then he was. Eyes holding a narrow glance, he turned quick and started walking in another direction away from Lux. His tail twitched over his ebony flank before falling limp behind him, his ears pressing back against his head.
"Good luck with that then." He called back, but remained walking, "Hope you open them soon, before you do end up hurting yourself."
Without even a second thought his wings opened to his sides and made the motion of fight and soon he was off the ground. Pale hooves dug into the air as if they were solid and he rose higher until he was just over the trees, though he remained over the large open field. He glanced down a couple times before turning a wing tip and glided off to the side, thinking if she was angry enough at him, it might help her open her wings and come after him... Well... That's what he thought anyways.

Lux glared at him as he flaunted his ability to do what she couldn’t. She was so angry, and that usually didn’t happen. He flew this way and that, turning his wings in a graceful motion and she was so envious. His shadow was on the ground, moving swiftly across it. She gave a huff and shook her short mane. In the next moment she was speeding after him.
The wind rustled through her short hair, and her wings felt the wind pass by, begging to be opened. But she couldn’t. Even with all this anger and jealousy she felt she still wasn’t able to open them! How annoying. She willed her legs to move faster, and tried to think of flying, of the wind that would bring her higher into the sky, and the way she would be so proud of herself for finally accomplishing the task.
But still, it didn’t happen. And she wasn’t about to run off a cliff, because she was thinking that it might not even work. Her anger had slowly faded and now all she felt was shame at not being able to do something that should have been so simple. He was still soaring, and she slowed down to a nice even trot, and she continued to watch.
