Twinkling grey eyes glanced around the underbrush of the shrubs surrounding a small house. They turned into half moons in glee as she scouted the area. This was new terrain!

She had never been to this area before... her black and star spotted tails swished in excitement. Celeste wondered if she would perhaps meet someone new... She had never met anyone else, actually. And anyone else would be a nice change of pace.

Nose poke. Roll. Nose poke! Roll.

He knew nothing of how long he had been pushing this thing around now, but Faustus pushed the faithful jade ball with him everywhere he went. He had been a member of this territory for some time now, but had never gone out of his way to meet anyone, nor say hello. He was a very antisocial and self-reliant Kitsusagi. Well, at least he was with his ball in close proximity.

He continued to push it along with him as he headed for the Mountain Shack. While his thick curly coat of fur kept him insulated from the snow, it did nothing for keeping his feet warm. They were soaked through with melted snow, and ontop of that, he was hungry.

Nose poke. Roll. Nose poke. Roll.

On and on he continued. At least, until he poked the jade ball too far over a rock... sending it rolling away from him at high speed down the incline of the mountaneous land.

"Oh no!" He loudly yelped, running after the ball as fast as he could. But the ball easily outrolled him with it's speed, rolling down the hill like an out of control boulder. It finally came to a stop when it crashed into the side of the Mountain shack, hitting the wooden side with an almighty THUMP, puncturing a hole in the outer wall.

Faustus hadn't seen where it went. By the time he approached the shack, he was quite out of breath, panting hard. He sniffed through the snow, but... no jade ball anywhere. The grey-tabby Luck Kitsusagi loudly whimpered and began to desperately dig in the snow.

He was lost without that jade ball...

Celeste blinked rapidly as through the snow came a ball that tumbled with the speed of something .... going faster than she had seen anything move. She squeaked in alarm as the ball came right toward her head then went into the wall. Sniffing closer, she inched toward the ball and sniffed a bit more.

Batting at the ball, she managed to get it unstuck and rolled it out from under the bushes that she had been hiding under. She came nose to nose with a gray furred kitsu, must like herself.

"errr.... this yours?" she asked, tilting her head and looking at the jade ball.

Faustus looked up from the hole that he had already made in the snow, pinning his ears back at the voice of another Kitsusagi, turquoise eyes going wide. He was half tempted to flee, but then she had nodded to the ball. HIS ball. His precious, (not) long lost jade ball!

The Luck Kitsusagi was quick to pounce on it, front paws hugging it posessively. "Thank you!" He said quickly, glancing over to the female. "Where did you find that? I..." He stopped, lowering his head to sniff the ball. Yep, it wasn't a fake. "I'd no idea it could roll away so fast, but. Thank you for finding my most valuable, my most prized posession ever."

He picked it up to dust the snow off it, then rubbed his paw against it, attempting to reshine the surface. It had been rolled so many places, it was beginning to get dirty and scratched.

"Can't thank you enough," He continued. "But can't help but wonder if you have one, too. You're like me afterall, right?"

"So it would seem..." she said with a raised eyebrow. Celeste sniffed about and pawed at the snow near the wall of the shack. "I've buried my ball so that I don't have to chase after it all the time... grows old after a while. And I don't want it all scratched up and stuff."

She noted the condition of his gem and wrinkled her nose a bit. Wiggling the same nose, she tugged out a cloth from under the snow near the bushes she had been under and grabbed his ball before he could protest or take a firmer hold on it.

Rubbing at the ball with her special cloth, she polished it nice and shiny in just a couple of moments. "There!"

"You... you BURIED it??" He squeaked loudly, in a state of utter disbelief. "B-bu... but! What happens if it were to get lonely?"

Faustus made a loud chuffing sound at the mere thought of leaving his own ball somewhere behind. He and his jade ball of preciousness had never parted company. Not ever. Now that he thought about that, he couldn't think of a time that he was ever without it, not even since he had been born. The ball was there then.... it was here now. And it would be around him forever.

"The idea of leaving my shiney behind... it's positively preposterous!" He continued. "The only way it's ever going to be buried is when I'm dead. Then it's being buried with me. And then, if a---"

He never finished his sentence. He could only go wide eyed as the starry pelted female grabbed his shiney jade ball away, dumbstruck. He watched in silence as she polished the ball. Once buffed to a bright sheen, he reached out to grab at it again, hugging it close to his chest.

"Thank you!" He said quickly. "But... warn me next time. Warn me so that I may hug the ball to my chest while you polish it. That ball is special to me. We've never been apart."

"Never?" Celeste asked, tilting her head. "You and your gem have never been separated? And I can't very well polish it with you attached to it silly."

She grinned, watching this kitsu with the gem. She hadn't actually buried it. Just like the male in front of her, she had never been apart from her lucky gem. It was only natural for them to have them with their body at all time.

"I lied though... I'm never without mine as well." she admitted, smiling a bit wider. "I actually shrank it and hide it in my curls along my tail. I know it's there, because I can feel the energy with it."
