They decided to have a recount between the Kittan vs. Lunar's Papa vs. Jonathan Joestar. Sure Kittan is manly and all, but all he truly is is a Kamina clone that is nowhere near as many as the original. At least Simon proved his worth later. Jonathan Joestar is a manly man from back in the 80s, though his grandson Joseph Joestar is loads manlier.
Gurren Lagann is getting too many representatives. After two rounds of elimination, 1/4 of the characters are Gurren Lagann.
Hosaka needs to take home the gold. Without a doubt, he can easily defeat the likes of almost everyone else with the exception of few like the Gurren Lagann characters and Nagasumi. Hopefully his popularity will see him through. It kinda defeats the purpose of having a competition in the first place if someone like Simon or Kamina win, since that's too obvious.
