I'm so excited. biggrin I love M. Night, and I love that he's a fan of the series. It means that he's actually doing this for the fans, and not for the money.

I hate M. Night. He is so overrated for one thing, everything after The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable was crap, and he's all around not that great of a director. I swear to god if he ruins this someone is gonna die.

I am excited over this too smile , but I am scared too because I don't know how well he will find people to play the characters. Because he'll need some great children actors. Like to Aang and Toph especially. I hope that he doesn't make the characters too old, I think a charm of Avatar is that it's about children. I really would have wanted to see the shots of his live action movie during that interview sad . I really hope that it doesn't turn into a sort of Harry Potter flick where the children actors grow up too fast for the filming, and I also hope that they find children actors WHICH CAN ACT (unlike the child actors in Harry Potter >.>).
But I really hope it'll resemble the anime smile (I say anime because it's a source of the animation inspiration, and I've always seen it as an English Anime biggrin ). Like the live action of Nana, which was awesome biggrin . But I hope it's not Power Ranger like similar to the live action of Sailor Moon >.> (tried to watch it, but it just makes me think of Power Rangers crying ).

♪~I'm still kinda iffy about this movie, I love avatar and all, but, looking through his movies, I'm afraid he's going to ******** it up somehow even if the Co-director of Avatar are there.
Why would they choose this guy?~♫

i really dont think he's going to mess it up. he's cowriting/directing it with the two writers of avatar, so i think he's going to keep everything accurate, except he might cut some stuff out because its alot to put into a 2 hr movie.

I am really not excited about this. You can't take a cartoon and make it into a worthwhile live action movie. Especially a cartoon with special effects and things like Avatar does. Also, M. Night is a suspense film director, and even his suspense movies weren't all that good.
Ick.
Although, I won't say it's an awful movie until I've seen it.

And there is no screenshots to put in there cus' they haven't even finished writing it! But he did do stuart little.....if that counts for anything? But he better make this a good trilogy or he'll recieve some serious hurt from ALL the avatar fans! I also heard there is a dispute about the movie title cus' there is another movie coming out called avatar.....not related of course!

According to the interview, he came to them. He was watching the first season with his family and said, "Man, this would make a great movie." (To the delight of his daughter(s?)) And so he approached Mike and Brian about it.
I'll admit that I haven't seen ALL of his movies (which a friend of mine wants to remedy because she's a huge fan of his... Bigger than I am, at least), but what I have seen I've liked. I liked The Sixth Sense, I liked The Village, and I loved Lady in the Water. And I just saw a preview for his latest movie, The Happening, which also looks awesome.
So, yeah. I trust him as a director.
Also, The Village and Lady in the Water showed that he can make interesting creatures, which will help a lot if he wants to make the Avatar universe.

I'm equally excited for a live action Avatar...and terrified.
Excited because right from the get-go I thought it would make an awesome live action movie. The characters, the plots...just I think everything would be amazing with real people in real settings...if it's done correctly.
Terrified because as awesome as it can potentially be it can be equally horrible if it's not done and casted correctly. gonk
If these movies get made and are terrible, it'll break my Avatar-loving heart.

Oh wow. I cant wait to see if this really does happen. I think that if they did have to chose some one to make this movie, I think that they made to wisest choice with M Night. The way that he is able to bring his own imagination to life, I think he'll hit it. Plus, he is working with the creaters of Avatar, so I dont think that they will let him botch it to badly. I just cant wait to see who he will get to play the characters

Night is primarily a shock movie creator, not only that but he makes a boringly extensive use of the "shock ending" or using twists in his movie. If nothing he will only work to warp the image that is Avatar. The Village and Lady in the Water aren't even worth your time, the only movies that I can actually sit through of his are Unbreakable and the Sixth Sense maybe. His movies are disgustingly repetitive, all of them are supposed to have a twist ending that always, ALWAYS ends the same way. I really, really dislike his repetitive usage of wide angled shots and the use of the color red as a symbol in his movies, I can understand one or two movies of this usage, but it's getting SO repetitive and stupid.

Well at least he's not going to sum up all three books into one movie. That would have been disastrous not only to his career, but also to his health. We all know the most radical avatar fans might do something against him for doing that. Nonetheless, I'm waiting for the movies themselves before I give my judgment. I've seen The Sixth Sense, Signs, and The Village. Those are the only three movies I've ever seen directed by him. All three of them weren't too bad, about B movies. Even so, because Brian and Mike are with him, I doubt they'll let him f*** things up.
