Two cats, a seasoned warrior, formerly kittypet, of ThunderClan and a newly named, excessively beautiful RiverClan warrior meet at a gathering and fate begins to entwine their futures.

Fireheart watched his leader intently as they waited at the top of the hill that lead to Four Trees. It was the night of the gathering and he'd been selected to come once again. The moon shone brightly on the great oaks below and the other clans were already gathered. A warm newleaf breeze swept past him as they were given the signal to move and they all rushed forward towards the congregation of cats. Once amongst the other clans Fireheart slowed and began locating his friends. Greeting them all warmly and asking how they were and of any interesting stories they may have to share. He was just walking to speak to a friend in Riverclan when he heard a voice and turned to face the speaker...

Fernpelt went excited to the Gathering. This was her first Gathering as a warrior. She went down the sloppy hill and saw a bright red cat. She was reluctant to go up to the cat at first but curiousity got the better of her and she went to the strange cat.
"What's your name?" She asked the red cat. He smelt of ThunderClan so she had no need to ask of his clan.

Fireheart saw a green she-cat was the source of the speaking. He'd seen her before but he couldn't remember her name. He knew she'd been announced as a new RiverClan apprentice quite a few gatherings ago and she looked old enough to be a warrior now. "My name is Fireheart. May I ask yours?" He smiled at her kindly waiting to see if she would continue the conversation she'd started.

Fernpelt let out a purr of delight. "Well Fireheart, it's a pleasure to meet you, my name is Fernpelt, I had my warrior ceremony yesterday." She announced proudly flicking her tail around.

Fireheart smiled and purred. "Congratulations, you must be very excited. I remember when I became a warrior, the first gathering I went too I was so excited I could barely stand still." Looking her over he realized she was a very odd color for a clan cat but, who was he to judge? After all, he had been a kittypet not too long ago.

Fernpelt nodded, the rest of the gathering went by slowly with her talking with Fireheart. At last it ended and she felt a strange emotion towards Fireheart, she wondered what it was.
A few few days later she went hunting alone at the ThunderClan border. She wondered if Fireheart would be there too, shhe had something she wanted to tell him.

Fireheart talked with Fernpelt throughout the rest of the gathering and when it was time to go he flicked his tail in farewell. "See you around." he called as he headed off with his clan.
After a few days had passed Fireheart was wandering around by Sunning Rocks when he saw the strange green RiverClan cat walking on her side of the border in the distance. He rose and padded to the border. "Hello again, how goes being a warrior? No mentor following you about everywhere you go?"

Fernpelt was startled to see Fireheart there but of course why wouldn't he be at his border. "Life as a warrior rocks." She mewed. Eyes glinting mischeiviously she added, "Especially when you could almost do whatever you want." launched her tail in the water and sprayed some at Fireheart.

Fireheart jumped back in surprise as water droplets hit his face. "Hey! What was that for?!" he meowed, his voice laced with mock anger. Slowly he crept forward before pouncing in the shallows and splashing water at the RiverClan cat and darting back to his side of the border.

Fernpelt giggled and posed herself in mock attack and jumped into the river with violent splashes aimed at the ThunderClan cat. "Beat that!" She yowled.

Fireheart had already been long out of reach of the splashing water by the time the droplets were heading towards him and so he turned and let out a mrrow of amusement. "Missed me!" he called as he bounded off along the border.

Fernpelt shook the water off her pelt and playfully hissed at Fireheart. She felt an even stronger snese of affection towards him now and she knew it. She wouldn't tell him though. Not yet. "So, hows the prey in ThunderClan?" She asked.

Fireheart didn't realize that lurking underneath his playful emotions was one that was actually serious, one that would change his life forever, love. Poor cat, if only he knew what he was getting into. But he didn't and so he smiled kindly back at the green she-cat "Excellent actually, just before I saw you I caught this huge squirrel! It's like the size of my head!" a mrrow of laughter came from him again as he exaggerated slightly about his prey. Ah well, stories were amusing... usually. "And what about in RiverClan? How're the fish biting? Have they grown teeth yet?" It was odd to see Fireheart in such a joking mood, if he would've been paying attention he would've recognized it as the first sign that he was falling for this she-cat.

Fernpelt giggled and walked closer to the river. "Why don't I let you see the fish?" She looked over the water to make sure it was good and plunged her paw in. Out came the fish. She playfully flung it at the ThunderClan cat.
