Amalthea is a bright little fairy, and very curious - to a point. That point seems to be the front door of the house. She's only been outside twice and seems loath to repeat it, as she has a deep and abiding fear of the warmth of the sun. In lieu of venturing outside, she loves to research and read about everything in books. However, she is currently trying to train herself to be more tolerant to the sun's light, so that she can go see the Ancient Feien, Julius.

Besides sating her curiosity in books, Amalthea also loves to practice magic. She's quite good at it, but at this time has found there's only so far she can go without the aid of a magical tutor. Sosiqui can't help, having no magic of her own, and Kree (Sosiqui's Dream) is singularly unhelpful, constantly trying to get Amalthea to broaden her horizons with little success. Currently Amal is rather frustrated, but continues to practice.

Amalthea's favorite thing besides her bonded human is Rakuen, a small gem that was once a Feien. She believes the Feien within talks to her, and is in fact more than a little bit in love with him. Right now her desire to merge with the gemstone and have her friend as part of her soul forever is her motivation for everything she does.

Although this has been neglected as of late, Amal's other big thing is her obsession with all things Lord of the Rings. She's seen all the movies and read all the books (well, she couldn't make it though the Silmarillion) and loves to talk Middle-Earth and squeal over Legolas. She has a hidden dream to write her own 'continuation' to the story, preferably involving fairies. Heaven help us all if she learns of Fanfiction.net. She enjoys making orcs and Uruk-hai out of gum and dough, then running them through with her sword.

Amalthea has a cat, named Mister Cat, who lives in a Chinese food box. He is her only friend besides Sosiqui and Rakuen (Kree isn't exactly a friend) and enjoys laying in the sun, much to Amalthea's dismay. However, Amalthea did recently meet Shalafi and Yeande, and although she was intimidated by the Darkness Feien she did enjoy Shalafi's company and gentle nature.

Sosiqui named Amalthea after the human form of the Unicorn in one of her favorte fantasy novels, The Last Unicorn. The Feien's tiny unicorn horn makes the name rather apt.

Sosiqui - Amalthea's bonded human (also known as 'Sosi-hyooman'). Sosiqui is 23 years old and more or less average, with no special abilities or unusual features to speak of. Physically and powers-wise, she seems almost too normal for the often weird world of Gaia. Still, she has a friendly, cheerful personality with a firm hand and good eye for what is right and what is wrong. She tries to care for her little Feien family as best she can.


Kree - A Dream, also bonded to Sosiqui. Kree feeds off of Sosiqui's emotions rather than from her soul as Feien do. The Dream is genderless, and intelligent but sharp-witted and blunt. Kree is usually silent but when shi feels something needs to be said, shi'll say it. Shi gets along okay with Amalthea, but feels there is something sorely lacking in the Feien's experience and way of life.


Mister Cat - This tiny gray tabby Pixacat is Amalthea's pet. He lives in an old Chinese food box on Sosiqui's desk. She bought him for Amal hoping he would help her come out of her shell a bit.

On April 5th, 2004, I obtained this Feien bloom! It reminded me of an iris, and took to the ice immediately.








On April 11th, 2004, a tiny fairy with dark skin and a unicorn horn appeared! She was summoned from the bloom, and bonded with me at once. I named her Amalthea after the character from The Last Unicorn.


On May 26th, 2004, Amalthea grew into an adult! She's still the same spunky fairy, though, and isn't quite as mature as her appearance would have you believe. Look at the mischeif in those eyes...

A note: Feien-continuity Sosiqui is not the same as Fa'e Sosiqui or Ieidi Sosiqui or... well, you get the idea. Please don't mention those other things here, as you'll only confuse this version of Sosi very, very badly. wink And nobody wants that, right?

April 6th, 2004~

Oh dear.

I slept all night on the couch... and I think I hit the ice tray and knocked it over while thrashing in my sleep. sweatdrop Now I'm all WET. And the couch is all wet. gonk And there's no more ice!

It seems like the flower doesn't need it though. o_O The ice from last night is still there, though it seems to have stopped at the limits of the dish... it's overflowed it a little bit and made some pretty icicle designs but hasn't actually 'sloshed' (if ice can slosh) onto the table.

The blossom itself still isn't cold ot the touch, the only chill I feel is radiating from the actual ice. How very odd. There's definetely some magic at work here.

I need to figure out a way to carry the blossom to Feien HQ. I know nothing of the other guardians of Feien, and that should change as soon as possible! The more I know about the Feien the better I can care for my own bloom.

April 6th, 2004~

Got some of my work done, so I decided to take a break with my flower. heart The cracked bowl is beginning to chip off of the ice, no good, now it's just making a big mess! sweatdrop So I made my bloom a new home. Something a little more classy.

I got one of my plastic goblets (glass breaks too easily) and put some water in it, but not toooo much. Then I carefully used some ice tongs to pry free a chunk of ice from the middle of the broken bowl, a chunk with the flower in it! That was a tricky business. sweatdrop

I managed it, fortunately, and carefully put the flower and ice in the center of the goblet. The same thing as before happened, with the ice forming, but this time I was smart and the goblet did not crack. ^^ It looks quite pretty now in fact:



I can carry it around easily by the goblet stem, without it being too cold. ^^

Kree is very interested in the blossom; shi's only a little bit bigger than it is! And they're similar in color. I told hir it would be a little fairy someday, and although I don't think shi understood my exact words, shi knows it's something special.
