1) Oedipus

He is Son of Laius and Jocasta. He was prophesized to kill his father. He was sent away to be killed when he was born. Instead, he was kept alive by a messenger who sent him to Polybus and Merope. When he discovered his fate, he ran away from his fake home. He ran into his real father, and killed him. He then became king when he killed the real king.
He tries to find the truth, but the truth he wants to learn may end up hurting him. He confronted the blind prophet Teiresias, and was told the truth very clearly. He’s blinded to the truth that’s right in front of him which eventually leads to his downfall.

2)Creon

He is the Brother of Jocasta. He was accused by Oedipus of trying to take the kingdom. He is next in line for the crown. In the end, he allowed Oedipus to make contact with his children as his last final wish.

3)Jocasta

She is the Queen of Thebes. She is also the Mother and becomes the wife of Oedipus. She was married to Laius and had Oedipus, but then sent him away to be killed. (This was because of what was stated in the prophecy) She later ends up marrying Oedipus and doesn’t realize it till they send for the messenger to explain. She then is overwhelmed of all this information and commits suicide.

4)Teiresias
He is a blind prophet, the Prophet of Apollo. In the beginning, he refuses to give Oedipus and information because the truth might hurt him. After being threatened multiple times, he slowly is telling Oedipus. He tries to tell Oedipus what really happened but Oedipus doesn’t believe him and ends up thinking it is a trick. He blames Creon for what happened although Creon had no part in this.
