I was on my way to work awhile back and was passed by a small car unlike any I had seen. It seemed intriguing to me the license plate read Ontario Canada and then i saw its name. The Smart for two. I was very interested in what it was so I googled it first chance I got and come to find out it's made by Mercedes. I found the official website www.smartusa.com they have a whole section on how Ecofriendly these cars are. There 100% gas but their optimized to get the most out of every gallon. They start at around 12 thousand which isnt too bad and will be available in the US very soon.

Oh my gosh! I've seen several of those here! They look so cool! I want one!! biggrin

But wait...The normal (pure) version doesn't have air conditioning?! *faints* I don't think I could survive that. xd All versions have heating, though, right?

IknowIknow!! So exciting! whee My stepdad showed me this website when I showed him the Smart cars, and those look like really environmental cars too...But they come with a whole bunch of unnecessary luxuries that make it super expensive...

Yes Tesla are cool but about 100k bucks.
All of the smart do have heat, its just the pure doesn't. I would go for the passion, its around 13-14k and has most of your essentials like air conditioning, but your not going to get as good of gas mileage running AC. Some car magazines have reviewed these and said that they were just cruising around San Francisco with the windows down and getting about 50mpg.
If you look on the web site these are very eco friendly even the factory where their made is green.
I know they have had these in Europe and Canada for awhile but their just now coming to the US. Sadly many americans frown upon anything eco friendly, most simply dont care and think its fine that they drive their escalade to work everyday.

if you live in the Maryland area you can get a quality electric conversion for around 10k.

But yes I'm all on the Smart car bandwagon. a friend of mine picked his up yesterday. mrgreen

I wish they'd make these kind of cars less expensive because I don't have the money for those types of cars and i get my license soon. sad

...but if it still uses gas then its a problem. We have to get off of fossil fuels!

Yup.

It won't happen overnight, though. Right now, any improvement is better than nothing.
