Actually...incorrect. The term "pwned" came about as the result of a typo, as the person was in a hurry to claim glory for the kill and overshot the "o" key. Thus, instead of "owned," he said "pwned." It caught on, likely due to others beginning to make the same typo.
The term has since developed different meanings.
1. Completely annihilated or dominated.
2. Perfectly owned, meaning the other player did not do any damage.
In some way, it could even be related to "pawned," meaning the enemy that was taken out was considered "small-fry." Such as when a queen or rook goes on a killing spree against the pawns of the opposing side of a chess game.
