That's certainly a logical reason why no one else picked up the movie. The choice of directors will definitely be one of the many factors why the movie will, overall, suck. While I'm sure that Catherine Hardwicke has talent, the majority of major motion pictures by 'unknown' directors have a tendency to be box office failures.
Yes, Uwe Boll would have definitely made the movie flop. I personally have never heard of Catherine Hardwicke until they announced her directorship over the movie, and I have not seen either of the movie she's previously directed, I can't really say if she's good or not. But, what's unusual to me is that since the novels are so popular, should an idea for a movie adaption be
presented, that a more known director would be either picked or be interested in directing the movie. I find that very interesting.
*nods in return* Nice to know you enjoy my company. As for the movie, I have to say, I was very surprised when the trailer for it was released so early. You don't usually see any kind of trailer for a movie until at least 3 or 4 months prior to it's release. 7 months is just ridiculous.
