The thoughts that I find calming also subsequently strike me as disturbing. For one, visualizing excessive harm coming to those that I abhor. I also enjoy seeing scenes of extreme violence played to classical musc. Also, the best sleep I ever had was when I dreamed I could have sworn the word was "dreamt", but my spellchecker says no. of the apocalypse; rivers of lava, pillars of fire... And all the while I was just sitting on the porch, talking with a friend.
Is there something wrong with me?
Edit: Have I had a thread like this before? Once I posted, I realized I might have... But I dunno. If I did, I don't remember how it went. :/

Probably not. If they subsequently strike you as disturbing, I suppose you could view it as two sides of your personality just coming into conflict. We all have a sadistic side, albeit at different levels, even though we're not really like that in general. At least you don't take your violence or anger out on people [although I don't know if you do that or not =P]. Releasing it through different mediums such as visualization or through subconscious means such as dreaming is fine. Apologies if I've missed the mark.

Oh, no, you hit it pretty dead on.
I've never been in a fight, or hit anyone (outside of my siblings). I usually talk my way out of conflict. However... There are just some people... I get urges. Too much of a conscience to act on them, though (not morally, however- legally and rationally speaking).
I'd brought it up here, though, because I was curious about "dark" or "shadow" alignment... Not necessarily evil, but... Dark. I've always held a moderate affinity for the darker [macabre] things in life, and wondered if that had some impact magickally or otherwise... Maybe it's merely taste? I dunno. However, I've sometimes tried to steal energy from or fire bad energy at those whom I greatly dislike... But not exactly conciously. :/ Once I start thinking about it, I can't stop myself from doing it.

The only relevant topics I can point you towards is the concept of a 'shadow-self' or 'lower-self'. I'm surprised how often theres a mention of someones 'higher-self' and no mention or even allusion to their 'lower-self'. It seems to just be part of the concept of duality in most ramblings. Shamanistic journeying things usually have a mention of this if theres more then a page or two long. I'm a little short of other things to turn to off the top of my head.
