The Secret is positive thinking!...Or a genie. I'm not sure.

..Yeah, I told ya I'd do it. stare Call me obnoxious, but bringing it up just irked me in a bad way.

Wikipedia: The Secret

Anyways, one day my mom brings home a DVD labeled 'The Secret'. She said she borrowed it from a co-worker, who was very enthusiastic over it. You might've even seen it in Comcast's 'On-Demand'. The cover didn't say much about it; just 'The Secret' on the front, and something around the lines of 'The Secret has crossed thousands of years- to reach you!' on the back.

Yeah. Not exactly informative.

But we sat down and watched it; the entire point it was trying to make was that thinking of something and wanting it long enough shifts the universe to make it happen. Want a brand new home? Just wish for it to happen long enough, and you'll get it. Need a million dollars? Want it long enough, and the universe will give it to you.

..Wait, you haven't gotten a million dollars yet? You must not want it enough. You suck. Get away from me before your negative vibes rub off on me. I happen to want my dream home, the girl(s) of my dreams, billions of dollars, immortality, a key to the Playboy Mansion and a turkey-and-roast-beef sammich. =p

The movie takes the emphasis of positive thinking and tries to coerce anyone else it can for the ride through tease advertising and blatant lies- at least, that's what I think. In another sense, I could easily be the pawn in viral marketing and convince roughly 11 others in watching the movie simply on the premise of how retarded it really is.

No offense to actual retards. Unless you watched this movie. In that case I guess I can suggest positive thinking? =x Maybe the people who made the movie are morally bankrupt in lacking the consideration for people who really can't solve their problems through simply wanting it.

I can be as sarcastic all night if I really wanted to be. The real point is, what do you all think about tease advertising, and the concept of positive thinking brought to such lengths? Does it make you want to think positively about throttling the people that made and believe this crap? Y'know, like how I want to?

=D~ Lemmie know, 'kay?

There's a fine line between thoughts and actions, and actions are the only thing that get you what you want.

My thoughts were stated by Koi. Positive thinking can make things a little easier and happier, but you have to work for what you want.

I know. The most annoying thing about this "the Secret" movie is the sort of people who believe it fervently.

Everytime I say something about myself sarcastically they jump up my a** about what I'm saying becoming what I believe.

...yeah..

There is no shifting of the universe towards what you want, because truth is; you'll never get what you truly want. If there was a secret it's that you'll never get what you truly want, so just don't even bother. If you want something, you will try, to a certain extent to get it by working for it, reaching out for it, maybe putting some effort in it, but in the end, you are not the one that makes the end result happens, but it's a coalition of plausibilities that happens to give or deny you of what you were working for in the first place.

Example, you apply for a job you really want to work at. Your resume and interview are the only 2 things that you can shift directly. On the other hand, there is the interviewer, the co-workers that may or may not know you, the environment that could shift your view of the job at hand, even though the end result would still be what you wanted, but lessened to a certain extent.

Positive thinking will only get you so far as bearing the hardships, bearing the suffering, ignoring the side guys' feelings, bearing how everything mostly sucks; and somewhat turning it into a "it's not so bad" or a "could have been worse" attitude.

Randomness will get you things that you didn't want, yet can live with and appreciate. Then it makes you think as if you wanted it. Woo!
