Or if you don't and joined this guild for other reasons, why don't you?
This is a simple and straightforward question, and I would like to hear from everyone.
I'll start us off:
I support Obama because his politics focus on hope and national unity instead of cynicism and division. I support him for many other reasons, but this is of central importance to the destiny of our country--that we can come together instead of fall apart.

He seems to be pro-Education and actually seems to have plans to improve American Education. Especially when it comes to the poorer districts, which do not currently get the proper educational resources the children deserve.
Also, it's nice that he can support stem cell research and gay rights (even if he doesn't support same-sex marriage :/) And he's got pretty socialistic views on healthcare (not as far left on this matter as I'd prefer, but better than most.)
There are, of course, many a reason beside these. But, these ones come to mind immediately. Then again, there are several issues on which I disagree with him as well.

He's young, influential and Charismatic, and I believe those characteristics would be extremely useful in working with other countries and with congress. I agree 100% on his stance with gay marriages, as I have been advocating the same idea for a long time.
I think his tax plan is progressive...not the best plan, but I can live with it.
I like his stance on energy, though, just having a stance and getting results from that stance are two different things...
There are a couple of other things out there...

i liked his speech at the dnc in 2004
also, he creates results and manages to create a generate a lot of bipartisan support, or at the least tone down partisan bullshit, which is something i view as very dangerous for the country.

Well, I'm a simpleton. I judge people on their facial features and how I see them act, and make judgements based on that and things I've heard.
Yes, I probably make one of the worst voters, since I don't really keep up with all the arguments. I'm really rooting for Obama or Hillary. Even though everyone knows Hillary is Clinton's lapdog for now, and totally failing. Or maybe that's what people told me because they don't want a lady president.

'Cause he good. ----- Yeah, he seems genuine and honest, and less robotic than the competitors who just reek of typical opportunistic politician behavior. You get the impression that he knows how to play the system, but unlike others, he could possibly stick closer to his ideals than most who get crushed by the system.

Dude....just think about how much better a lot of countries would think of Black people if we even have a Black president. It seriously proves we're not as dumb as we seem...although being Black I must say it's even hard for me to believe that at times...but Barack gives me hope for our people again!
Which brings me to the second reason I like him..
He doesn't throw his race around. He always implies the theme of equality because of who he is, but you never hear him every 5 seconds saying "because I'm Black [this] or [that]". He's one of the most humble people I've ever seen in politics.

He does not want to push religion onto other people to better America. he wanted to help teach and learn. This was from his speech in the the church, it was a long one and i loved it. I am not Christian in the sense but to see someone have a message that can move me without telling me to do so because god said so earns a lot of brownie points. same with universal health care too.

I'm sick of having such a partisan, polarizing president, and I believe that Obama would offer this country some relief from that--Obama has a reputation for reaching across the aisle and getting things done.
He also matches up with my political stances quite well. Although we don't agree on all issues (Death Penalty, Gay Marriage), he's leaning in the right direction, so I'm willing to compromise.
His Constitutional Law background doesn't hurt either.

Well my first choice for president was Mike Gravel but I know he's not going to get it so I got a "reality" choice and that was Bill Richardson but now he's dropped out and I decided on Obama. I think he has some good plans and I like the idea of his rhetoric about bringing people together and moving forward. I think he'll be a good president and surround himself with good and knowledgable people. I don't have anything against Hillary but I don't want another Clinton and Edwards doesn't look like he's going to get past third. I like Edwards's domestic issues but don't trust him on foreign affairs. Obama is a lot more conservative then me (as a communist) but I think he's the best one running out there so I'm supporting him on primary day.

I think though if a democratic house and senate passed a law supporting same-sex marriage he would sign it. The only person running on the democratic side I see maybe not doing so right away is Hillary. I also like him focusing on inner city education because for a long while now it's all been talk and no action. Everyone across the country needs the help but especially the inner cities. If Obama's health care plan still involves the insurance companies then it's not socialist or even close. I'd call it liberal. Marsupial He seems to be pro-Education and actually seems to have plans to improve American Education. Especially when it comes to the poorer districts, which do not currently get the proper educational resources the children deserve.
