Ok I know everyone knows Nirvana but are there other bands that can stand beside their caliber? The reason I ask this is because whenever I think of Grunge all I think of is Nirvana. And is grunge dead? Just a couple questions of curiosity.

yeah grunge died.
other than nirvana there's pearl jam (kind of a cling on to the scene, more rock, actually), alice in chains (great stuff), soundgarden (pretty good), hole (courtney love's terrible band), mudhoney, and the melvins.
i know that both mudhoney and the melvins have been claimed by other genres, but they had a huge influence on grunge, and at the time, were called grunge by pretty much everyone, and at least mudhoney if not the melvins called themselves grunge.
but yeah grunge is pretty much dead now.
i mean, currently there are foo fighters and pearl jam. pearl jams newer stuff isnt that great, and foo fighters suck

-Hittokiri_04- I'm liking Alice In Chains. yeah, alice in chains is by far my favorite from the grunge scene. idk what album(s) you've had a chance to listen to, but definitely check out "dirt" when you get a chance.

There's Green River, too. The Melvins influenced grunge, too, Kurt Cobain did some minor work with them at one point.
