"You're early."A voice jolted him out of his thoughts and he turned to face her, dismissing the portal for now. Calm but troubled turquoise eyes met his golden ones, as his mother waited for his reply. "It isn't even the full moon yet." She prodded gently.

The half-Nobody hesitated, looking down in slight embarrassment. "It's just that...I want to ask him something first." Truth be told, he had a lot of questions for his father. "And decide where to sleep." He added, for some unknown reason.

The expression on her face turned to slight horror. "You don't have a fixed sleeping place during the full moon?" Ayako's son winced, shifting rather uncomfortably. "Wellll, Lune doesn't mind sleeping on the couch, but I figured I'm too big now so..." He wanted to come up with a more logical reason, so that she could stop being so worried. Whenever he wanted to go to Saix's house, he had always asked her to come along, and she had always refused.

"Go then." She sighed, and his head jerked up in surprise, and nodded mutedly, disappearing into a black swirl of darkness. The next moment, the portal had taken him to his father's house.

Ears laid back, the nobody's face held his usual, irritable look. Moving swiftly, he exited the house, just as Edgeworth's furious voice sounded. "Kitsumi...Where in the world did you get that huge tree?! For the matter, how the hell did you get it into the house!?" He demanded. Obviously, due to the season of Christmas, Kitsumi had taken it upon herself to go out and get a nice (and huge) tree for their living room. This poised a number of problems however, including the fact that it took up the whole - or at least, the majority of - the living room.

Not wanting to deal with this, Saix had slipped away from them, sure that Edgeworth would be able to handle this himself. It seemed rather cruel, leaving the former-prosecutor alone with Kitsumi, but when had Saix ever cared about others? Exactly, so why should he start now? Just because it was Christmas?

Ridiculous.

Mentally blocking out the sound of yelling and running from inside the house, the male Kitsusagi closed his eyes, breathing deeply. The air was cold and sharp - far more refreshing then the stifling warmth indoors. Furthermore, as long as he disregarding the yelling that came from the house, it was far more peaceful out here. Seating himself ont he cool grass, Saix snorted, decided to stay outdoors for a little while, just to relax.

Unfortunately, his relaxation was cut short when he felt a rather odd - yet familar - presence suddenly appear. Standing up abruptly, he scanned the area with an annoyed frown on his face. It took him a moment to recognize the presence, but once he did, a sigh escaped his maw. Ah, his son, was it?

It didn't take long for Xanul however, to spot his dad. Even if he had wanted a serious talk with him, he couldn't stop the huge smile that split right across his face as he bounded right up to Saix. "Hi dad! Merry Christmas! And lookie, I'm big now! Xelon and Swax are too!" The half-nobody had to stop himself from leaning over and giving Saix a hug; he doubted that he would like it anyway.

He sat back on his haunches, dark tails swishing as he looked as his father, beaming with sheer joy. Golden eyes peeked inside the house. "Aunt Kitsumi? Uncle Edge?" He hollered. "I'm hereeee!" He started towards the door, then turned to shoot Saix a puzzled look. "Why are you out here anyway, dad? It's freezing!"

Not even moving to greet his son, Saix regarded Xanul silently as he greeted him. Knowing that he would be scolded later by Kitsumi if he didn't say anything, the Nobody tore his gaze away, grumbling, "...Merry Christmas." The words were extremely uncomfortable and unfamiliar on his tounge, but he forced them out anyways. After a moment, he turned to look at his son again. Indeed, Xanul had grown up a lot since he last saw him - which was not very often, to be honest.

He watched as his son called to the others in the house, ears pinned down as he knew Kitsumi would respond. Sure enough, a split second later, Kitsumi's voice called out, "XAAAANUL! Yay! Come in and see our Christmas tree!", which was followed by the sound of rapid paws against the floor, skidding, a crash, and Edgeworth sighing.

Saix's maw twitched - whether in amusement, or irritation, it was hard to tell - before he realized Xanul was speaking to him. "...It's far more peaceful out here than in here." He replied, bluntly.

Xanul felt himself beam even brighter as he heard his father's greeting, if it was possible to, of course. The happiness in him had swelled; and he supposed it was the Christmas season that did this. Still, he wished his mother was here. Restraining himself further from giving a hug, Xanul nuzzled his father happily instead and loped away before Saix could say anything.

He bounced in and skidded to a halt as he stared in awe at the tree. "It's beautiful!" He said cheerily. "Merry Christmas!" He then turned back as his father spoke again and then gave a small shrug. "You should get into the spirit, Dad!"

The moment he was nuzzled, Saix opened his mouth to protest, ears laying back as Xanul bounded away before he could even say anything. Growling to himself - mainly about how he was getting too soft - he watched Xanul silently from the corner of his eyes.

Inside, Kitsumi tackled her 'nephew', her ears pricked and eyes bright with cheer. "Hihi, Xanul!" She greeted, happily. Behind her, Edgeworth padded up with a rather loud sigh, offering his 'nephew' something that seemed like a mix between a smile and a tired grimace. "Hello, Xanul. Have you been well? You've certainly grown up since we last saw you." Then, peering around him, he called out the open door. "Saix, come back in here. It's cold out there, and since your son took the time to visit, you might as well spend some time chatting with him."

At the tackle, Xanul gave a slight gasp and a small oof as he fell, hitting the ground, then laughed, grinning up his 'aunt'. "Hiiiiii!" He reached up to nuzzle her on the cheek as well, then tilted his head up to smile at his 'uncle'. "Yup! Been fine. You? Uh huh uh huh!" The kitsu nodded vigorously then swiveled his head to stare at his father then blinked, remembering why he was here. Scrambling up and using a yellow paw to run through his hair, messing it up even more, he called out to Saix. "Dad, I need to talk to you about...something." His gaze was now serious, instead of the usual happy, playful twinkle.

Nuzzling Xanul back, Kitsumi bounced backwards, her tail swaying from side to side. "Yeah, you've grown a lot since we last saw you!" Kitsumi commented, staring at her 'nephew' with a very 'Ooh!' look on her face. Chuckling softly, Edgeworth smiled at Xanul, shaking his head softly. "We've been alright. The usual, I would say. Kitsumi is as hyper as ever, and your father is as...aloof as ever."

His brows shot up in surprise as the other Kitsusagi then addressed his father, and from the tone of voice, he could tell that it was something serious that he wanted to discuss. Exchanging glances with Kitsumi, Edgeworth stood up abruptly and left the room, while Kitsumi bounded out the door. A moment after, she came back in, Saix's cloak hood clenched tightly in her jaws as she dragged him - growling and protesting - into the house.

"Things never change then." Xanul commented with a wry grin, getting up from the floor and shaking himself to get rid of any stray dust that had settled in his fur. He did wish...that some things would change though.

"Uh, Dad. Do you....care about mom? And wait, before you can answer, don't give that excuse about being a Nobody. Uncle Xigbar's one and he cares for Aunt Noko and well..." He gestured to himself. "I kinda am one."

"WELL. I'll leave you guys to talk then!" Kitsumi said hurriedly, dashing through the door Edgeworth had left through. A moment later, a crash could be heard, following by a mild string of curses from Edgeworth.

Snorting, Saix half-heartedly directed his attention to his son. After hearing what he had to say however, he turned his attention away. "That's a ridiculous question," He informed Xanul, curtly, "Xigbar may have gotten around it somehow, however the fact remains that I'm a nobody, and care about no one. Furthermore, you're not a nobody like I am, therefore you have no say in this matter."

"You both are Nobodies." He pointed out bluntly. "And...may I point out? You're kinda getting soft, Dad." He grinned, obviously pleased by this fact. "Well, we, as in me, Xelon, Swax kinda are. No pulse and all. Of course, we do have some emotions, but yeah." He rambled on, then realized his folly and stopped.

"Mom does care for you anyway. Although she'd rather die than admit it." Ayako was rather stubborn after all.

Saix flinched, "Soft? What would make you think something as stupid as that?" He demanded, though his son's words bothered him. He hadn't realized it, but living with other Kitsusagis had made him rather...

Shaking these thoughts away, he stared at Xanul, before shaking his head. "What does it matter what she feels about me? Frankly, none of this would have happened if it weren't for Kitsumi." He growled, though unsure whether of not Xanul was aware how Ayako first became pregnant.

"Because." His son grinned simply, a golden eye fixed on the darkening sky that showed outside the open front door. It somehow bothered him about his insomnia.

"Because of us." He jabbed a paw towards his own chest. "I think I can safely say that all three of us, and grandad, grandma, and my whole bunch of aunts and uncles want, well, mom to be happy." He blinked slightly. "And what does Aunt Kitsumi have to do with this?" Ayako had stated, very briefly, that both of them had never planned for her pregnancy to occur, but that was all. She did mention something about being drunk though...

Bristling, he turned away, frowning. "You have no proof. I have not been acting soft with anyone." He growled, as if just daring Xanul to prove him wrong.

"They want your mother to be happy," Saix repeated, raising a brow, "And is she unhappy right now? I didn't think so." He said, before Xanul could answer. Then, a soft snort left the male's maw as he looked at the other Kitsusagi. "To put it bluntly, your aunt Kitsumi is an idiot. She and your mother were also friends before I had ever met her."

"Liarrr." The half-Nobody grinned. "It's quite obvious Dad."

"How do you know she's not happy then?" He shot back, brows furrowing. "She's got a lot of problems, worrying about the three of us; stupid moon, and then of course, there's you." Xanul gaped at his father for a while, defending his aunt. "Aunt Kitsumi is nice! So, you guys... met through her?" Ayako had never told him that.
