He's a year older than me, and the music teacher seems to love him. We both play violin, but he's the best in the school and I've only been playing for a year and a half... Anyway, he thinks I'm not good enough, and that I'm just some whiny kid. The teacher is really nice to him, and I'm afraid he's going to ask her to kick me out... what should I do? redface

Most music teachers or directors don't like kicking people out of band, especially due to inexperience. When I first joined my concert band, I was so bad... I could play virtually nothing. But I got better as I went along and now I'm playing first. You should be fine.

I felt like that. only Adam and Mr.Drummer didn't get along that well. Adam tends to play "out of turn" Adam had played Viola (lyk me) 1 year longer. ... you'll get better. I could play hardly anything...

fist of all, he must be a huge douche and b***h to say crap about his comrades (we use that term in my HS Orchestra), anyways, you will get better, i cant say much since i started playing since 5th grade, but i recommend (if it realy matters to you) that you practice more than you play games n' stuff.

Well, he's a teacher's pet and an idiotic b***h if he thinks you're not good enough. When I joined orchestra as a viola about four years ago, I stunk! Now I'm pretty good. ;]
Tell him that you'll get better and that if he thinks he's better than you just because he can play better, that he's wrong. If he continues to act poorly towards you, let the band teacher know and she might kick HIM out, even if he's a star student.

Don't sweat about it, if the kid gives you any crap about it, then either ignor him, or, if push comes to shove, kick him in the balls, or stab him with a dry erase marker. Either one is good. But depending on what kind of orchestra your in, the teacher can't kick you out. If your really self conscience about your playing, then take private lessons, and practicing a bit more learning the violin takes time and work ( i know because i've played for about 6 years.) You'll get better in time, just be patient with it. biggrin

I've been playing the cello for 7 years, but I took a year off. When I came back, I couldn't remember anything. The other cellists thought they were all so much better than I was. This year, I'm pretty much tied with this girl who's been playing longer than I have.
If you're determined enough, you'll get better. The teachers not going to kick you out, because they all believe in helping you reach your musical goals. It also makes them look like a monster if they kick someone out for a stupid reason.

The district or school aren't so supposed to kick you out just cuz a teacher favors a kid or because they feel like it. You'll only be kicked out when you're expelled. You have nothing to worry about.
