(excuse the clutter, i don't know how to make technobabble look organized)
Basic Overview
Full Project Title: Jointed Artificial Intelligence System (shorthand "JAIS", phonetically as "Jace")
Established: December 2nd, 2024
Projected Capabilities: Systems Automation, Encryption/Decryption(confirmed to 32bit-strength at time of writing), Near-Lossless File Format Translation, Speech Recognition and Translation(via proprietary standards), Environmental Recognition and Navigation
Viable Commercial Platforms: None yet, generalization pending
Project Heads: Alicen Ingram, Claire Estelle; based at Frontier Systems Inc.

In-Depth Synopsis
Software History: At first nothing more than a mere 1000-line program in C, the project began as an application to translate text documents between encoding standards(such as ASCII, EBCDIC, and Unicode) with as little alteration to the file's contents as possible. It soon branched into translating common file formats used for documents on the Windows PC platform, and further into Apple software, with translation between the two not far from that.

The system as it's documented now began taking shape when, finding that carpal tunnel was becoming a problematic possibility, the programmers began adding support and recognition for other input methods. Speech recognition and dictation came first and slowly, taking several months to fully implement and refine. On a somewhat bored whim, one of the pair decided to try adding video capabilities(and facial recognition, naturally) to an interesting effect, though it would be forgotten for a few months.

As press increased and grants were more readily available, Estelle pushed for other advancements -- advancements Ingram had in mind but never had the gall to mention before -- along the lines of improving accessibility and broadening the scope of functions. Through several hardware changes and planning sessions, what was once a simple algorithm truly came into its namesake; clever programming methods coupled with a proprietary processing basis and two very devoted coders gave the system the spark it needed to adapt and grow practically on its own. Even to this day, improvements are made, features are refined... almost as if it's taken on a life of its own.

Platform Overview: The main development platform used for the project is one of a kind, built and streamlined over the course of fifteen years. At once, it's the most intricate Human Interface Device conceived, a triumph in autonomous environmental perception, and perhaps the closest anyone's been to overcoming Mori's theoretical "uncanny valley" with a mobile entity(albeit being categorized as on the left side of the valley by peers). With the guise of an average Caucasian male in his mid twenties and a developed demeanor to match, the sheer ease with which JAIS can communicate with others through this platform makes 'social engineering' as large a part of the development process as hard-coding.

Platform Specifications:
Height: 172 cm (5' 8")
Weight: 95.2 kg (~210 lbs.) Increases with applicable peripherals
Processor(s): 8 Intel AccelIon 7GHz 64-bit units, w/software threading
Actuation: Heavy-duty variable-flow silenced electric motors for macromotion and large joints with more than one DoF, variable-speed/flow electric MicroAction actuators for micromotion
Degrees of Freedom: Face sad some big number I don't feel like calculating) / Neck: 3 / Arms(plus shoulders): 7x2 / Legs and Feet: 7 / Hands: 20x2(4 per finger and thumb... ye gods) / Torso: 2 (just keep in mind the total doesn't exceed that of the actual human body, if it even meets it)
Power Supply: 60v DC(120v AC in) sustained by two slim-profile long-life NiMH battery cells
Max. Operation Time(on battery): 72 consecutive hours, assuming normal operation

((Blaaagh, more coming soon, this will be finished in a timely manner. @.x And from what I see here, it's going to be a doozy of a profile~))

All information in this document is accurate up to a point known only as "The Crisis". On August 19th, 2053 Frontier Systems Inc. filed for bankruptcy and closed its doors. Alicen Ingram was reported as leaving the firm, but there were no signs of either Claire Estelle or the project in any form parting ways. It is unknown what became of JAIS after this point.

((harha referencing Infinite Crisis -- but yeah, this just means that, after a point, things open up for all sorts of lovely stories. In one version, he awakes after a mere five years to room with a woman he previously encountered while being field tested at HouseLab. In another, it's a whole century before someone finds him and he ends up helping a small group of children survive in a post-apocalyptic world. I've done all sorts of cracked-out crap with him, and he's shaping up to be one of my longest-lived characters/mental fixtures.))

Developer's Notes
Universe/Setting of Origin: Original, Science Fiction
Details Relating to Original Universe: (refer to this for the little, cracked-out daydream that started this whole mess)

Besides being a fun RP character, JAIS is pretty much the mental manifestation of everything I've picked up about modern technology and the extrapolation of such. I'm seriously building him in my head as I go along, trying to apply this and that such thing I read or hear about. As far as I'm concerned, 2053 is a deadline -- it's not that far away, but technology's been progressing so fast that it just might be possible to get away with something this ludicrously acceptable by 2050.

...and between you and me, he's also wonderfully convenient to have around to poke fun at Repliee/Actroid. :3 But you've seen this in TMH, I'm sure.

Art?: Any that I'm happy with showing off? No.
On Gaia?: He doesn't have an account, but he made a brief appearance in a bar thread that never got anywhere.
