Self-commentary, or 'No s**t, Sherlock?'
Our feature game today is Trace Memory. This game sounds like one of those -omgz-im-on-an-island-with-no-memory-wtf-halp?! style games, and to an extent, it is. You are young Ashley, going on 14 years old. Your parents are presumed dead, but you're not convinced! You are joined by a not-so-plucky ghost who died in the same island you visit, but 57 years ago. While you're out searching for your parent's fate, he's trying to figure out who he is and why he died. Slowly but surely, perhaps, both are intertwined!

Um, yay?
The story sounds generic, but innovation is what keeps this game as a puzzle solver's dream. You use the stylus as everything from a scraper, to a hammer, use the microphone to blow dusty tomes / paintings, and even have to close the DS in order to solve your puzzles. The developers obviously studied what makes the DS the DS as they used just about every trick it is capable of to help you (or hinder your ability to) solve puzzles. I watched as my mom was struggling with one particular puzzle, where she couldnt use the stamps. She thought of the old boring 'I NEED INK!', when all she had to do was close the DS. When she reopened it, there was the stamp!
Graphics wise, this game isnt exactly reinventing the wheel, but it looks nice for a handheld title.
For those who look at the above and go 'tl;dr', you can go to hell, but just this one time I will short and sweet the above.
Think Myst, on the DS.
I give this game five stars out of five, just for lawl'ing as my mom struggled with a simplistic puzzle.
