So, lately, as in the last 2 months, I've met A TON of Avatards. ('A ton' here meaning, like, 6.) I was shocked because I thought I was alone in my community, but lo and behold! Dorks! The first one I found was back in August. He's my sister's friend, actually. He doesn't look like an Avatard. He's a pretty tall guy, kinda scary looking, does security, etc. He was at the local anime con with us, and we were browsing through the Artist's Alley when he was like, "OOOH, AVATAR!" I was like, "...Oh em gee no wai." He burnt me discs of the first and second seasons, so now (once I get a decent video-editor) I can make AMVs with material from ALL the episodes! The next one I didn't really talk to, but she was also at the anime con. She was dressed up as Toph. It was pretty epic. I took a picture. ^^ The next two I found were in the Writer's Club I joined this year (which is filled with people so wonderfully bat-s**t crazy that the one hour that we meet makes my entire week). It was kind of a quiet meeting (meaning you didn't have to shout to be heard), because there were a lot of student council meetings and such, and I was about to leave (felt like crap, hardly anyone was there) when I heard two girls saying something about Toph and Sokka. I kinda sidled up beside them and I'm like, "So. Avatar?" They're like, "AVATAR!" I'm like, "AVATAAAAAAAAR!!!" Hehe. Then we talked about ships. Unsurprisingly, the head of the club was a Zuko x Aang fan. (She can often be found doodling yaoi on the back of her notes.) We also talked about DoBS (we'd all seen the leak on the internet haha), and screamed about Suki and Zuko and Ursa. The next two I found were actually in my Japanese class, and I'm pretty good friends with them. It was when we were handing in that character chart I mentioned in the 'Japanese Names' forum, and they were like, "OH MY GOD AVATAR!!!" I was like, "...'Joo serious?!" And then we squealed about it for awhile. And then my teacher made us shut up. ._. And, as far as converting, I might be able to convert one of my friends! Yaaaaaah!!! She's seen like 2 episodes (the first and fourth one). She was teasing me about Avatar for awhile (because it's kinda a nerdy show, plus we just rag on each other all the time), but after seeing how utterly psyched I was every Friday, she was like, "Maybe I should check it out..." We have almost identical taste in shows (especially as far as humour is concerned), and she did like the 2 episodes she saw. (Even though, as I told her, those were from early 1st season and really aren't that great compared to the epicness of the later episodes.) The only problem is that there's like, 50 episodes out right now, and almost all the episodes are relevant. So, yeah, she's kinda daunted by the number of episodes. BUT. There's a chance. SO. Share with me your tales of meeting or making Avatards! scream

I don't like her pose... Toph usually fights with a more open palmed style, doesn't she?

...Thank you so much for sharing those lovely experiences with me. -__-
And it IS a girl, believe me.
...Yeah, RP, you're right.
Whatever. I was just thrilled that there was a Toph at the con and she took her sandals off for the picture. *emoemoemo*

If She was a real man she wouldn't have worn them at all. But I guess not all of us can have hawaiian feet. If you don't understand the joke: I can walk on lava bare foot for several hours without it hurting my feet.

I found a sculpture in one of my classes that had the avatar signs for air, water, earth, and fire on it. I didn’t think it was at first, ‘cause my college pretty much consists mostly of anime/manga purists, so talking about anything American made, or even dubed, is considered a big “no, no”, so it didn’t really seem plausible for it to be avatar related. But when it did finally sink in, it made my day.

You can't walk outside for more than like 10 seconds without stepping in a half-foot deep puddle. -_- Mind you, this WAS in summer. I agree, she shoulda gone barefoot. If I was cosplaying as Toph I would have. My feet are... soft and squishy, admittedly, BUT IT WOULD BE WORTH THE PAIN.

Morgan: O______o I could NEVAR do that even when I DID. I could walk on rocks though. *shot*
Well. I only met afew true avatar lovers. When avatar season three was coming, I called it 'national avatar day' and I met this girl in my art class (she LOVED talking too~) and she was like, 'AVATAR? No wai.' and then everyone around just gave her an 'O.O' look because she's popular, and hid her avatardness. D: But anyways~ so we spent all of science ANd art class doodling and passing notes. She predicts that Aang's going to die in the avatar state when Togh just started to hold a crush on Aang. o.O The other one I met in Hawaii, so I don't see him anymore. He lives on like, two islands away from me, where I lived, and he lived no like, a really small one. I donj't think it was charted on the map. o.O Well it was, but it was small. AND he made cosplays, he was an amazing artist, and when I said I had to leave, he gave me his Aang staff (of an old cosplay he did for the heck of it), but I couldn't take it with me, so I gave it back to him.

But when it did finally sink in, it made my day. I know what you mean about the anime purist thing. The avatar is anime but it's american made so it's kind of hard to convince people that. Same art work, same anime emotions, chibis. Anime's just a form of art. But yea, dubbed is a big no no to some anime. I actually like the voice actors in the avatar though so it's good.

Small island, huh? Molokai, or Maui, maybe? You told me you were from the Big Island, dude. I was sorely disappointed when you didn't want to meet up sometime in kona town.
