Silver was out in the woods that bordered on the foothills of the mountains, the same foothills his father's house, now his was built into. It was a small clearing, but it served his purposes as he moved through the moves he'd been practicing every night. His claws flashed out at the log he had sitting upright to bite into the bark, and he'd drop back into a guard position only to strike out again with his feet. He'd normally have stopped by now, but there was something about tonight, something on the air that had him on edge. He shook his head, his earrings jangling as the moonlight reflected off of the silver orb that took the place of his left eye.

Silent wings guide the angelic fa'e to where her friend and Guardian has come to call home. Tracking him wasn't all that difficult, not with Eirnae and Alimus's information to clarify on what her diminished senses could not do on their own.
The closer she gets, the stronger the thread of Silver's emotions becomes. It's unmistakable, that blend. Distinctly him. She focuses upon it, letting her empathy swell to cover the distance, likely brushing the corner of her friend's consciousness with her own emotions in the process. She has yet to fully refine such methods, but she's working on it.
With a landing made soft by practice, huge white and gray wings tuck back behind Shina. She's given Silver quite a few feet of space, not wanting to interrupt his practice just yet. For now she merely watches quietly, bare feet as quiet as her wings' feathers as she steps to one side to have a better angle.

As Shina comes in to a landing, Silver will stop moving, and drop his fighting pose, hands going to his side, lightly bunched into fists as he stays still. Leaning forward, he will rest his head on the tree, ears shifting backwards, listening. He'll take a deep breath, then another before he speaks, not trusting his voice.
"Is that really you, or is this another trick, another dream. I don't know anymore. I don't trust my senses anymore." He'll reach forward, digging his claws into the log, not trusting himself to turn around, closing both of his eyes tight, expecting to be attacked, expecting it to be a trick, or just his imagination.

His distress, confusion, and loneliness well up and seem to swirl about the fa'e she's known for so long. He's more than this incarnation. He's lived counted lives, all for the sake of finding and guarding her once more ... all to fulfill his ancient vow.
After all of that, she'd left him a note, just a note, and didn't tell him exactly where she'd be going to find Hoshi. After all, how could she when she had no idea herself?
Sure, there's no guilt to be had there. None at all.
"It is me," she assures him in her silvery voice, sounding much like the celestial being she used to be, "Please forgive me for not giving you more notice, Silver. I had to go."
Just a few steps closer, though Silver's personal space is still respected. Not that his claws intimidate her. Her friend, her Guardian, would never hurt her, not even unintentionally, or so she believes.

Keeping his eyes closed, he turned around. There were more scars there then Shina remembered. A lot more. And not all of them where on his body. He opened his mismatched eyes. The right one was as she remembered, but the left one was an orb of what looked like liquid silver, with a sapphire blue circle where the iris would be around a black opening. He blinked once, then twice, then sank to his knees at her feet, not able to stand anymore, head bowing under the metaphoric weight he carried at the moment. He didn't say anything, not trust himself to speak. He dug his fingers into the ground, as if to hold onto something, swaying slightly.

S he wavers at the intensity of his feelings when they join with hers inside her head and heart, both parts thudding painfully hard and fast. She'd moved to be before him when he'd turned, instinctively knowing that he'd need her to be close.
She'd just not realized how much till she'd gotten the chance to see him from the front. So many scars ... What happened to him during her absence? She holds in her wince, not wanting to add insult to injury. Then her darker blue ringed blue eyes are drawn to his, and it's very difficult to not gasp in her surprise. It's like putting the straw to the camel's back. All of those emotions tumble about her ears as she soaks in these many changes to her dear and loyal friend, all the while trying desperately to keep his emotional state from blending with her own.
Shock. Guilt. Shame. Anger. Joy. Confusion.
All attack her senses, making her seem to breath in Silver's state of mind in the place of oxygen. "Silver ..."
Her hands are on his shoulders first, but then she's kneeling, having come down to her knees in one swift motion, her arms going about him so she can rock him as gently as one would their baby. "All is forgiven, my friend. Forgiven and forgotten. There is naught but love in me for you."

Silver shook his head, and closed his eyes again, still not trusting his voice, but just soaking in her being close. He raised one arm, putting it around her, still bottling up his emotions, fighting them down so he could speak. "Don't be so quick with forgiveness. You don't know some of what I've done." He gave a crooked smile, and moved back a little so he was crouching near her, able to look at her, eyes going over her, seeing how she's changed, looking deeper, as if looking for something, anything amiss.

Those eyes, the one she remembers well and that which is still so alien, scan over the half-fa'e, and she doesn't move away. In fact she mimics his posture to an extent, with one arm keeping tight about him while the other lifts its hand to cup his cheek, tracing one of his scars with a fingertip.
"Once so deep that your fur hasn't regrown ... Had I been with you I would have stopped this ..." Could she? Yes, if only through her ever expanding knowledge of herbology and first aid. One day I will find a way to learn more about these gifts of my Father's. I shall have to make it soon. Yet not so soon as to further traumatize Sei and Silver. For now, they need her to be here, with them, and on a consistent basis. She's all too glad to comply.
"Whatever it is you have done, Silver, I will forgive as long as you truly seek that forgiveness. Such is my Father's path, and I seek to place my steps as he guides them."
She's calm and strangely collected despite the emotional maelstrom that's darting between them. However, she cannot hide the haunted light in her blue eyes from this man who has known her throughout her lives. There is a deep sadness shining there, a lit candle always tilted and ready to tumble end over end into a thick puddle of combustible oil.
"I've missed you."

Silver gave a sad smile, and shrugged at the mention of one of his scars. "Its hard to seek forgiveness when one doesn't want to forgive themselves." He laid his head on her shoulder, breathing in the oh so familiar scent. "I've missed you too my angel. More then I can explain."
He'll shift so that he's sitting against the tree, pulling back a little, but not much. He'll grab her hand, and squeeze it slightly, closing his eyes again, relaxing, the lines of his face seeming to soften as he did so, losing the harsh, predatory edge they had gained lately.

His angel. That brings a smile to her lips, one that radiates but some of the warmth and caring that she's capable of both feeling and sharing.
Returning his paw's squeeze with a gentle one of her own, she slides forward when he's finished arranging himself against the tree, a wing tucking about him as she rests one side of her body against his front. Tucking her pale head under his chin, she snuggles into the comfort of his fur, his smell, but ultimately his aura as it flickers and then passes through her own, leaving a bit of its color behind, if only for a moment.
"To forgive oneself is the hardest of all tasks," she both agrees and prompts, "There can be no healing for an aching heart till it's done."
There's a pause then, but one that's hardly uncomfortable. Real friends don't need words to enjoy one another's company. She only speaks again when a question bubbles to the surface of her thoughts and refuses to go away. "Silver, what has happened? To you and the others, if you please. Sei was unable to tell me, and Zero also knew little of the goings-on. What has happened to you, my dear friend, during my absence?"

He'll wrap one arm around her, giving a faint smile. "I can't speak for what has happened to others, not a lot at least. As for me..." He'll frown, and sigh a little. "I hit bottom. I've changed a lot. No longer the knight in white. If I'm a knight at all. I've stopped caring. I'm just going to do the job I've chosen, any way I can, even if it means I have to do things that aren't exactly considered upright. I still have my honor, but I don't know if people would recognize it as such."
He'll sit back, eyes closed after that rush. "As for whats happened to others... Lets see. Aylana is now human. She had twins I think. With Lucien. Then broke up with him afterwards. Nyoka grew up, as did Sati. Sati is pregnant..." He'll stop a moment to think, a thoughtful look on his face.

The news of the others is as troubling as it is enlightening. She's happy for some of it, such as the twins, Nyoka growing up, and Sati getting a chance to be a mother. Yet hearing of Lucien's likely broken heart, especially after he'd given up so much for Aylana and their little ones by becoming human, makes her heart thud with sympathetic pain. It's one thing to know that the other parents of your children loves you and is not with you, it's quite another to have to try and be involved in the lives of your children when that other has severed the romantic ties.
She shudders against Silver, closing her eyes and pressing against him. He too had gone through a version of that, though there had been no children involved, thank the Father. She's suddenly glad of her ache for Hoshi. At least somewhere out there, her beloved still cares for her. She's sure of it.
What of Silver? He claims he's been dragged across the bottom of life's barrel, and from what she's seen of his body and spirit, she believes him. Yet he's picked himself up, and carries himself with a dignity she didn't witness in him before she left to try and find Hoshi. He's changed, and despite what he says, she believes for the better. She only wishes he hadn't needed to go through so much to make that change possible, though she puts her trust in God's plan for her Guardian. "Knights need not wear white to protect others, Silver. Keep to your code, my friend, only look to He who is above and remember why you took your vow in the first."
A pale hand lifts to touch his cheek, the gesture gentle as fingers stroke at the shorter fur towards his chin. Silver's mark shimmers on the back of that hand. "I believe in you, Silver, as does my Father. We will ever believe in you. I look to you and see not a man broken by his choices, but one who has stitched together pieces of his soul to repair the greater whole. There is much you have left to tap of your reserves, and they are there."

He'll give a half ironic grin, and a shrug as he continues to lean against the tree. "I'll take your word for it Shina. Lately I just keep on going on as best I can. Some days, thats all we can do I suppose." He'll tousle her hair, and give a cheeky grin. "Sides, i'm too stubborn and stupid to give up. So I guess I have to keep going, huh?"
Its obvious he's rambling a little, more from trying not to break down then anything, but even that isn't working. Tears are starting to form around his eyes, though he tries to fight them off as best he can. He's happy that she's back, but at the same time, he feels almost as if its safe to fall apart, if only a little, now that she is there.

Her marked hand rises to gather one of his tears upon a fingertip, holding the bit of moisture aloft as if it's a precious gem rather than a droplet of salty water. After a long moment, she lets it begin to trail down that finger, rapidly heading for her palm. She's tilted her head up and back, so she can witness his mood as well as feel it. Her eyes hold their own unshed tears, her empathy spiking to take his pain into her heart.
"There is no shame in tears," is murmured, both of her surprisingly strong arms embracing him upon her body shifting her position to make such possible. "Let it go."
"Just let it go."

He'll wrap his arms around her, and bury his face in her shoulder as he just stops fighting whats coming anyways. The tears come fast, though hes quiet about it. He clings to her like she is a rock in a storm tossed ocean, his only hope at the moment. And in a way, she is. He'd been withdrawing more and more from the rest of the fa'e. Maybe, just maybe, she could keep him anchored enough to become a part of them again...
