Ok, here's something that I think this must of happen to you.
This is what happen to me, I was with my mother and father where they were taking me to go get my Seinor picture's taken. And while we were in the waiting room, my father took a look at a book I brought along, Dark-Hunter's Night Pleasure/Night Embrace. And he took it right out of my hands and started to skim it to the Night Embrace part of the book. I kept telling him to give it back give it back but he wouldn't. Then when we went to pick the picture's I would use, he saved a page to look at when we got back to the car, and when we got there he started to read the part were Sunshine first 'Does It' with Talon in the book. Reading It Out Loud!!!!.
My whole face flamed up when that happen and he started to say stuff like, "This is suppose to be called this," and "why did they wrote this" When I finally took my book back my mother had the nerve to say this afterwards.
"Well at least she's getting it on with a book and not with a BOY."
Oh God's almightly, strike me here and now. Now I would like to ask you girls, or guys.
Did this ever, and I mean EVER, had happen to you.

Can't say it's ever happened to me, and I have no plans to do it to my children when they're older. From a professional point of view, be glad your parent care enough to be curious what you're reading. That was rather rude of your dad to read it out publicly, however.

Luckyly, it was only my parents that heard it. Not everyone around the area.

Never happened to me, thankfully. But my mom reads the hardcore Ellora's Cave stuff, so I doubt she would freak or anything. At most she would just take the book away and tell me the age at which I could read it.

It never happened to me either. My parents never made comments, but I knew they were much happier seeing me with trashy romance novels than my morbid books about criminals and the occult.

That has never happened to me, either. I am sorry it happened to you, but perhaps your parents don't understand your love for books. Maybe, although what your Dad did was malicious, he had a good intention in there somewhere. I can't speak for your parents, but my Mother did nothing but encourage my bibliophilia. In fact, she intentionally got me a romance book in lieu of teaching me about the birds and the bees herself.

One day at school my L.A teacher came and took the cause i was reading when i wasn't suposed to,she told the class what i was reading and the cover I was so embaresed both times. But what can you do crying I'm sorry about what happened, but my mom says it's ok and she rather let me read a book with stuff like that in it then me really be with a boy(ick i couldn't do it) she even bought me "bite me if you can" for christmas good thing my dad didn't see it

I've never had it happen to me but I have personally grabbed one of my romance novels, flipped to an "intimate" part and started reading aloud at the mall, just to peeve my friends. It was very funny, and after a while, they were saying "louder!" but I was afraid somebody was going to stop by and smite me.

I'm very familiar with this, though my dad could care less what I read (except he doesn't get the yaoi... whereas my mom says the whole "book not boy" routine.) I've actually had my classmates read the dirty parts out loud... in front of the teacher! Talk about embarrassing.

Something sorta like that happened to me:
My professor called me and a few other students into his office to talk about a conference we were going to, where we were going to read our papers aloud. Being me, I took along a book I'd just started in case I was early or they were late or he was detained or whatever. When he began to tell us about how fast we should be reading, he picked up my book and randomly flipped to a page near the beginning to read aloud. I thought to myself, "Eh, whatever. This author doesn't write sex scenes until the end."
He started to read...then stopped...his eyes got wide...his mouth dropped open a little...a faint blush hit his cheeks...and he turned to another page near the middle to read.
I was soooo embarrassed. The other girls (I go to a women's college) all started laughing hysterically, but all I wanted to do melt into the floor.
When I was finished reading the book, I realized that I possibly have the worst luck ever: he'd turned to the only page in the entire book with an even slightly racy scene. Go figure.

No one ever read anything aloud on me, but I did learn about the ... erm... male contribution to the act of making babies from a horror book. I was fifteen, and not actually curious about it, so when I read the scene, I thought the guy was sick or the evil chick had done something weird to him. And then I looked up seminal fluid on the internet.
...
bad idea.
